1. Alex - undisputable the top team with only one section loss all year
2. Fergus Falls - beat Apollo twice and was the only team to beat Alex, did lose and tie to Sartell which might hurt them, their loss to Cathedral was early on and is mostly irrelevant
3. Apollo - this is where it gets tricky, they lost to Cathedral earlier in the year but have impressive wins over teams Cathedral has lost to much more recently. Also they managed to skate with Alexandria in both games, and the fact that they play each section team twice may help them
4. Cathedral - could be the 3, but I have them at the 4 because of their recent losses to both Little Falls and Orono, two teams that Apollo has beaten. Also their 10 losses look very unimpressive and I think hurts them.
5. Sartell - only one section win against teams above them vs Fergus Falls, and a tie vs Sauk Rapids isn't going to help them
6. Little Falls - they did lose to Sauk Rapids, but I think that their win over Cathedral caries some weight and could put them ahead of Sauk.
7. Sauk Rapids - Could be interchangeable with Little Falls, and their tie with Sartell could help them get the 6
8-11. These teams will probably be completely irrelevant but I'd say Northern Lakes, Prairie Center, Wadena, Breckenridge
Well put, only exception could switch Sartell and Cathedral.

Coaches submitted seed rankings last night and this morning. Expect out no later than noon today.

I'd be surprised to see Cathedral at #5. Although they very well could be the weakest of the top 5...they are 3-0 against what would be your 2-4 teams and have played by far the hardest schedule in the section.

agreed but they weere all pretty early in the season... Although I doubt they slip all the way to 5, I think they are probably the 5th best team in the section based on what I've seen.

The strength of schedule argument is a good one.....if you win some of those tough games. They have won 2 games since the 1st week of Jan, those wins were against Virginia 5-0 and Monticello 3-1.

I don't disagree at all. All I'm saying is that schedules aren't comparable, and that all there is to judge on is head to head...and to hockey9011's point, if the early season games don't matter, then what point is there for Cathedral to play section games at all?

Don't misconstrue what I'm saying. This team has been terrible...but have them play any other team's schedule, and their record would be better.

agree with you there.. I just put a little more weight into what has happened recently.. And recently I think they have played like the 5th best team in the section..

two top 20 teams that are rivals facing off at the MAC should be a heck of an atmosphere for a QF game

It is what it is now let the game begin.

Do not think seeds will make a difference, best TEAM will advance to state.

Will never understand how Cake Eaters go 3-7 in last ten games and get a 2 seed. Three wins over Prairie Center 5-20, Monticello 9-16 and Virginia 8-17

Apollo 7-3
Fergus Falls 7-2-1
Sartell 7-2-1

Was going to pick Apollo to advance if #3, however now may have toughest bracket.

I already told ya...90% of section seedings is based on how you do against section teams.

Also, just to look at other teams...

Fergus Falls 7-2-1 with 4 wins over River Lakes, Sauk Rapids, Willmar, and Wadena.

Sartell is 7-2-1 with wins over Princeton, Prairie Center, Tech, and Brainerd with a tie vs. Sauk Rapids.

If we take Hermantown, Breck, Delano, and Holy Angels and replace them with Willmar, Brainerd, Princeton and Sauk Rapids...Cathedral's 3-7 would turn into 7-3 pretty quick. And if you tagged Breck, Delano, Holy Angels, and Hermantown on to Fergus or Sartell's schedule in place of the teams I mentioned...they're record in the last 10 would look very similar to Cathedral's, if not worse.

Or, we could just look at it from a different perspective. You refer to them as the cake eaters, meaning you don't care much for them in general. That thought process might sway your opinion of them...just a thought.

1. Good for you, if that is the case system is flawed or CE should play more section games

2. But leave out wins over Little Falls and Alexandria that CE loss

3. But again leave out win over Little Falls that CE loss

4. Good one, now counting wins for CE in games did not play

5. Wrong, simply overrated this season. Prior seasons teams were excellent, this is simply not as good of a team. Someone needs to be so they are the Cake Eaters of Central MN, last check Tuition at Cathedral is $10k the other three schools FREE.

My opinion is there is no way to know how Alex , FF, or Apollo would have fared playing the final ten games of Cathedral's schedule because they simply did not play them. There is also no way to know how Cathedral does given any of the other teams' schedules. Apples to oranges. That said, using the teams ' records in the last ten games as a comparison for section seeding is also ridiculous in this case. If the last ten games pln each teams' scheduke somehow were against the same teams, then it would make sense, but that is not even close to the case. Based on each of these teams' seasons, I think the seeds actually make some sense. Alex clearly is in first no questionFF , Apollo , and Sartell have had such similar seasons that they really were a toss up, but I think they are mostly correct in this case. Cathedral on the other hand did not play a similar schedule as everyone else and this is where confusion starts. The whole thing depends on how hard you think their schedule was against how they matched up. Obviously the coaches thought a lot of the schedule that the cake boys played. This is the only excuse , and after a quick glance I cannot argue it, as hard as it for me to say that. Now, what the final ten games of the season is good for is power rankings, or judging the trend of each team. In that case , cathedral falls off a bit.

Absolutely correct. That is more or less the point I was trying to make.

I agree with your entire post.

Okay, not Free but those that attend Private school are paying for both "private" and "public" education. So just tack property tax on top of private tuition...lol

That's the fact Jack! Section 6 is wide open. The most consistent team will win it all. I suspect the Otters will be at the X. Solid tending and consistent.
