Play-in game
Cloquet over Princeton
Quarter Finals
Elk River over Cloquet (I will be pulling for the Jacks here)
Grand Rapids over Forest Lake (Should be a great game. Looking at Grand Rapids record, I would say a 1 goal game is in order)
Andover over St. Francis (Benik story will come to an end in what could be a shut out win for Andover)
East over Cambridge (Might be closer than people would think. I see a nail bitter)
Semi Finals
Grand Rapids over Elk River (The scrappy Thunderhawks will return to the Finals after a dissapointing finish to last years season.)
East over Andover (East is a better team all around)
Finals
East over Rapids (The magic will run out for Rapids. East will represent the section well)

Hey Lee or karl, who is the first metro to get bounced out of 7AA when Denfeld/Central combine to move to 7AA in 2010-2011? Thanks.

Why is the section finals in Duluth. This is a metro section and should be played in the metro area.

Maybe when a metro team advances to state from 7AA they'll reconsider.

Then it should be in the metro next year.

It will not be a "metro" section next year so not much to discuss here.

I feel like we are going to see some upsets this year. Probably will be the most competitive section in the state. Usually in the first round games you will see alot of 10-15 to 0 games but I really do not see a game that will be more then a 5 goal difference.
I can see Princeton beating Cloquet. This may not look like a huge upset seeding wise, but it would be with the way Cloquet is playing lately. Princeton actually isnt that bad of a team this year. However, I can't see Princeton Elk River, but I could see Cloquet beating them once if they played them five times.
East beat Cambridge 5-0 earlier this year. The 5th goal was scored pretty late in the game and even though Cambridge only had 13 shots they still had about 3 really good scoring chances. Those go in you never know. Obviously East will outshoot them by about 30 but Cambridge's goalie could get hot.
The Andover vs St. Francis game. I think that Andover will win the section, but I really wouldnt look past this game. I actually see them matching up pretty well. Benik can obviously score and if he gets a couple bounces you never know. Andover will obviously outshoot them heavily, but Andy has seen that his whole high school career and is actually a pretty damn good goalie. St. Francis has nothing to prove and there has been alot of pressure put on this years senior class for Andover.
Forest Lake and Grand Rapids. I can really see this one going either way. Very evenly matched up teams.

That'd be my guess too, though there's an off chance it'll be Elk River.
There is no realignment after this year, though. So that would mean the shift wouldn't come until 2011-2012, right?

That makes sense so Denfeld(Central) in as the 10th team with no realignment until the following year.
My Super Saturday Final 4 prediction:
Elk River - Grand Rapids
East - Andover

My guess is they will "metro-ize both sections 7AA & 8AA and turn 'em both into 10 team sections.
Look for Elk River and Andover to move to 8AA along with Anoka for a 10 team section.
Becker-Big Lake and Monticello will move to 7AA (to beef up the section a little bit) along with the East JV...err, I mean Denfeld/Central...to bring the section to 10 teams

I think Becker is combining w/ Princeton next year so they will be 7AA.

The SUPER SATURDAY PREDICTION makes sense but Andover will have recover from the
BEATING it took from BLAINE . Watching Saturdays game Andover has 1 player only maybe a second. After that nothing . They will have to start out fast and put the puck in the net against St. Francis. prediction DE - ER EAST winning section 7AA

How would that be a bad thing for Princeton? At least 10 players from Becker have gone to Princeton over the last 10 years. I can name 5 off the top of my head that graduated in 2006. Will actually help them out a little. Not a ton, but take Beckers top line and put them at third line and they would get much more depth. Not saying that they wont have any players playing on a higher line, but just an example.
