Mostly good intentions posted but I think that some of you are missing the point. 'Sioux' is not a respectable name. It has a meaning that the founders of UND used by mistake. 'Sioux' still means 'Snake or Enemy'. 100 plus years of history does not change that. IF those currently involved with UND (Admin., Alumni, Faculty, Students and Fans) have any common sense, decency or respect they would realize the mistake and make the correction. The place to start is with leaders of Dakota, Lakota and Nakota Nations... <br><br>Chippewa and Ojibwe are not correct either. 'Oshie' is a Anishinabe. I should know, I am Anishinabe as well (I bet you did not know that did you Slappy?)... Hence my name, 'ThunderStorm' (English translation). The '22' is my favorite number. The French were told Anishinabe but thought 'Ojibwe' (Lost in translation). The English translated Ojibwe into Chippewa... Go figure... The Dakota are eastern members of their people, Lakota are western and Nakota are southern. 'Sioux' was a name given to the Dakota by the Anishinabe for obvious reasons. The Anishinabe and Dakota became enemies when the Anishinabe moved into the then Dakota (Minnesota) region in the early 1700's. 'Little Crow' may be the most famous Dakota while 'Red Cloud', 'Sitting Bull' and 'Man Who Makes His Horse Crazy' are Lakota... Wisconsin has been the best team in the country for most of the season, Elliott being sidelined was their only hiccup. That being said, they have been choke artists in the playoffs in recent memory, and BC has found a way to get it done with some big plays. I'll take BC 4-2 (EN). <p></p><i></i>
