new ulm tripping players

Hockey Bob,, the new ulm player you mentioned that trips players at the end of the game,, is it # 15? As at the end of the LDC game,, New Ulm's # 15 took a cheap shot at a LDC player,, hooking his skate to make him fall.. The LDC player was enjoying the win, and decided to ignore the act... I watched this on tape in slow motion,, and felt that it was not the actions a good player would take.... Kinda fit's into what you read about in here of New Ulm's actions to games they lose.

#15 is who I was referring to in my earlier post. I believe it was French. I watched them play a few times this year and was not inpressed with his play. He had some games earlier in the year where he was in the box as much as he was on the ice (something like 5 penalties a game for the first 3 or 4 games!!). Wow, what a captain. I don't think NU will miss not having him next year. One of my friends from NU sent me a link to an article in the NU newspaper on French from last week talking about how French had changed his ways, ect. I just had to laugh when I read it.

French does have his off games, but when he played well, the whole team performed way better. I have grown up around him and I've been on various teams with him, including football and baseball. And to be honest, he has improved his attitude a great deal. He is a very passionate player and gets caught up quite a bit, which is no excuse, but when he was younger he was much worse. I'm not saying he's changed into a saint, but he has improved substantially.

Players passionate about the game don't go around tripping opponents after the game is over or hooking them in the nuts long after the whistle.

A player who is passionate about the game will respect the game..and to respect the game means to respect the rules thereby not tripping or slashing opponents just to make themselves feel better for losing to a team they thought they would walk right by to state.

Didn't french get kicked off the baseball team for charging the mound after someone said "go back to your farm." after he got struck out?

Re French and baseball. He did not get kicked off the team for charging the mound. Two years ago in Edina, after French pitched a great game and NU lost 3-2 in the bottom of the 7th on an error, the "Cake Eaters" taunted a couple of NU players during the handshake and did say "go back to farm fields boys". French and the other NU players were pissed and mixed words. Nothing else happened, the Edina parents after the game were griling brats and invited the NU kids over. Later that week NU recieved an apology from Edina for their choice of words when going through the line. Thats what happened, I was there.

Regarding French in general, he is a multi talented, passinate student athlete. Meet him in person and you will be very impressed with his maturity and respect for adults, he is a true gentleman. Has he, and does he make mistakes during athletic events, yes. Does he get a bad wrap for what does, most definitly. If any one of you had to select a team for football, hockey or baseball, you would certainly put him on your team. The only reason you cut him down is because you have to play against him and he generally has beat you or your team.

He is, in a pure athletic view, one of the best all around athletes NU has seen in quite a few years. He makes mistakes without a doubt, but anyone of you would love him on your team.

Wow, French alone has beat every single one of us single handedly? No, The entire team earns a win, not one single player.

Average baseball player.

Don't know much about football other than he must not have done too much for them considering they haven't had an above .500 record in the 4 years that he has been in high school(not necessarily on the varsity team)

But this should be discussed on another message board instead of the hockey board.

I was pretty impressed with Litchfield's goalie Lucas Johnson yesterday against Warroad. He was definitely the only factor preventing that game from being 15-0. It seemed to me that every shot the Warriors took was quality, and Johnson made the save 90% of the time, can't ask for much more from a goalie...if only the rest of the team could get a few more shots and tested Warroads net minder

Haven't heard anything about today's game other than Litch lost 7-0...i kind of expected West to take it to them worse than Warroad. I think this west team would beat Warroad if they had played.

Average baseball player, you say?! He is one of the single best baseball players to play for New Ulm. And in case you didn't know, NU has state championship titles under their belt in baseball. Right now, I can't think of anyone on the team better than him. Amazing hitter, pitcher, and can play ANY position in the field.

Regarding football, he was all-conference linebacker three years in a row.

I would take Edina's goalie over LDC's.

Wouldn't Edina still need to score a goal to win the championship
and i don't think giving up 7 to Mankato would be a person i would want for that game.

we can only [-o< that this section is dissolved and some better programs put into it. There were so many other teams around the state that deserved to go to state before any team from section 3A.

Wow, I could not agree more. What a shame that Mankato West, Rochester Lourdes, Albert Lea, Red Wing, and New Prauge all teams that would mop up in 3A had to battle it out for one spot. Well one more season with this line up and it gets shuffled again. Hopefully they will put LDC back up near St. Cloud, Willmar back north and Hutch into the west metro and bring the Mankato schools back in to this section. It is no surprise that the winner of 3A was eliminated before the first period of the AA game was over.

seems to me many other teams got beat just as bad or worse than LDC, not saying this is a perfect system, but it is what it is, Looked like Blaine the first night against Roseau, was in the same situation or worse, they were done at the drop of the puck, dont see anybody bashing them, and then you can say what did Roseau do after that, ITS ALL perspective, Congrats to LDC, it was not their fault let it lie and enjoy----- and we all know after next year IT WILL change

LDC didn't even score a single goal. They were by far the worst team in both tournaments. Don't try comparing them to Blaine, Blaine would destroy LDC.

Get real, im not comparing Blaine to LDC, just the scores, you cant blame LDC for this, heck i think they made respectable, getting beat 4-0 in the first round is alot better than 8-2, . But for all the haters out there if you say LDC should be removed because they lost 4-0, then start looking at the others that got beat worse. It is what it is, LDC, Marshall, New Ulm, Hutch, Willmar, Windom cant change it, so get off their back, if anything the great wizards should look at the private domination of class A , but that is on another thread....
