The Minnesota Minute Men: http://www.minnesotaminutemen.com/index ... &Itemid=41

The finalists and the winner each year are selected by "a group of National Hockey League scouts and Division I coaches", all of whom are best buds with Don Lucia.

Rau is the best player this year and has had the best career, IMO.
Everson has had the same career, shuts down Rau, turned down the Gophers for Harvard, will draft higher than Rau and will be Mr MN this year.
Thats "two" high school games vs Edina that Mr. Rau has not scored a point in, being shut down again by, yes, I've been saying this all year, the future 2011 Mr. Hockey Max Everson!!!!

I wouldn't have a problem if Everson won it. Obviously he is a smart and talented kid.

I wouldn't go to level of saying one guy was responsible for keeping an opposing player off of the scoresheet though. It's not like they are playing one on one hockey out there.

Last year he had touble scoring against Tonka and this year Edina. If better high school D can shut him down, how will he fair in the WCHA?

Exactly! Rau also struggle with several of the defensemen in the Elite league this fall.

And my point, if Rau is currently the most dominate high school forward in MN (debatable), what does that say about Everson who has shut him down to “0” points in two games this year??

Does anyone else think it is huge mistake on the U of M part not to have Rau play at least 1 year in the USHL???

I could see Everson winning it. Before Bjugstad, the previous six winners were defensemen from AA teams. Better skaters often gravitate towards playing defense and AA teams get more exposure, so that makes some sense. Am I remembering correctly that Greenway was playing AA back in 2002? If so, a class A player hasn't won it since Johnny Pohl back in 1998. Though I hate to do it, I'm counting Hendrickson out because of the class A thing. It should be between Rau and Everson with the edge to whomever's team makes it further in sections. Edge to Rau if both teams make it to state.

I do agree that this years Mr. Hockey will come from AA. I think it is a two horse race between Rau & Everson and at this point I think the edge goes to Everson, though there is still a couple of more weeks of hockey left. My long shot is Cameranesi, though he would really need to finish strong and need Everson/Rau to falter down the stretch.

I know the nominations should be coming out in a week or so, does anyone know when they actually “vote” on who is Mr. Hockey? I realize it does not get announced until later this year, but at what point to the “guys” dub their man? Is this being done at the same time they are picking the nominations?

For all my fellow KFAN fans this needs to go to common for a preposterous statement nominee. That's also "two" high school games vs. Eden Prairie that Mr. Everson has not scored a point in.
Everson has a whopping FOUR goals on the year and 14 assists, for a grand total of a mind boggling 18 points. Rau has FIFTY-TWO against a harder schedule. I truly don't understand your logic. Yes, Rau hasn't logged a point against Edina (he ringed the bar twice last night though) but Everson has nada against Wayzata (twice), Grand Rapids, Eden Prairie (twice), Blaine, Tonka, and Cretin. And again, only four goals. Yes I know he's on D but he only has 14 assists and if you want to look at that EP has Seeler (D) with 7 goals and 21 assists and Molenaar (D) with 4 goals and 16 assists. When Leddy won it he was in the teens in goals and thirties in assists. This one isn't even close, Mr. Hockey 2011 is Kyle Rau.

You can't judge a defenseman just on his points.... You simply can't....

You can't judge him against forwards but you certainly can against other D. EP has two defensemen who are just as good, if not better than Everson. Leddy was way better than all of them. Defensemen should be able to at least log assists at a very high rate and Everson absolutely does not take over games the way Rau does and Leddy did. But whatever, I'm not worried about it because I know that the voters for Mr. Hockey are not idiots. Rau will win.

In the last game, Rau had two posts and a crossbar and Girard played out of his mind. What does any of this have to do with Everson?
