A bit of a ho-hum Tuesday considering the number of cancellations, and late (or non-) reporting games. Top frosh point-makers for today:
Ryan Leo with 2 goals in Minnehaha's 10-1 win over Meadow Crk Christian
Connor Chambers with 2 goals in Northern Lakes 10-1 win over Walker
Providence downing Prairie Centre 5-3 with:
Ryan Tapani (Prov) 1 goal
Jake Braun (Prov) 2 assists, and
Nate Mettenburg (Prairie) 2 goals
Finally, Austin Bjorge had 1 goal and 1 assist in Little Falls' 6-3 loss to Fergus Falls. He leads Little Falls in scoring with 3 points in 4 games. A big difference one year makes!!

Although they didn't register any points, it was fun to watch all the freshmen getting a lot of ice time during the BSM and HM game last night. Both Besse and Lavalle look like future stars.

After watching this game I don't think any of the freshmen really stood out on either team. Lavalle ok, didn't do that much. Besse, not much effort, turnovers, limited defense. The rest didn't get much ice time.

Disagree. Labosky played a regular shift on defense during the game and got quite a bit of ice time at center during the OT. Moore, not as much. Both of them looked a little overmatched at times, though.
I thought both Lavalle and Besse looked pretty good. You say Besse didn't exhibit much effort, but his backcheck at the end of OT may have saved the game for BSM. I thought he looked pretty good most of the game. We need to remember that these kids are still freshmen and can't be expected to carry the load just yet,....although Besse has certainly produced offensively for the Red Knights.

With 4 goals in his first two varsity games, that might be an understatement!
Men go through growth spurts at different ages, which is usually between the ages of 11 and 15. Thus, some freshmen are MEN, and some still growing boys. Christian Horn and Travis Boyd certainly were influential as freshmen last season, and I suspect that we will see a few emerge this season as well.

Hunter Miska is a stud freshmen goalie at North Branch. Was probably the best goalie in District 10 last year

And adding, the young Northern Lakes freshman noted above is the son of the great former North Star defensemen of the same last name. Whom of which happens to be the coach of said Northen Lakes.
Congrats to both, and good to see a great former pro player staying in minnesota and giving back to the game.

You're supposed to have a shutout against Spooner. Freshman or not. He may be good but don't use that as a measuring stick.
