Goldy....what highschool did you go to? you sure seem to think highly of apollo for not accomplishing much since 1984......if you think a section runner up qualifies you asd a dynasty....well then i am just at a loss for words....cathedral plays apollo on dec. 11th....cant wait to chat with you on dec. 12th!

SCSU I know you know who both people are but for the sake of everyone who doesn't take this board as a big joke I will fill them in.
Logan Birr is a Senior pitcher for St. Cloud Apollo who should be pitching D-1 next year. Anyone who has seen him pitch knows he's legit. With a little fine tuning he could turn into a very good pitcher at the college level.
Zack Marchand is number 26 on Apollo's hockey team. He is a third line forward.
So Goldy when did Saint Cloud State go D-1 in baseball?
some one has way too much time on his hands......
They haven't. Sorry, I completely forgot that he committed there.

George, CHS can play the crosstown teams if they can beat Rogers, which I think will be a close game. And who cares about Logan Birr and his future in baseball? This is a hockey forum.

I went to Apollo and how much of a dynasty they were or weren't has already been discussed. I won't be in town on the 12th but when I come home on the 20th I would love to talk with you about how Apollo beat Cathedral.

Apollo has got the best line, best goalie, a top defender in Brent butkowski, and the best team in St. Cloud hands down.

I'd like to say Tech holds 2nd in St. cloud but they lost 2 of late so i would have to say Cathedrals got 2 spot in St. Cloud.

I wouldn't say that they are the best "hands down" but I do agree with everything that you said.

Brent Butkowski is not a top defender. He's a slightly above average defenseman maybe a good defenseman. Not a top defenseman. He'd be the fourth, maybe fifth, defenseman on Cathedral.
That best line comment is also debateable. They may very well have the best line, but it's really close with the line of Lommel, Rindelaub, and Palusky.
The more and more I read and talk about it. The more and more I feel that Tech shouldn't even be brought in to the conversation. But, only time will tell who the best in the city is.

Joe Nessler
Jon Rowe
TJ Poganski
Nate Schmidt...
I'd actually put Poganski and Rowe both on the same level as Butkowski...

Brent is in the penalty box alot, but for some reason i think his # is cursed or the refs talk about him before the game, watching the game tonight he had his first hit, it was a nice one hands were down usually they arnt but this time they were.. gets called for roughing, then hits another kid later that peroid, they both fall down brent stands up and the river lakes player hugs his leg and pulls him down... both go RL: holding A: roughing
hes a goood player but its just the penalty thing

Blue and Gold:
Oh yeah, Voss got a Cathedral team to state and what happened? They got totally worked. And what has Johnson proven so far? They couldn't get there last year with some really good talent and harder workers than they have this year. I don't happen to believe it is all Johnson's fault, nor Hommerdings at Tech. Last time I looked, coaches don't play the game.
I've never coached HS, but would wager you never have, either, though you think you could. It's easy to have never lost a game sitting in the bleachers. Come to think of it, I don't think you've ever played at a competitive level.
You people in the blue and gold need to worry about your own house. Let's get real on Tech vs. Cathederal getting to state, anyway. Tech plays in the same section as Roseau and Moorhead, both of which could handle any team that comes out of Cathedral's section, including the old section.
Tech is going to be the strongest team in St. Cloud for a number of years. Pure numbers are in their favor, like it or not.

The first penalty was an elbow. I thought it was a good call by the officials. Apollo coaches agree. His elbow made contact with the kids head, i had a great view.
The second penalty was debatable at best. No reason Brent should have ended up in the box. Much like his interference penalty against Becker. He plays hard all the time and is an agressive player. Sometimes does some dumb stuff but there is never any malicious intent. I think he's a good player, but not quite at the level of Joe Nessler, IMO.

How have the Eagles been playing? You can't say they played that well tonight. I thought they looked terrible. They've beaten two of the worst teams in the state. They were getting bottled up in their own end a lot in that first period when they played without Theis and Hock played D. I just don't think they have that much depth and that will be what hurts them.

George, they had 5 players sitting out in the first period. They definately didn't look so hot, but they did get better as the game wore on.

Apollo had 2 of there best players out tonight. A 8-0 vs becker than a 7-2 victory over river lakes still put them undefeated! How can you say they're terrible?

That's right. But that River Lakes team got manhandled by PRAIRIE CENTRE. They were not a good team and Apollo's 2nd and 3rd liners should have been putting up points in the first.

Apollo didn't have two of their best players out tonight. That's a load of bull. And I didn't say they were terrible. I said they looked terrible tonight (early on). They lack depth. That's obvious by the fact that either Hockemeyer, Theis, or Christen have figured in on 10 of their 15 goals.

If i recall putting up 15 goals in the first two games and giving up to goal is pretty good. But what do i know only coaching for 8 years and watching hockey sense i've been 9?
