Cathedral beat Orono, 2-0. I thought that Orono had more quality chances in the 1st and 3rd, while Cathedral took the second period. Nick Maires played well between the pipes for Cathedral.
Here is the story, albeit brief, from the St. Cloud Times...
St. Cloud Cathedral 2, orono 0
LONG LAKE — Senior Stephen Rindelaub was battling a bad case of the flu. Yet despite the reduced time, he came out the hero, scoring a pair of power play goals in the second period to lead the Crusaders over the Spartans in Wright County Conference play.
Cathedral goaltender Nick Maiers also came up big, making 22 saves to earn his fourth shutout of the season. The Crusaders are ranked No. 6 in the state in Class A.
St. Cloud Cathedral 0 2 0 — 2
Orono 0 0 0 — 0
First period: No scoring.
Second period: 1. SC — Stephen Rindelaub (Joe Nessler, Alex Koopmeiners) 10:48 (pp); 2. SC — Rindelaub (Koopmeiners, Sam Lommell) 9:12 (pp).
Third period: No scoring.
Goaltenders: SC — Nick Maiers (22 saves); O — Jon Jabos (27 saves).

Glad to see Orono take another loss. I saw SCC play a few weeks ago - I was impressed on how well they move the puck.

mound 3 HF 1 HF once again dominated but couldnt score mounds goalie played out standing and won them the game for sure the shots were like 34 to 20 HF also scored on them selves which made them give up a empty netter

Dominated?! Were you at the game even? Yeah HF outshot Mound, but a majority of the shots were harmless ones from outside the slot or from the point. Nelson played extremely well, but to say that HF dominated that game is far cry from the truth.

I'd be willing to bet that Nate Schmidt won't be on the All-Conference team...
Steve Rindelaub will be on the team...probably should be the Offensive player of the year. Nessler, Lommel, Koopmeiners, and Poganski from Cathedral each have a chance to be on the team. Maiers from Cathedral is having the best season in the conference for goalies based on stats (10 goals in 8 games).
Obviously, the All-Conference team won't be all just guys from Cathedral...just guys that will be given a look.

I thought you said you were at this game but yet you give us the rundown from the times.

Clearly some slam dunks for All Conference.
I would venture a guess that the offensive player of the year will not be from St. Cloud. However, the goaltender of the year should be Maiers.

as of now i would say persian will be offensive player of the year with the most goals in the confrence and most goals in confrence games..but there is a player from delano with 1 less then him in confrence games and some holy family gets with 2 behind persian

In two games against Cathedral, Persian has been non-existent. He's a good player but I haven't seen him do much more than just hang out around the perimeter and take slap shots. He frequently takes shifts off and is always complaining to the refs. In a game earlier this year, I saw him cheap shot Nate Schmidt from Cathedral. A couple of shifts later, Schmidt puts him on his arse. Persian never went in to the corner with anybody again in the game.

ya i do agree with u on persian being a lil hacker sometimes...but he does put the puck in...its also hard to stand out against them scc defenders there all really solid..

Blanda - Interesting perspective. Keep up the accurate player assessments. It helps us scout.

If you're doing your scouting on here you probably aren't going to win...

Yes...and if your basing your assessment of a player on a game in St. Cloud then your posts are 'interesting' at best....
