I don't care what the game is for, they need to protect the goalie in his crease. Some of this, most of it, isn't going hard to the net. If they call it no one has to lay any lumber. This isn't the NA3HL.

And Screw the Wild......pulling the contract card so the game can't be on the radio. Instead we got Wild pregame for 45 minutes.
I don't think you understand what I am saying. I don't want it to be some blood and guts game but if you take away the ability of the D to defend the goalie then forwards will run the net with impunity. You can call penalties and it will still happen because it is a price worth paying. There has to be a balance to the game and some self policing.

Oh yeah, that was no goal either. Totally redirected that into the net.

  • Borderline calls going against Duluth.
    The lucky bounce goal.
Chances not converted where you'd swear they'd bury it.
Momentum turner where nearly 2-0 up a team went 1-2 down.
    Post/crossbar and out.
Can't wait to see how many people attribute sports' inevitable randomness to "coaching" on the part of Randolph. If Giles gets outcoached when all these things go the wrong way for his team, will the same people say the same tonight if Minnetonka holds on for their first state title?

(I don't subscribe to the always blame the coach theories. I think both Giles and Randolph know what they are doing.)
Nah. Not a lot of similarities. East outplayed Edina completely.

Big dick Bobby might be a first rounder next year. He's a stud.

And yes in regular season that would have been 5 on Bob.

An interesting interpretation of last night's action, or lack of it. Once Duluth East had a lead they chipped it when possible to neutral and if they gained the red threw it deep and forced Edina to gain zones all night. It was a great game plan that worked because they have a lot of very good players.

Shots were 8-4-6=18 for the game, which includes the game-winning dump in and late empty net goal. Normally when a team "outplays" someone I expect them to get to the net more than once in a great while.

Congratulations to Duluth East. A great win for them. Great season.

Hunter Paine has drawn 3 penalty’s tonight (against Tonka) But DE just can’t convert!

DE plays well enough to win...Misses too many open nets and 0-fer on the PP...Damn shame.

Empty netter seals it. Congratulations to Minnetonka! Great team! They beat an excellent Duluth East team in the final.

GREAT SEASON FOR THE HOUNDS. That said...MINNETONKA was the BEST TEAM in 2017-2018! 👍

Yeah, they'd only be six runner-ups short.

Well, if my counting skills are accurate, East has now lost 6 state title games after tonight's loss. Are the Hounds trying to be better than the Spuds at winning AND losing state title games? Only 2 more losses and they tie Moorhead, Lee!

Gotta feel for Duluth East. Definitely had ever opportunity to win that game.

Won’t be back for a while, either. Donovan leaving for juniors, Worth and Mageau graduating, WMD dismantled. Might not have another shot for a very long time.

As much as I love Randolph, his style of play is tiring and can make kids exhausted come the third game. Might want to rethink strategy if his goal is to win championships.

Congrats to Tonka on their first title, hope your fans enjoy it as much as us GR folks did last year. They were the best team most of the year and the best team tonight. East gave a good fight but missed too many good opportunities.

Impressive to have 3 of 4 teams in the finals the last 2 years from the north.

Nah. Moorhead with zero titles trumps all. Oh, Hill-Murray has eight losses, also.

The open nets were puck luck that finally went Tonka's way (more than I could've asked for). Tonka has been consistent killing penalties all season long. Amazing D.

East had some good scoring chances, but they seemed to fan on a lot of shots close to the net and also the D-men had troubles keeping the puck in the offensive zone. Minnetonka played well, but East could have executed better. As previously mentioned, it just wasn't East's night.
