I'm an observer without a horse in this year's race so I feel I am unbiased:
I watched Roseau and Edina play 2 games before the tournament, Minnetonka 1 game, never saw Hill or BSM play before the tournament. All of these teams, as previously stated in this thread are solid teams. Hill got GREAT goaltending and played at the top of their game when it mattered most. That's all you can ask of a team in a 3 game tournament.
Give them the trophy....they earned it.

As a city guy I'm embarrassed at the disrespect we send to the northern teams. Are we impressed that a team combined from a bunch of bad programs and Wisconsin beat a town of 2,700? And for the Roseau purists you have nothing to say... your tradition says it all.
And for the people on here saying Roseau is weak...do you watch to much girls hockey?? Damn your embarrassing. Phillipi might have something if he played more than 2 good games. The Lee kid has been doing this since Peewees but most wouldn't know that.
It is no wonder they call us citiots? or is it cidiots?

If Roseau was overated then so was Edina. Roseau lost to Hill by a score of 4-1 if you take away what happened with the Goalie pulled. Edina lost 3-0. You cant make one claim without makeing the other. The game against BSM dont prove anything when Roseau played alot of their seniors and gave them plenty of ice time. Warroad did the same thing last season in the 3rd place game and got hammered by a team that wasnt better then them. You need to stop think then maybe you will see Roseau wasnt anymore overated then the mighty Edina team!

the difference was edina actually played pretty evenly with hill, besides the goal tending area, 2 of hills 3 goals were weak and mostly coshettas fault (especially 2nd goal), and edina had MANY scoring chances but puck bounced hills way, When Roseau played hill, it was barely a game, roseau have very few good scoring chances. So no edina is not overated, and YES roseau is overated and got owned. too bad they didnt play woodbury first round because they probaly would of lost haha

all i know is when roseau had to play 3 top 10 metro teams in a row they didn't have the depth to compete in all 3 games and that showed by losing 6-2 and 5-1 to in my opinion the top 2 teams in state if not then two of the top three

BSM gave some of their players who dont get much ice time the same thing. one got a goal who is a sophomore and thats the thing with roseau anyway. after ness and #7 (cant think of his name right now) they dont have the depth to compete

Where do the players for the city teams sleep during the state tourney? Do they have to sleep in the unfamiliar surroundings of a hotel, or do they get to sleep in their own beds? Just wondering.

Considering we found the twine three times against Flip while it was "barely a game" either Flip really stinks, Edina's horrible, or you're talking out of your arse. I know which I'm leaning towards.

Roseau only beat Jefferson 4-3 and scored with 0.2 seconds left
Jefferson wasnt even a top 20 team this year

And Hill only beat Moorhead 4-3 scoring late yet they were definitely the best team at the tourney. What's your point?

There are no points left to be made. Roseau won against an above average city team but lost big to 2 elite city teams. There's always "next year" and no doubt Roseau will be back.
Us cidiots are enjoying the moment (not unlike last year when the flannels claimed the throne) hence the title of this thread.

Everyone in the tournament deserves to be there reguardless of record. Hill put on an outstanding show last night and they continue to tonight. Edina has the history to prove that they belong year in and year out. Blaine played great to get to the tournament. B\STM is building an incredible history in the way they have played the last 10 years. Roseau has a history and although they had an average schedule at best, they played Blaine tough and beat Bloomington Jefferson this year. I am from near the Metro originally and then moved to near Roseau. Roseau's entire enrollment is much, much smaller than just one regular class size of the other Class AA schools. That is the reason I laugh as many of the people from the metro and southern Minnesota(where I am from) have some sort of fear or some other indifference to why a small public school from the north where many of the kids come from next to nothing and the kids can't be recruited to a private school from the north is a threat to them. That the talant pool is much much smaller and all I see in the forum is that Roseau is weak on one side and that they are gods on the other. I just think that Roseau has a great program and should feel fortunate that they do have a great program for such a small school to compete with the bigger programs throughout the state. And the rest of the state should be really proud of the state we live in that we have a sport that we dominate any other state in all aspects. From the excitement of playing to the thrill of watching.
Best post on this thread by far.

Last year was all about early exits in quarters and sections for top programs.
Roseau then filled a vacuum.
If Roseau wants respect, then try to learn from Edina's example on showing class... win or lose.

Seeing Moorhead was below #20 until the end of the season I find this fascinating

I think a lot of us have nothing against Roseau, i think that we just get sick of people from roseau thinking they are amazing when they havent played anyone who was a top 15 team in state, and when they did they lost, and it showed that they were probably not the best team but i still believe they were a top 10 for sure

Yeah cuz Jefferson beat em 4-1 in Moorhead's building. Jefferson is a better team than Moorhead and Jefferson is a solid top 15 team. Also, Roseau has pretty good team, they won state last yearwitht eh same club and Hill just seemed to have the best team at the right time of year and props to them for winning it.
If all you "cidiots" want Roseau to play a tougher schedule man up and go play em for once, drive up there play em or pay for them to come play you. Also, Roseau is a phenominal program and you should be ashamed for bashing them, 410 kids cmpared to Edina's 2200-plus, or Hill's scholarship players from around the metro and possibly Wisconsin? Come on, just give em a little respect. As for the Benilde game, it seemed BSM cared more about the game and Roseau just played stupid in the 3rd as BSM was almost on the PP the whole last period.

When exactly did this happen? Before or after the "you suck" chants? Far as I know no one from Roseau starts these threads. Roseau member did start the congratulations Hill thread.

i have nothing against roseau, i am just sick of them being considered one of the best teams of all time when they didnt play anyone. and actually my former team did go and play them this year and we lost 4-3. but we were not as good as we will be or as we usually are

Hill has players from around the metro and some from wisconsin, but that's representative of Hill's student body. I know most of the hockey players and I can't think of any players that have any scholarships, none of them need any. Like most people at Hill they have a lot of money and don't mind dropping 10 grand/year on tuition.
