I hear Tom Doran and his Tartan Titans decided to show up at this game and taunt phillippi. Anyone at the game, is this true?

It's even "tougher" to beat the SPImage DS !

I sat behind the Tartan Players. Yes they were taunting Phillippi.
After seeing Phillippi play in the Schwans, in the WBL game on FSN and on saturday. It seems to me that he is terribly overrated and has an equally terrible attitude. I think he had two penalties on saturday, a slashing call and a roughing call (for punching Nitzkorski in the face after he got checked into the net by HM players). Personally, I felt any taunts he recieved were well deserved, Not to mention entertaining

It s unsportsmanlike to taunt, unless it is against HM. 8)

I've sen Nick Larson play about half a dozen times this season and the Moorhead game was by far his worst. I don't think he's a center. He seems more suited to being a wing and using his size and strength in the corners and along the boards. He does have nice hands and a very good shot. It also seems to me that Zepeda would be more of a center, since he consistently gets outmuscled along the boards.

As for the Philippi comments, he is a good goalie, not a great one. I agree that he was pulled to get McEnaney some ice time, since he is a senior (and, by the way, he made a couple of nice saves). I also think it was a smart move in case Philippi would get hurt in the sectionals, you don't want your back up not having played in three weeks

True, TRF came awfully close in the OT on one shot but they were never a threat to win before that!

SPImageDS were slidin' it across TRF's crease and dingin' the pipes and knockin' TRF around and passin' 'em to death and gettin' shots on goal about once every thirty seconds or more but were just a hair off all night long!

Had it not been for Hanna for Centennial the SPImageDS would have been up on them by about six goals after the first!

Centennial gave 'em a fight in the third but mostly in the neutral zone!

You are right again my friend slappy. The only stat that matters is the score. Pipes hit, passes, slides across the crease and other factors don't get you to the X. The score does and the rams will have the untested Lee factor. Oliver came from Canada and knows hockey as well as how to motivate when it counts. All I am saying is the Spuds better not overlook the rams or they wont make the X.

God help wh [-o< ever gets in their way! =P~

Phillippi

Joe Phillippi has had a very good year for Hill-Murray. He is much improved from his sophomore year last season. He is a very solid goaltender. He had two outstanding games against WBL to win 2-1 and 3-2. He gave up 3 goals in 102 minutes against a high-powered STA team, a 4-1 win and a 2-1 loss. He was very tough in beating Benilde-SM and Wayzata and in losing to Holy Angels 3-0. He and the D had a very poor start against Moorhead and fell behind 3-0 in the first 8 minutes on Saturday. HM's D and goaltending have been assets all season long. The D plays tough physical defense and they stay at home. This HM team has only lost to the #1 and #2 ranked AA teams and the #1 ranked A team this year.

Tartan had a horrible year. They had a very strong JV last year and a 4th year starter returning in goal. They beat Century in early December. But they got worse as the year went along. They took stupid penalties game after game. They managed to lose to North St. Paul last week, the worst team that I saw this year. Then instead of shaking hands they fought with them like 5th graders on the playground. They couldn't beat Phillippi on the ice so they show up to taunt him from the stands. They're a collection of rock heads with no class.

If Phillipi is anything like his dad or older brother, he is a classy kid.

Take it easy on Doran, so what if he is terrible at hockey, he can stil go out with his buddies and have fun.

Can't pick them all - nice win for the Spuds. They have proved over the long haul that they are the real deal and a threat to contend for the State Title. Will the slapshooter jinx continue for these poor boys from the Western Front? Stay tuned for details.

I think we need a 2007 Section and State "Fluke" Thread.
