I had the pleasure of watching the 2AA sectional playoff game between Roseville and St. Paul Blades. The Blades have a 9th grader, Cassie Vennemann #22, who really stood out. She is very strong on her feet and made some huge defensive plays. Played varsity as an 8th grader, although she didn't see alot of ice then, she was consistently on the ice for the Roseville game. She will be interesting to watch over the next few years.

Burke is a great choice but I believe she is a Junior, at least that's what the Star Trib indicates.

Sadie Lundquist-2 game winning goals in the state tournament and 2 goals in the section final to get there. Shes got great hands and seems to always get those big time goals.

Anna Lipetzky (spelling) from moorhead very quick player and good hands. Very fast as well. can take it from one end to the other easy.

Isn't Janessa Haller going to be in 11th grade at Breck?

I think you may be getting her confused with Barton who also is new to Breck but a Jr. (from St. Francis). Haller is a soph but plays like a Sr )I'm quite certain... from Anoka). Both are strong players, and should help Breck make a nice run at State Tourney participation this year.

Up north, look for Kaia Sele in net for Bemidji. Bemidji had a solid senior last year who graduated, and Sele is next in line.

Keep an eye on Sarah Fredregill at Lakeville North - good skater, fast, strong, good hands...made varsity last yr but missed a big part of the season with injuries. She could have a big year as a soph

you can't only be lookin at the southern girls... there are some pretty good girls up north too... I agree with whoever was in favor of adding molly arola and i'd like to see jessica havel of GRG Lightning added to the list as well. she's a solid young goaltender that'll excell with a little experience...

southern minn?

Obvioulsy the south isn't as well respected as the north as far as historical hockey power, but that doesn't mean that there aren't great players all over the state - metro/outstate, north/south, etc., etc.

I don't know SW teams, but here's a few I know of:
Amber Ostoff - D Mankato West
Kyli Ellingson - D - Austin
Jenna Christensen - F - Albert Lea
Tara Rasmussen - F - Dodge County
Alyssa Black - F - Mankato West
Alyssa Weise - F - Rochester Mayo
Liz Maidl - G - Rochester Century

Liz Maidl from Century faced 70 shots last night against Albert Lea. That game could have ended up much worse than 7-0 had it not been for the strong game by Liz Maidl. She looked good, held her composure and looked confident.

Jenna Christensen from Albert had a 5 point game with 4 g and 1 a in the game against Century.

A couple of nice Sophomore players there.

If not mentioned before - HM #7 Knajdek may be on e of the best Sophomore D in the state. I've seen her play 4x now this year, and each time she has impressed me.

Sadie Lundquist for Cloquet. She's had a great start for the Lumberjacks this season.

Ashley Olson from Fairmont is a very good player and only a Sophomore. Too bad she's stuck out in the Southwest.
