ifan.tv absolutely sucks. Their feed rarely works and there is no HD option. Which is would be understandable if it was 2003.

What is really bad is who is sitting in my old chair at the IRA. The music selection is brutal. I rarely hear anything from past 1985. American Woman by Lenny Kravitz during warmups every game, "The Hey Song" during a faceoff in the middle of the 2nd period, and YMCA. I couldn't be more awful if I tried. There are so many resources to play good music. Such as on spotify the LA Kings have their list up under "LA Kings 2015-2016". And I appreciate the use of old classic rock and older music (sparingly), but warmups should have songs like "Blame" from Calvin Harris and "Wake Me Up" by Avicii as you'll find in any NHL arena lately.

Move back to the lower 48 and reclaim the boombox throne you once controlled, back when you rocked you orange #6 jersey from the penalty box. Then Sats can criticize your music selection along with every other thing you say or do.

Never wore a jersey in that setting but I think from time to time of stopping in for a game because I really do enjoy getting the crowd going and seeing how much the players enjoy it. Was really cool getting compliments from Alex Goligoski and other players at that time.

Sadly, no. The company that owns WMFG in Hibbing streams their other stations, but for some unknown reason they do not stream WMFG.

As for video, I thought Hibbing was going to be doing the same thing as GR with the whole pay for a video package through NFHS, but I have yet to see anything.

(On a side note, Mesabi Community Television in Virginia does a fantastic job with hockey games, better than anything I've seen from iFan.tv out of Duluthm the Cube, or NFHS. They have multiple camera angles, an announcer who actually took the time to learn opposing player's names/numbers, and an embedded view of the scoreboard so you always know score, time, even shots. Wish Hibbing had that.)

Overall a really fun game. Memorial Building was 95% full, had to be 2,500-3,000 people there.

Rapids had a decided advantage in play, but Hibbing did a good job keeping most of the shots to the outside and letting Ullan make the save. Rapids forecheck gave Hibbing defense fits, as expected. Some Hibbing players looked way too tentative and nervous, which only made things worse.

Part way into the game, the BAM line was reunited, and they were excellent. I wasn't as impressed with lines 2 and 3 for GR. GR defense did a good job of moving the puck quickly to prevent Hibbing from getting much of a forecheck going.

It was a good dose of reality for Hibbing, as they saw the type of team they will have to beat if they want to go to state. (How did GR lose to Hermantown 5-0?!!)

First goal was controversial, as a Hibbing defenseman was clearly injured and couldn't get up, but the refs just let the game keep going for what seemed like forever until GR scored. That was essentially a pp goal.

2nd goal was a nice redirection by Mattson on the pp.

3rd goal was a shorty by Miller, although there was some controversy as Ullan made the save, but he got barreled into by both Miller and Perunovich. Refs ruled Perunovich pushed Miller into Ullan.

So, as some people are fond of saying about the Hibbing-Greenway game: GR didn't score any even strength goals!

Usually I root for GR to win 7AA, but the group of drunken adult GR fans yelling and heckling Perunovich was so awful I don't think I can root for that team to win anything, given it might provide those doofuses with a moment of happiness. What's worse, these cowards waited until the game was in hand to start their chanting. If kids want to heckle other kids, fine, but grown men heckling high school kids? Pathetic. Not to mention coming to a high school event three sheets to the wind.

Congrats to the T-Hawk players on a nice win, they are a talented bunch!

GR dominated them in the 1st, H-town never had any sustained pressure but, wouldn't you know they clear the puck on the PK just as a guy is coming out of the box and up 1-0 after 1. Their goalie stood on their head and didn't give up any rebounds. Just one of those games that gets away sometimes. Trent Klatt doesn't hold back in interviews when he is mad, and he thought his team played well in that loss.

Welcome back aboard the East bandwagon!

Despite what some said, Rapids is certainly the more skilled team of these two, and should've been the favorite coming in. Still, getting that forecheck rolling and keeping Perunovich off the board are good signs. Hibbing had yet to play someone of Rapids' caliber, so hopefully it's a good learning experience. They've got some other top-flight A teams left on the schedule (TRF, Apollo), plus the Greenway rematch and the Hermantown game to close the season. We'll see if that's enough to prep them for a strong playoff run.

Fair enough, didn't see the game, just saw how good GR was and it filled me with terror thinking that Hermantown was good enough to beat them 5-0.

I do have a couple buddies who are former Hound players, but I hide my GR rooting during sections and then watch the tourney with them and then I go full Greyhound.

Either way, a GR-DE 7AA final would be the most exciting match-up, IMO.

An encouraging game from GR. There were just a couple times they looked like the players on the ice were out-of-sync or dogging it. The lapses are getting much shorter - tonight maybe a couple 10 second blocks I thought. Otherwise, they seemed to play hard and smart the whole game.

The dumb penalties seem to be fading away as well. It is starting to look like Klatt is getting them going in the right direction. I hope they can keep it up.

Too bad some impaired GR fans were heckling a high school kid. These are school kids, so to me, yelling at them is off limits. Hopefully, someone local saw it and helps them improve.

The playlist at IRA is terrible. I feel like it is a molding relic from 1983 (I have this mental picture of Miss Havisham from Great Expectations managing the music there). Personally, I'd like to see them come out on the ice to Metallica - Enter Sandman, or Clutch - The Mob Goes Wild. Of course, those would require the crowd to actually respond with some enthusiasm, or it would seem lame. But, as long as the team plays hard and shows good sportsmanship, I will be satisfied with sitar music or Lawrence Welk.

I honestly thought Hibbing was going to be better tonight with all the talk of them being undefeated. I guess that is a result of playing a softer schedule. Ullan was solid in goal. Very impressive for a freshman. Not all of Rapids shots were high quality but facing 42 shots is a challenge nonetheless. Perunovich was not impressive at all. He did not look like the "best player of the north". He wasn't even the best #7 out there! McLaughlin was winning battles with him most of the night and Miller out skated him to score his shorty. Maybe he just had an off night.

Rapids continued with some more line shuffling to start but maybe halfway through the Mattson-Bischoff-Adams line was reunited and Hain was moved back to forward alongside McLaughlin and Miller. Good call by Klatt, Rapids was fore checking strong and needed a little more juice to get them by Ullan. Rapids defenseman played a very solid game. They are becoming very active with their sticks and taking out the body. It was difficult for Hibbing to get much momentum with the puck. Good confidence booster for Rapids.

I hope Hibbing can use this as a learning experience. They have a good team with an awesome goalie but were just overwhelmed tonight. I really wanna see them beat Hermantown and come out of 7A! Best of luck.

I don't know of anywhere that collects attendance records. It certainly occurred routinely in East-Cloquet games in the 2000s at the DECC when both were good. Probably also at Aldrich when White Bear and Hill shared that arena and were both good. Braemar has a capacity over 3,000, so I'd guess it happened most recently there.

East at GR was standing room only, probably around 2700.

I think the IRA has a capacity near 2500. It is routinely maxed out every year during the big games.
