This game was not a dud by any stretch of the mind. Both teams skated hard and had plenty of scoring chances. Minnetonka just happened to play better at both ends of the ice. Some very pretty goals the Skippers had, too. So it's not the Greyhounds goalies' fault either despite the high score.

You cannot be serious. The 3rd and 4th lines saw plenty of ice time in the 3rd.
So did the first line. Didn't they?
Another reason they "ran it up" - they've been reading your posts. =D>

That was pathetic by East. I hate to say this for the East fans but you may see more of this with the new rules. If you look at any of the top teams the new rules hurt East more than anyone with their lack of skilled players. At their best they are a ground it out type team and you can't do that anymore.

Hey, I just wanted Sparlimb to bring back more of my material to the Lessers forum. Glad to oblige, since they keep running short of original material. Not to mention new users. Wonder why....

kinda curious how the whole #1 #2 thing will go down i usually would give it to the winner when the top 2 teams play but they both handled each other the 2 times they played and i don't think i can see tonka as #1 when they went 1-1 this week with a lost to edina

Undefeated #1 gets thumped? They'll remember it even if they don't. I'm going out on a limb and I'll say these kids never forget it. Even 50 years from now when they are in their late 60s.

I think minnscout is a mis leading title. "Lack of skilled players" Yeah they are all grinders...

I think East will have a great shot at winning it all this year, but I must say, I rather enjoyed watching them get taken to the woodshed today!

I'm quietly cheering for the Skippers to do it. They've never won it. 8)

Hey, I understand. They were embarrassed in the Schwan Cup and had the opportunity on their home ice against a team missing four of their top players, to return the favor. Bravo.

Bitter, Lee? No excuses :D, even though its true

Did I hear that this was the first and only game for these jerseys, that the kids get to keep them? Can't imagine too many of them encasing them and hanging them up on a wall.

Despite my stab with Lee, DE still imho remains the team to beat. Tonka did well today and I do think they overlooked Edina, but DE was missing some key components and was on the road. I hope they get the chance to meet again. However, Tonka has a lot of work in front of them both in conference and sections.

If DE was playing in the Lake Conference, would they win it? Serious question, because they just got clobbered by Minnetonka, who just lost to Edina.

northwoods oldtimer - care to chime in???? Their "TEAM" game didn't fare so well today. And if you want to say they had some key players missing, that doesn't say too much for the "TEAM", does it?

Nobody yet this year has seen DE at full strength. Ponder what theyve done with that fact. This team is good. The goalie save pct was .66 at the end of the game. This game is close or tied with Parker in net and Val in the line up. Not to mention Olson an repensky at full strength. Nobody is perfect. One blemish will do. Good game by the skippers today. Go hounds.

I'm a little surprised at the responses regarding East.

I was quick to say Tonka got their butts kicked by east at the X in December. Now East gets blown out, and there are a lot of excuses and reasons why today’s game wasn't a real test on this board.

Yes, East had a few key players out, but maybe Tonka just played a great game. And maybe they studied the tape from the X beating and figured out some ways to exploit DE.

East may yet roll all the way to the title in March, but Tonka, and other top teams have the capacity to beat them on any given day. Today, they got beat handily. Let's call it what it was, a great game by Tonka that blew east out of the building.

As for running it up, why would you let your foot off the gas against the top, unbeaten team in the state? That's just crazy.

East or Tonka could lose in the sections, but let's hope they can find a way to meet again in March!

As for #1 I think if Tonka had won 4-3 you could make a case that East could hang onto the #1 spot...but not after 9-3. Even if you account for injuries, East is not at the top spot right now. When they get everybody back, they may be again, who knows.

Tonka showed today they are the top team in the state today by manhandling #1.

Good luck to East the rest of the way!

Yes, I do. But he recently voiced a very bold opinion about a different school's "TEAM" play. I just want to read what he has to say.

He was yanking chains. East is one of the last teams he would prop.

Remember when he predicted Tonka to beat East in running time in the Schwan's Cup? Now that's Northwoods. Maybe he didn't think it would take a month for his prediction to come true, I don't know. :)
