I hope Section 4A can be represented better than a 2 and out like last year. 4A is too good of a section to be represented like that. I hope that Mahtomedi does well this year. They are very solid all around and I think they should receive a 2 or 3 seed, just my opinion. But good luck to the Zephyrs!

Yea, I concur. He won the game for them two years in a row. Played great even when the Zephs kept passing it to STA's defenseman in an attempt to breakout. Marshall and the 1st line have no problem whatsoever clearing the zone for some reason though! The whole team played their hearts out and I was glad to see them win.
Just like the Zephs did back in 97 and 98, hopefully the second year in a row is better. 97 Zephs were two and BBQ, whereas 98 lost a tough Qtr. final to Eveleth 1-0, who ended up winning it all. Zephs ended up losing the Cons. champ game to the Proctor Rails...but, much better performances than the 2 and out BS.
Hopefully they got the whole "happy to be here" out of them last year and can put together 3 more wins in a row to make it count this year!!

wow what a game! you have to feel for sta, they played a hell of a game. it just was not meant to be. they had to have around 50 shots on the kid. too bad he has his best 2 games of his life in back to back section finals. i admit i am an sta fan, but i think the better team lost tonight. but im glad to see a team like the Zephs go to state. just an all around hard working team. good luck at state!

I was at the game and STA really outplayed mahtomedi in my opinion. I'm not sure what the shots were but I know they were heavily in st thomas' favor. Wohlers played great and I don't want to take anything away from him but STA missed a few scoring oppertunities and it could have very easily been a very different game.

I'm probably just imagining this, or someone would have mentioned it by now. The Mahtomedi goalie wasn't at St. Thomas a couple of years ago, was he? What association did he come from?

Thats why you play the game. It is a team sport, though like baseball, one player like a pitcher or a goalie can totally dominate an entire team. Not sure if there are any other team sports where one guy can make such a big difference in the out come.
Again, congrats and good luck!

equal to any celly that a goal scorer pulls off..i was sitting right at the top where he did a simple shhhhhhhhhhh with a finger over the mouth is not classless and embarrassing, after that performance i give the kid props. I was sitting right by STA student section and it was unbelievable what they were yelling at that kid, now thats classless and embarrassing. .
A friend of mine from Mahtomedi believes the reason wolhers has played so good in the last two section finals is because of all the STA kids yelling at him. He suggested they say nothing and then he would play like he normally does. I think he might be onto something.

Clearly STA doesnt belong in Class AA. That is pretty pathetic. Lets compare them to the ever hated Hill-Murray Pioneers. They both are private schools with a wide range of kids to draw from. HM has about 800 students in grades 9-12, with about 400 being boys. STA has 1000 kids in grades 9-12, ALL of which are boys. That means they more than double the boys in HM and they still play in the jv class. I hate HM and STA, but at least the Pioneers are a classy team with a classy coach and opt to play with the big boys. STA kids are classless, the spitting on of the Maht players dosnt surprise me. Not to mention they cant even beat an average Mahtomedi team in the playoffs.
Congrats to the Zephs. Hope they win it all to show that the CSC is a little tougher than most people think.

Are we really talking enrollment the week before state?
Hill Murray has 861 students, one would assume about half are male, so give or take 430 males.
St Thomas has 541 students in grades 9-12, which the MSHSL doubles to get 1082, which is used for classes.
One thing I think could help is classifying each gender differently, but I doubt that'll ever happen.
Just an fyi, St Thomas is the 16th largest Class A school with their enrollment doubled. Assuming Mahtomedi is half males, they have 14 more boys than St Thomas.

I love the moronic hypocrisy on this board haha. I went to STA for two years before transferring to Cretin so I know whats its like to be for and against them.
When STA wins and go's to state, they are ridiculed for going to the JV tournament. But when Mahtomedi wins, they are congratulated for going to the "Big Dance". Jesus grow up.
STA wins. people moan and complain they should be in AA. They lose and people proclaim "that's why there in single A". Its either one or the other.
I don't want to hear any talking about STA students ridiculing other players or fans, because STA students and players have to put up with more crap than anyone when going to games. Try wearing that uniform and walking around st paul and the Xcel before you make comments, I still got mine at home, you can borrow it if you wanna be a big talker.

No one cares about what you "want to hear" your the one who chose to go to STA and wear the gay uniforms, your the one who chose to go to the school that is "expected" to win and when you dont, the opposing team is given congratulations, when you do people complain because your supposed to have the best team out there and everyone is sick of that, it wouldnt happen if you went to a public school and there was actual competion based on where people lived, you brought this onto yourself, and then you bitch about how people whine and complain. Looks like the st thomas boys wont have to worry about being ridiculed at the excel for wearin their little onesies this year. When you choose to pay for a "better schooling experience" expect to ridiculed, other people want what you have, if they cant get it then why would they want to support you, i know im against you. So suck it up mr.private learning, im glad the zephs beat STA, and no matter what you have to say about the game, i wonder which team is gonna be watching from the stands? Go Zephs
