I think this whole thing is much ado about nothing. A group of kids used some poor judgement and unfortunately some got hurt (referring to frostbite, not the suspension). No crimes were committed. Kids just picked a bad day to maintain a silly tradition. The Bears will be fine & still pick them to contend for a section title.

Its hard to believe that the kids are getting suspended over running barefoot in snow which leads one suspect that there was more to than that.

There is a long list of reasons why Sager should've made departure YEARS ago and The Hammer is as good =D> of candidate as any for the program. Last year Lex at H-M turned in his own players which resulted in game suspensions. I don't like the guy but his actions sent a message to the players. Yes the Hill guys 'crime' was worse than being alledgely barefoot outside but none the less I'm sure the players would never consider any form of hazing. On the other hand Sager's behavior and decisions are irratic and damaging on and off the ice for years. He's behavior drives talent out of WB to other schools or whats WORSE is he's in a power trip to crush innocent kids. Sager combined with the mentality up there has held the program back. Again, sorry but its the truth. :(
1. I know these guys, everyone of them. All that happened was running barefoot in the snow, and that's all that ever happens.

2. Are you saying Hill-Murray doesn't have an initiation? I know for a fact they make their new players eat goldfish...

As for tonight, JV stepped up and that's all you can ask for. Tonight on five eyewitness news they stated that this event sent "two players to the hospital." That's a complete lie, not a single fact to back that up based solely on the fact that NOW ONE WENT TO THE HOSPITAL.

I couldn't agree more. I was going to stay out of this highly opinionated subject, but the truth is that the ultimate leader on the team is the coach. If the players that fall under that leadership stray from the ethical rules set forth, the first leader in line must also accept responcibility. Even if The coach does not get fired or resign, he should also serve the same punishment. At a minimun, Sager should take the two weeks off also.

Coach Lechner gained way more respect with me when he decided to enforse team rules, regardless of the concequences his team may end up paying in the win loss collumn.

Although the players here in this incedent may be hurt by this suspention, I feel more sorry for the fans on this sight and the fans that show up night in and night out in support of the White Bear program.

I have really gotten up to see the Woodbury White Bear games for last few years. they have become quality opponents and great rivals. I would love nothing more as a competitor to see White Bear get a new, quality, discipline instilling coach.

As for tonights game, I chose not to go watch. In this game, I hope Woodbury completely shells White Bear as they should, with the temporary loss of the talent.

Although this incedent was completely stupid and 100 % avoidable, Kids will be kids. with this being said, i honestly wish the best of luck to the boys on White Bears team and the White Bear hockey community in getting past this and creating a high quality and confident team again. I just hope that it is not with the same coaching staff. You are much better than this, and i hope the good change comes soon for you guy"s.

I spoke with some friends on the team, and other than the fact they couldn't walk for a few hours and that they were a little ticked... They weren't extremely mad or anything.

True statement about hill. But their whole school doesn't let info like that leek. And they don't leave obvious evidence.. tracks in the snow for instance...

As for the hospital.. I heard otherwise. But I only know of one, and it was just to check out his feet. But he was the worst one, and he's doing better now.

The whole thing is just ridiculous. Wake me up in two weeks when they're back to normal.

I just spoke with he player who you're talking about, he took a trip to the doctor, not the hospital. So when 5 eyewitness changed it to "Medical attention" later in the piece, that was accurate.

I don't know... When you hear "sent to the hospital" it evokes thoughts of ambulances and overnights. While going to the doctor makes me think of getting something checked out.

Although, I could just be getting defensive and touchy about it. The last thing I want is to have the school, that I'm so proud of, be given a bad name.

So perhaps you're right Rink.

Yeah well I first heard it from some of the boys as going to the ER... which after talking to the player in question, thats absolutely not the case. So, at this point... I'm not even sure some of his teammates know what happened. Either way, it is unfortunate, and should not have occurred, but as mentioned earlier "boys will be boys"

Also, I am a proud white bear native. And as a friend to many of the players, I want nothing more than to see them succeed and have fun. While it was a horrible decision for the veterans to make... I hope they can overcome it (maybe w/o a particular coach) and move on. And knock on wood.. beat the pioneers?
