Somebody who was at the game please provide a breakdown. Sounds like a pretty crazy game. How did Luverne give up 7? I thought LD would get 4 maybe 5 but 7? Wow.

Just a clarification, only one player on Luverne left South Dakota hockey, it is was the goalie. The other "SD" players that moved (like 3 total) have been playing in Luverne youth hockey ever since they started. Tough tough loss for the Cardinals. Wild game to listen to.

What were the antics this time? Couldn't make it to the game tonight...That team just doesn't know how to lose with any class at all!

Did Bill Buckner or Steve Bartman get put in goal for Luverne? 35 seconds away from glory and suddenly its gone. The only thing more devasting would be the goalie gave up the equalizer with les then five seconds remaining! !

I always find such humor on this thread how every rails on 16-18 year old kids, no matter what town they're from, "Uncle Rico Syndrome". But I'm curious too as what the classless acts the Luverne Faithful were doing?

And yes 2.5 hours is a long drive, especially at 10, with a 12roller of Schells and a spliff.

My guess is it's closer to a case of Schells light.

Well, yeah. Grab the second 12er at the halfway point, and a bag of funyons.
Thankfully they're not returnables so a game of sign target practice is possible.

Is the quiet deafening, or is the noise so loud we ought to be quiet?

scratch that 45 shots per game
If Luverne gets 45 shots they will score 10 goals.
Just not enough shots!

rails on 16-18 year old kids
I don't see much of that on this thread. I see some adults having a good time harmlessly (for the most part) puffing up their chests and getting out the word about some kids in a far corner of the world that aren't bad hockey players. I see some other adults having a good time harmlessly (for the most part) enjoying when those chests get deflated.

To be a little serious, what a tough way for Luverne to go out losing in OT in the section finals. This had to have been Luverne's best look at some success at State in years. Smezrud is a senior, who knows what Nelson's plans are, I would think the USHL will be high on the recommendation list from the Gophers. I know there is a good group of Sophs coming up but that is a lot of firepower to lose.

Good luck to LDC. What a ride.

Well here we are again. Can't believe Nelson sticks around after this. For what? Some decent younger players, but if you don't beg, borrow, steal, or TEACH some defense at some point it won't matter. Can it be more obvious? Feel sorry for some of these kids but it seems like your problems down there are internal. Fix it or learn to live in groundhogs day.

Shots were 41-38 Litchfield.

Chaz had 3 goals and Jaxon had 3 goals. With Chaz graduating, the question is really about what Jaxon does next year.

That's the problem, they are getting players from the wrong Dakota.

Love or hate Luverne they are getting some publicity down on the prairie and are raising the profile of high school hockey in both South Dakota and Iowa. I know some people in that area and the neighboring programs follow Luverne's moves and want to be like them someday. It's one of the reasons i follow the 3A thread, that and it is wildly entertaining. Raising the profile of the sport in that neck of the woods and spreading the game is a good thing. An appearance at State would have done some great things for that area. Alas, it wasn't meant to be.
