It is easy to just ignore prejudice and pretend it doesnt exist.
But the Catholic athlete knows better.
He/she hears the chants. The kids know that whatever they accomplish will be belittled and diminished because they had 'the upper hand'.
They know that they are considered traitiors by some and are called that by their bantam coaches for their choice of school
They know that some youth programs have policies that attempt to keep kids going to Catholic schools from the 'A' teams.
They know that their choice of school is attributable by some as not a decision made based on faith but because they were recruited
They know that people dont want them to compete with everybody else because they are different.
Packerboy and many others know these things too.
A lot of posters dont want these things brought out. They are difficult to deal with.
"Lock it up"they say.
Not a new appraoch. Censorship is great tool to promote understanding.
"Dont be belligernet because its no way to defend these fine young players'"they say. Easy to say sitting at your computer. Harder when your sons come home and tell you that their youth coach called them traitors.
But there will always be critics. Ted Kennedy wants us to get out of Iraq. My response: "Keep your pants on Ted."

But we arent in as much pain as the public schools have been.
2005 Schwans Cup all divisons champs.
2006 A and AA champs.
2006 Schwans champ and runner up .
2007 A and AA not yet in the books. Gotta wait for that ..until Lent

Funny how when PBoy was Slappy's parrot in previous years, he was just fine with that. Now that he has some competition for Pboy's attention from Mr. Pierre, he is "not down with that". Can't have it both ways Shooter. Who can forget your endless banter with PBoy last year, always ending with, "Right Joe" or "Right Packerboy". Looks to me like you've met your match with Ankles Jr. Some of the other gutless posters may choose to "wash your feet" (Elliott, etc) and lay in fear of your bully pulpit, but looks like now you've got a few who choose not to and you're not a big fan. Oh well, you can always say.......

Elliott was on the thread battling (and winning) before Slappy joined.
But I confess Slappy is much better at this than I, and as a Catholic and former private player, brings better insight than I can.
Pacman keeps insisting that public schoolers resent Catholics. But he continues to use the word 'SOME'. Yes, some do, just as 'SOME' private school supporters (even though they come from a very fine public school system), continue to belittle public schools and their hockey players.
I am in agreement with PacMan, wait until Lent. Then we can bow to one or the other at some fine doiwntown St. Paul establishment and wet our throats at the same time.
And Angus, Slappy is king of this board.
I just like to watch 'some' try to keep up, unlike the Catholic hockey players, they cannot compete.

So I have a question for Packerboy and Ankels since you guys seem so high on Catholic school or just being catholic in general. What about all the Catholic kids that play for public schools? This probably was answered and maybe I missed it. I guess if you are so high up on catholics, don't you pretty much have to cheer for everyone, since there is probably one on every team?

Well eliott, of course its "some". But some is enough as history has shown us down through the ages.
I realize there is a lot of BS to wade thru to get to the meaning of packerboy's "belittleing" of public schools and especially confusing because packerboy attended public school.
But packerboy has made it clear that he has nothing against public schools. It is only those who rely on 'they recruit' and refuse to examine their many flaws as reasons for people choosing Catholic schools that packerboy assails.

Catholics are for public schools and we have cheered their teams success, especialy when they are playing St .Thomas Academy.
