Your giving all of these examples of leaders with points, which is great, but look at one of the best captains known to hockey, Mike Eurizone for the 1980 USA team. He was a mediocre player who had an ability to lead.
.... as to why I have harped so much on this board of my affection and respect for Zach Hoffman, of the Bears.. The guy is vocal.. He lends humor... He works his ass off.. He plays physical... He plays both ends of the rink, he plays hurt, and will stay on the ice until he can't.

I can't imagine, statistically, where he would be right now if he had a healthy body.

I have cried wishing more players followed his example of his tough style of play. Yes, he takes penalties, but as I have stated... they're roughing, boarding - aggressive penalties... not the hooking, holding or tripping from being lazy.

Sorry that was Zach Loesch that got the holding penalty in OT.

Youngy?? Why you raining on my parade when I have my umbrella packed away??????...

So......... he has a penalty after skating every other shift for 60 minutes, but it wasn't a lazy penalty....

Good luck with your Ponies.... I think they can do it..

I took a stab at it, 25% chance of getting it right. Seen as the Bears are rested I will say,

WBL 5 - MV 1 setting up a fabled WBL-Hill playoff match-up that will resolve to a play-in game type outcome with WBL exacting an early season lose with a 6-2 win.

mnhcky65 wrote: Being the best player on the ice doesnt make you a leader. SAger and FSN both agreed Swanson was the best player on the ice for WB during the Woodbury game. Also, Lowell played with Birki and Wallin for a little while when Ryan Walter was urt, which gave Lowell many, many assists. And for Slator, he's got to get the goal scoring pass from somebody...
Seniors have to be the best ones on the ice to lead the team, because a team only goes as far as the senior class pushes them. Seniors lead the way, because they have the experience. Examples?

Danny Mattson (C) - 71 pts
Anders Lee (C) - 66 pts
Nick Leddy (C) - 37 pts
Tyler Zepeda (C) - 36 pts
Ben Hanowski (C) - 110 pts
Marshall Everson (C) - 64 pts
Tyler Pitlick (C) - 58 pts
Dan Delisle (C) - 53 pts

....shall I continue with senior leaders?
Sticknasty....you are way off base if you are correlating getting points wit being a leader. Your comments about pushing teammates and leading with experience are good examples of leaders. But they don't have to be the leading scorers to do that. Is Stoa a senior?..no, is Bostrom and Anderson leading their team in scoring?...no. These are the captains of the Gophers. Was Brad Bombadier a scoring threat?...no, but he was the Wild captain for many years. Is Pitlick a good leader for getting kicked off the team for two weeks? I can't imagine he is still the captain of Centennial after that fiasco.

And here is the topper. Zach Budish (C) - 0 pts you ask anybody on that Edina team and they will tell you Budish is the true leader of that team.

I rest my case.
I guess what I was trying to say is that the players listed lead their team by example through good consistent play, with some leadership...and clearly in the playoffs you need big players to lead the team, by putting points up on the board (let's be serious, because obviously you need points to win). Swanson hasn't exactly been the player to do it for the Bears this season, despite however much Sager wants him to lead.

And as for the misspelling on Clark, I have been to quite a few White Bear games this season, but I'm sorry I have yet to memorize how to spell the players name. I'll work on it for playoffs  !

With the way some of the games are turning out today, could this one end up as a close game as well?

You don't go to state winning a semi-final game. Let's not start talking about anything except HM.

Real classy of #17 for WBL to gouge the crease of MVs goalie during the period warm-up skate did it 3 x's. Should have been called on the last one. Refs had to repair crease before the start of periods.

Also real funny, WBL takes a TO, MV student section is right behind WBL bench. They are harassing Wolters and start chanting "Ryan's leaving, thumpthump - thumpthumpthump Ryan's leaving" WBL Student section chants back " We Don't need him thumpthump-thumpthumpthumpWe don't need him" Then MV Students really went nuts at the WBL bench.

It was very entertaining.
