In the end I suppose it really depends on how you define worthy...we all have no doubt how you feel.

GFD:

I was at the game tonight thinking about what could coach Urick say to the boys about where to improve. Sseeing 29 shots on the board for lakeville is very concerning to me.

I know the tonka "d" like to jump up in the play, but that's way too many shots for a below average team to be getting.

Not a bad prediction if I may say.

This day is perfect; Roseau lost, 1AA got dominated, and I'm on spring break. Things cant get much better now! Image Image

Oh and I believe section 1AA has now lost in the state tournament over the last 3 years by a combined score of 23-2! There really is no arguing this, this section is terrible and unworthy.

Care to comment curtiscurve?
Before you run your mouth, check out the score of the section final from the 6AA. You complain that 1AA is not worthy of a spot in the tournament when other teams from 6AA sit at home, but they played very hard and lost to Tonka by the same margin as Eden Prairie in the finals. Care to comment? What a tool!

The 7-2 margin of defeat over EP was not indicative of how close the game was, anyone who watched the game could tell you that. Lakeville North wouldn't have made it out of the first round of section 6AA. I like how you ignored the fact that your beloved section 1AA is being outscored 23-2 at state though. You really have no argument here whatsoever. And please come up with something better than "tool" everytime you feel like insulting me, last time someone called me that I was in middle school.

Right, bloodie..... maybe Urick underestimated the ability of Lindgren and was trying to get more pressure on him, and it didn't work, but there were just too many shots inside the face-off dots. If Kruger doesn't make some dang good saves himself, it's a different game....

I don't think Tonka can afford to play that way versus East or H-M..

How about ban the troll? He's authored nothing positive and shown to be about as ignorant as anyone has or is a bit.

I saw the EP/Minnetonka game, North put up at least as tough a fight. The Tonka netminder was very good tonight, the Skippers didn't need him to win but he sure made some saves that made the margin what it was, more him than North being bad. North played a pretty good game.

North played a really good game, it just happens that they are a bad team.

20 min into the EP game tonka was down 2-1. The score was 2-2 with 5 minutes to go in the 2nd and 4-2 until the last few minutes of the game. 20 min into the Lakeville game tonka was up 3-0 and the game was all but over. 7-2 did represent how the game went.
Tonka didn't seem too excited for this one and it's tough to play against a team that is trying not to get blown out. Lakevilles coach seemed pumped to be down 4-1 after two and just happy to be somewhat in the game.

Agreed. Too many shots, and it's like Tonka is dominant for a long stretch, and then out of nowhere they're giving up point blank shots.

So, if you think you can take EP, how would you feel about a realignment of sections that puts EP in 1AA?

Yes ban me because I simply have a different opinion than you. I have done nothing to warrant a ban. I state my opinions and I'm very firm to them. I don't use foul language or personal attacks like some people on here do when they respond to me. I'm just more harsh and critical of weaker teams than most people. When people argue with me, I stand up for my position. Funny thing is, almost all the time I'm the one who's right after the games are played, tonight is a prime example.

It was probably tough for Urick to keep the players from looking ahead to the semis. They had to play BSM and EP, the two teams who knocked Tonka out of the 6AA finals the last two years and then they get the 1AA quarterfinal matchup.
On a side note i saw Lourdes came from behind in the 3rd period to beat New Ulm so Section 1 did get at least one win.

There is a difference between disagreeing and being disagreeable. This is something you don't quite grasp. I personally don't care what your opinion is. The way you put those opinions out here would be construed as trolling by many. Starting with your username. That should have been a red flag to Mitch and I from day one.

Since it seems almost every thread on this board inevitably finds its way back to 1aa bashing I'll take a stab at defending our current system.
We all know that sections are not determined on the basis of just one sport. Section 1AA has struggled in hockey for a number of years and the future doesn't look that bright either. As a fan of high school hockey I'd love to see the best 8 teams in the tournament but its never happened in the past and unless you think that hockey should somehow construct a system that differs from that used in all other high school sports we won't see it any time soon. While a dream tourney would be great for us spectators all it would really accomplish is to further cement the notion of elitism that our great sport is allready fighting. If your willing to give up the excitement of an upset like we saw today and at the same time demonstrate a level of arrogance that makes you think hockey is somehow different or more special than other sports, then I say GO FOR IT!!!
Its just another step toward the end high school hockey as we know it, AAA here we come!

I couldn't agree more. Of course everyone would like to see the best teams in the state duke it out but if the system was changed the number of kids transfering, moving, or choosing private schools would sky-rocket. Kids would move to a school where they think they would have a legit shot at making the state tournament. Instead we have this beautiful tournament that brings us everything from the elite (Minnetonka), to the almost Canadian (Roseau), to the middle of the pack Lake team pulling an upset (Apple Valley). It goes to cycles too, sure right now and in recent memory 1AA hasn't produced the best teams but I'd be willing to bet they will in the future at some point. Possibly even soon, look at the top players on North-Arentz and Skjei, both sophs plus Lindgren the goalie is a Soph. Then you have South with a line of soph, soph, fresh.

Trust me there will be a time (I don't know when but there will be) when 1AA is producing elite teams and the beloved sections 2 and 6 will be average.

Well that was quite a rant, but I think I got my point across.

Lakeville North has a pretty young roster and started the season 0-5, which means they played .500 hockey until last night. They could be a much better team next year if they keep everyone.
