Ben was INEFFECTIVE today. He didn't do anything to help Little Falls. Congrats to him on a great season though.

Congratulations. I know you've been waiting all year to make that post. I bet you feel all warm and fuzzy inside now.Gopher Blog wrote:Bingo. He was a total and complete NON-factor in his team's biggest game of the year. Put him in the metro and he becomes just another above average senior forward with 50 points or so.masterB wrote:forget Edina. after seeing the Breck-LF's game, i'm starting to think if he'd played for any respectable team in the metro area he wouldn't have gotten half the career pts he did.
If that was "Mr. Hockey' out there, then they ought to put that award away for good. No way is that guy on the level of Nick Leddy. Heck, I don't think he is on the level of some of the other metro candidates.
Gopher Blog wrote:If "bashing" is pointing out that he was a total non-factor in the biggest game of the year, so be it. I call it fact. I also think it is clear that if he cannot do more than a meaningless assist against a decent Twin Cities opponent, he certainly wouldn't be near the points he has. Probably not even half the points he ended up with.
It wouldn't matter where he went to college. Spehar was a similar overhyped guy. Although at least he won state title and had to play against many good teams to achieve his numbers.
I took great enjoyment in watching Couture lose big since he seems to have no problems running it up on other teams. I don't feel one ounce of sympathy for him or his team given that fact. They got totally whipped today and I couldn't be more happy given how they (and their fans) didn't seem to have any issues running up the score (all for the sake of stats) against weaker teams throughout the year. Justice was served today.
A rematch of the Dec. 9th meeting in which Mr. Hockey had 3g,2a in a 5-4 Small Falls victory in O.T.bender0905 wrote:There's no doubt about it putting up 100+ pts in one season for four seasons against any schedule is tough to do..it takes a lot of skill to complete a task like that. Yes, Hanowski played like crap and completely disappeared in the game against Breck. But to say that he wouldn't even be first line on Edina is just stupid. Everyone has bad games from time to time. Yes, anybody who is logical knows that he wouldn't have had anywhere near the amount of points he had for his career if he played for a metro area team. That doesn't mean that he's not a great player and one of the best in the state, because he is. You could pick one game (or several for that matter) of anybody's career and show that they were overrated. He drastically under-performed yesterday, and it is a shame, but he is still one of the best players in the state.masterB wrote:he plays for Edina, i'm not sure he would've been 1st line.
He is a very good player. Certainly, he is not best in state. I will give him top ten.number56 wrote:Yes, Hanowski played like crap and completely disappeared in the game against Breck. i don't think so. have you seen Edina play this year? minus Budish's injury, alongside Lee, Everson and several other players, I don't see how Hanowski squeezes onto the first line. I do think Ben is a good player, however, the only concerning thing about him is they have really not played anyone this year. after Breck the next toughest opponent would be SCC, and i'm not really sold on them either.number56 wrote:Yes, Hanowski played like crap and completely disappeared in the game against Breck. Sioux fans are never neutral when it comes to anything a Gopher follower has to say. Next...Sioux4Ever wrote:this is for gopher blog. i am a neutral fan who loves to watch high school hockey.
Oh... is Stitch Lips your real name? If so, your parents must not have liked you very much.Stitch Lips wrote:He needs to hide behind a pseudonym.
Nicely said (fun year for a lot of those kids huh) 8-1 on the power play Ben get your line on the ice?????WOW. Is that how Johnny Pohl did it? Ben is an EXCELLENT player at the high school level but i'll see how he does at SCSU as I said in a post long ago. Hey, it was a good run for Little Falls while it lasted.Gopher Blog wrote:Oh... is Stitch Lips your real name? I'd say anything you wish to Couture's face. I think he is a jerk. He was so busy padding stats for his boy all season long that he seemed to lose sight of the fact that there are more important things. I saw a number of teams this year refuse to put their top line out in the 3rd period of games (or not play their top guys on the PP) because the game was already well at hand. They were more interested in giving other players a chance. It wasn't about padding stats against overmatched competition. He could learn some lessons from some of his more classy coaching brethren. He deserved to lose after the lack of respect he seemed to show for other teams.
As far as not respecting outstate hockey, it is quite the opposite. My family background is Iron Range. But that doesn't stop me from seeing reality on the quality of play.
Ben Hanowski is a GREAT player, bottom line, end of story.bender0905 wrote:There's no doubt about it putting up 100+ pts in one season for four seasons against any schedule is tough to do..it takes a lot of skill to complete a task like that. Nothing better than an IRON RANGE boy who makes his way down to the big city and doesn't realize that his head is as far up his butt as anybody. Can you seriously sleep well at night knowing that you are slamming on a kid who will be forever in the same conversation as Mariucci, Spehar, and Pohl? You probably can knowing he isn't wearing maroon and gold. I totally agree, that if he was a gopher, you would be on the opposite side of this argument. Are there any gopher recruits in the dance today????Gopher Blog wrote:Oh... is Stitch Lips your real name? I am more slamming on his coach than anything. I am glad they got their doors blown off yesterday.Jbone wrote:Can you seriously sleep well at night knowing that you are slamming on a kid who will be forever in the same conversation as Mariucci, Spehar, and Pohl?
Nick Leddy. Are there any gopher recruits in the dance today????
What a clown Blog is. His lack of hockey intelligence shows with every post. Hanowski is a talented player who will do fine @ the next level. Biggest adjustment he will have to make is how to come to terms with the fact that he will merely be a cog in the machine as opposed to the machine. He comes back to play his Senior season as opposed to taking the Jrs route and deserved all the playing time he could get. Look back over 5 years ago and you'll see the Flyers and Couture were on the opposite side of some lopsided games, that's the way it goes in sports. Go back to the Range, Blog - I'm sure they would love to have you.Gopher Blog wrote:Oh... is Stitch Lips your real name?
