Look for Coach Johnson to land in Buffalo. They tried to get him two years ago, but he opted to stay with the Spartans. 8)

Seems like Orono has been going through a coach every few years. What's the deal out there?

I think Johnson had been there five or six years, and took over from his brother-in-law when Weisjahn went back to Armstrong. Haven't heard the back story, but in the release from the AD he cites "communication issues." Johnson has been teaching in Buffalo the last few years, so it's probably a good fit. 8)

Didn't Brad Ryan also coach there recently?

You are correct. I think Ryan was there between Weisjahn and Johnson. Ryan had the team in the tourney in '06 & '07, but they haven't been back since. 8)

Do you think McClanahan would be suitable and /or interested in the Orono job?

Jefferson grad former Star draft pick played in the minors for a while and has been an assistant at SLP with Podein the last couple of years believe he was at Holy Angels before that. Really good hire IMO by Hopkins.

Its Terry Kesely.

Terry is a good guy and will be great for the job. Loves the game of hockey. He has coached at all levels in the Saint Louis Park Hockey Association. His daughter played for the Badgers and I believe the USA womens team for several years. His son played for Gustavus and now plays on the USA National Bandy team where he is a top player on the squad.

Terry brought together a group of kids and coached them throughout the Saint Louis Park program in the late 90's. That group ended up taking SLP to state in the early 2000's. He will do a good job for SLP. Nice to see a school less worried about bringing in some former NHL guy and choosing a guy who has put countless hours into building the program over the years.
