9. B/W
Can someone clearly explain how Little Falls got seated above Fergus Falls.
IMO it appears as though the Otters 2 losses to LF 1-0 and 5-1 carries more weight than the Otters 2 wins over the Cardinals. LF was soundly beaten each time they played the Cards.
Who makes the decisions on the seating and what is taken into account?
Can a coach just vote against a team if they just plain don't like you?
A little confused here in Otter Country

I would guess whoever voted, had Fergus and Little falls at 4 and 5, and since Little Falls beat Fergus twice, they gave Little Falls the nod. Tough call either way. I do think that either team can win that game, and either team has an outside shot at knocking off Cathedral. Tough section.

FF wins against Alex must have been thrown out of the equation in some people's eyes.

Fergus had 5 losses in the section. Little Falls 6, but Little Falls played Cathedral twice, and Fergus only played them once. I had Fergus at 4 and LF at 5 based upon watching them both several times and the LSQ rankings. Still not sure how they lose to LF twice??

They scored fewer goals.

Looks like seeding was pretty much spot on. Alexandria vs Cathedral for the trip to State!
GO CARDS!

It would be great to see Alexandria in the tournament! Good program going out there!

The feeder program is really taking off. My kiddos got started in the youth program this year. My daughter's 8U team had 28 girls on it, while my son's 6 year old mite team had 18 boys on it. I thought I heard at one time, there were 370 kids in the youth program this year. I think that is a pretty good number for a Class A school.

Things are getting interesting at the MAC! SCC went up 3-0 after two, but Alex has tallied two goals in the third, one on the power play. SCC is attempting to kill off a five minute CFB.
Alex did have a goal waved off earlier according to their announcers.

And that's the game, 3-2 Cathedral over Alexandria.

Yes, 200 skaters about 8 years ago. 370++ now. Youth program really strong with regular trips to state. Great coaches top to bottom for both boys and girls.
The game tonight. Ref's swallowed their whistles and Cathedral took advantage of the loose game. Not sure why the goal was waived off. Breakaway for Alex, Cathedral player hooked the shooter. Goalie falls into the net with the puck before any whistle.
Cards came storming back in the 3rd. 3-2 game. 5 minute power play. Delay of game penalty evens it up to 4on4 hockey. Ensuing faceoff, centers get tangled up and they call Alex for tripping. Oooo... found our whistle.
All that being said, Cathedral is a strong team. Game could have gone either way. Cards fall one comeback short. Good luck to any public schools that make the tourney.

Great game! The goal was correctly waved off as the goalie was pushed into the net after stopping the original shot. That said, there could have been a hooking call. But, there were 2 blatant slashes where an Alex player slashed the stick out of the cathedral players hands that weren't Called. Honestly, the Alex goalie made 4 or 5 UNBELIEVABLE saves....and Cathedral hit 2 crossbars. either way, great game...Alex doesn't quit, they just keep coming and coming. These two teams will be having epic battles for the next few years .... lots of young talent on both sides and both bantam teams will probably go to state this year.

Would love to see the replay on that, as in real time it did not appear to me that he was pushed. Yes, the refs missed a few Alexandria penalties too, but my point was Cathedral pushed the boundaries more, including boarding several times. Cathedral did carry much of the play, especially in the second period.
Cathedral has a bantam team? Hmmm. Which of their recruiting territories are you referring too? St. Cloud, Sartell, Sauk Rapids, River Lakes, or some other youth program??

Oh boy...here comes the typical "recruiting" sour grapes. Whatever.
Anyway, obviously I was referring to St. Cloud bantams where a large number will be playing for Cathedral next year. I'm not aware of any bantams from the other programs you mentioned coming to cathedral next year...but again, whatever

No sour grapes whatsoever. As a private high school, it is the nature of the beast. I would assume a fair amount of those who enroll at Cathedral do so for various reasons including culture, education and sports. I have always thought that most privates are not out "recruiting", rather parents of quality players are out kicking tires on where to open enroll.
That being said, it is sweeter to celebrate success with players and families who all grew up together from Mites. I often wonder how the parents get along behind the scenes at some of these privates. Is it like the Blake Girls, where only 80 people show up at the state tournament, and they all sit in clusters of 2 or 3 apart from each other?

I should have worded my original post as "feeder" territories, not "recruiting".

Was at the game. Very entertaining. Definitely thought the refs forgot their whistles. Alex had a golden opportunity with the 5 min PP then blew the chance with two quick penalties of their own. SCC has a nice team, speed, playmakers, scorers and a couple guys that like to bang. They definitely have some advantages, not the least of which is playing the sections on their home rink. I think they should be moved out of Section 6 for that reason. Puttimg them back in 5 would be the right thing to do.

We don't want them... You're fortunate enough to have them in your geographical area..

The families of these talented kids will continue to flock to private programs.... Since they pretty much get a golden ticket to the X.
The problem would be solved if they put all the privates in one or two sections... Of only privates!

That's great! Recruiting and building numbers should always be the number one priority in any association.

It's basically Tier 1 Hockey in Minnesota but much cheaper and don't have to travel all over the country.

So the question remains, 'When is SCC opting up to AA?"

I'm a grad - wanted them to years ago.
Really want their baseball team to move up a class, as well.
