Coaches rank the seven teams besides their own, the high and low rankings are thrown out giving each team 5 scores. The 5 scores are then totaled up and the teams are placed 1-5 accordingly. One coach can not, by himself, influence the rankings.
I understand the situation very well. And no, one coach cannot dictate, but I am saying that each coach (and team) has a specific perception, probably unlike all of ours. Those together gave EP the 1 seed last year and put Bemidji and Rapids in the 4-5 game.

"You don't understand the system in place then." ... You must not know who I am or my background. That's fine. I understand how this works. Very, very well.
Let me guess....a backup high school goalie?
Certainly not how I would define my life.

Nobody should want the old system. You really want to see the championship, Thursday at 11:00. That isn't good for anyone. Getting the final 4 to Friday night should be the ideal situation.

Most camparisions are what twin cities team you beat or lost to. Outstate has some very good teams also. Moorhead is 8-1-2 against city teams and Grand Rapids is 8-2-1 against city teams.

I'm pretty sure most "twin cities" teams don't keep track of wins or losses against "northern teams". Lots of great hockey and teams from all over the state. It seems to me it's just the north that's "geographist". Bigots.

Interesting. Not in favor necessarily, but what if?

(after last night's updates)

AA (if Stillwater wins)

1. Eden Prairie
2. St. Thomas Academy
3. Stillwater
4. Moorhead
5. Maple Grove

Unseeded: Grand Rapids, Lakeville South, Wayzata

If Hill-Murray wins:

1. Eden Prairie
2. St. Thomas Academy
3. Moorhead
4. Hill-Murray

5-8 stay the same

Lee
I would guess that this is how it will be.

Bad thing about Hill-Murray winning (well, one bad thing) is that it increases the chance of Moorhead playing Rapids in the quarterfinals. Wish they would see all eight. Never saw the point in only seeding some.

Agree on the north/north possibility but it probably is the most likely 1-5.

I think it is 50/50. Eden Prairie won't play conference rival Wayzata.

South or Grand Rapids gets EP.

1: EP
2: St. Thomas
3. Maple Grove
4: Moorhead
5: GR
6: Hill
7: Wayzata
8: L. South

Not a prediction, it's how I see it.

Probably best game of the day. Revenge for Rapids. Casey vs Rapids Big 3 forwards. Fantastic.

Well, Hill's win tonight throws a wrench in things. I'm feeling pretty good about this as 1-3:

1. EP
2. STA
3. Moorhead

And we know LS and Wayzata won't be seeded. As in A, 4/5/first team out is the question mark.

You'd figure MG would be ahead of HM, given their head-to-head win. Based on overall season and that Stillwater upset, HM probably gets an edge over GR, but I wouldn't object to it going the other way.

I'd also have zero complaints at all about a GR-HM 4/5 game, though that would be very unfortunate for Maple Grove.

I also think the all-Lake battle in the first round would be pretty fun, but we'll see on that one. Would prefer not to see GR against Moorhead (all north) or EP (too soon) in the first round. GR-STA, on the other hand, would be great, with the biggest fan favorite taking on the evil empire, and a lot of goals likely in the offing...

I don't think the Eagles will be denied all the marbles this year but I believe the Injuns could make it interesting with them.

EP isn't the evil empire, Hill is........c'mon man!

EP/ Middlestadt will have lots of fans outside the EP crowd...Hill....not so many.

Conspiracy theory is this is the game 45 wants.....be it Thursday, Friday, or Saturday. The only guarantee is Thursday though.

Good take. Agree on the GR Moorhead game for obvious reasons. And would rather not play EP in the first round. I would actually prefer to be on the other side of EP in the bracket. On paper it seems like it might be an exciting rematch but I just think Casey is on a mission and GR's defense, while capable, is not smothering. A GR STA match sounds pretty ideal.

I think anybody can win this one. Okay, maybe not South. But the rest? Sure. It's gonna be the best in years.

I was calling the STA the evil empire, not EP. It applies to both, though. :)

There are so many story lines here.....
Grand Rapids.....small school from the North
Casey Middlestadt returning to win it
Moorhead a bridesmaid so many times
The evil empire back again
STA made a name and a program by getting Lakeville defectors....how about that for Thursday?
Wayzata, defending champs with a losing record....
And Maple Grove.....didn't they have a shooting there recently (that's all I got there)

What AA empire has STA built? Great school and they (finally) opted up.

Distasteful, but not evil.

STA is the evil Empire. You never saw Hill running up their trophy count in class A. 😂😂😂
Hill played a lot of teams in the tourney, tied EP, split with STA, lost 2-0 (ENG) vs MG, lost in OT to MH, tied Wayzata. A 1-3-2 record isn't great vs these teams, they had some quality wins vs teams who got upset in their section though (wins vs ER, Edina & Stillwater). I think they are the 1 team that is tough to gauge where they should go. An argument for Hill, GR & MG could be justified for the 4/5 seed, it'll be interesting to see how the coaches see it tomorrow morning. Whoever gets STA pulls the upset.
