EP is by far Edina's biggest rival.
You couldn't be more wrong, I guarantee if you ask any Edina player who their biggest rival is they will say Minnetonka and Minnetonka players will say Edina.

You're both wrong, for the Edina boy's their biggest rivals are their little sisters, thats the only person competing with them for daddy's money!

Its all about the Moorhead Spuds and Roseau Rams especially during section finals. Lets hope Moorhead takes it. Its been to long before they have been to the x.

sigh.. good thing I took the time to post why the Rice street cup is certainly top 5. Roseau vs Moorhead is a great rivalry. But that game is never the most important game of the season for both schools. The same is said for hill murray vs white bear lake. and unquestionably true for cretin vs st. thomas. Read previous post.

anytime you mention big rivalries in the state you have to think of cambridge isanti bluejackets and the princeton tigers. not the greatest teams but its always a hard fought battle. they absolutely hate each other.

i dont think we can ever consider WBL a rival any more. dont they have to win every once and awhile for it to be a rivalry?

Why do we keep making this thread and talking about it? There isn't one biggest rivalry in state. There are a bunch of really big ones. Why can't we be mature and admit what's really out there?
WBL/HM
AHA/BJ
STA/CDH
Warroad/Roseau
East/Cloquet
Virginia/Hibbing
There are more, but these are the big ones that pop out in my mind. If these match ups ever happen, especially in playoffs, they could sell out the DECC or Marriucci.
The thing in my mind that is so cool about a rivalry like East/Cloquet or STA/CDH is that it doesn't stop at hockey. This would happen in any spectator sport.

Well, I'm pretty new to this forum so I haven't seen alot of discussion on this subject. But I'll tell you that it's ridiculous to not mention St. Bernard's vs Como when you're talking about rivalries. Unless by biggest rivalry you just mean 'big schools that are rivals.'
Read my original post in this thread. This rivalry existed before hill and murray even combined.

i dont get how little ppl mention the Grand Rapids-Greenway rivalryl. yeah, it isnt as good as it was a few years ago but it is still one of the best. where else do you get live chickens thrown onto the ice in mockery of the thunderchickens. and the schools are only 6 miles apart. Hodgins and the IRA are usually packed for the games too.

Well if the rumors are true, this great rivalry wont exist for too much longer. I hear the schools will be merging soon.

they wont be merging soon, its just a rumor. besides if you grew up in that area you know that would never happen unless it was to keep the schools going. and besides all the former greenway and thunderchicken players would be turning in their graves. the bakers would die and the guyer's would disown hockey all together

Eden Prairie and Edina aren't in the same conference and don't play each other in everything. Minnetonka and Edina are in the same, small conference and are both good at a lot. I could see it being a rivalry but I find it hard to believe it's bigger.

Agreed. Minnetonka - Edina would be more of a rivalry except for the fact that historically it has been a pretty one sided affair. I'd say Minnetonka-Hopkins is a good rivalry due to their close proximity.
Overall though, can't beat Roseau-Warroad. hands down in my book.
Warroad Roseau

Hands down this is the top of the pile. Stories about these two towns have been done all over the USA. Its been in the New York Times, S.I. that right there shows just how big the battles between Warroad and Roseau are. I will agree being in different classes has drawn it down some but when the puck drops its the game of the year for both towns hands down. Any given year Warroad can beat Roseau and the same the other way around. This is without question the game all rivals should look to be like
