Gutsch has been a tough player all the way through his career, but he hasnt played with injuries... so if his shoulder is hurtin i dont know how his physical play will be... he is the best player on the team so hopefully he can play with no restraints... i'm takein DM 2-1 in a very tough physical game, should be a fun one to watch

im sure gutsch will be back for the game but mausolf is a different story. he has a few days to get ready for the game but if not im sure there will be nothing holding him back from the state tourny.

well mausolf is a key player for dm a top line foward... so if he cant play that will screw up the lines for dm...

I bet if Mausolf doesn't play Bill Hurley will be put in for him on first line and they will keep second and third lines the same.

Although if it were, it should be at the higher seed. This being DM. So, anyway that you look at it, it should be up north. The game will be fair and it should be a physical, hard fought battle. Look to DM to have the edge in this one. The have their eyes on the 3. . .2 . ..1 finish at the X. And to revenging the earlier loss. From previous experience, DM does not mess around in the playoffs. Look for Flaherty to have his squad ready to go!

Mausolf was out almost three weeks after the LOW game/injury. First, thing should be his safety. If he can not go, he will be missed. Speed is his biggest asset. As for Hurley, he played some second, third and fourth line when Mausolf was gone before.

I got word today that gutsch is able to come back and play at his own risk and that he might have to go in for surgery at the end of the year. Very physical game indeed and marshall's main weakness is truly in the physical games. Keeping in mind still how serious marshall becomes during playoffs, they dont give up many shots and they play great offense im going to say that marshall takes this one by a score of DM - 4 and SCC -2

Will this be like any other game on thursay ( cancelled) if it snows?? or will it be a go?

and if it is cancelled, when is the make-up date?

With more than a foot possible by thursday night, i wouldn't be surprised if they did cancel the game.

well if POSTPONED (not cancelled) the game would have to be friday night, more than likely same time (7:30)... i say this because the seedings for the state tournaments come out saturday morning..

The Duluth area is no longer merely facing a winter storm.

The National Weather Service issued a blizzard warning for the area this morning, which takes effect at 6 p.m. today and lasts until 6 p.m. Friday.

“This storm will likely paralyze travel due to heavy snow and blowing snow…as well as blizzard conditions near Lake Superior,” according to a National Weather Service report. “A storm of this magnitude has the potential to cause very dangerous or impossible driving conditions.”

Snow, with gusting east winds, will begin this evening. Four to eight inches of snow will likely fall overnight.

After the first bout of snow this evening, snowfall will let up for spell but become heavy again Thursday and into Friday. The worst conditions will occur Thursday afternoon through Friday morning, with widespread white-out conditions.

Winds will be 30 mph by Thursday morning, strengthening to 40 mph with higher gusts by evening and overnight.

Total snowfall accumulations are forecast to range from 18 to 24 inches, with up to 30 inches falling on the higher terrain near Lake Superior.

Wow. That's a lot. Why couldn't that have happened Sunday, give the kids a snow day/rest day and have a white March since we didn't have a white Christmas? Damn Mother Nature

You would have a much better foot to stand on if SCC was first seed, which last time I checked, they are not. Therefore, if you are going to choose a home rink, then it should be MARS. However, I don't think that this is the best option. Not only because of the snow! I think that everyone can agree that neither the MAC or MARS are great alternatives. In case you haven't been watching the weather reports, this storm is supposed to hit nearly the entire state of MN, including St. Cloud and the Twin Cities metro. The weather channel puts the chance of snow at 100% on Thursday and 90% on Friday. So, there isn't a "magical" bubble around the St. Cloud area protecting it and the MAC from snow. The snow will have to be dealt with in an "as needed" basis. I can remember playoff games rescheduled due to weather way back when I was in high school. I am pretty sure that everyone survived! Let's just let the boys play and decide the game. . . Once again, this game will be hard fought between these 2 teams. Regardless of when or where the game is played. It doesn't really matter what all of us as fans think or say. It comes down to the boys on the teams. Though my heart is and will always be with the Toppers, I wish all players good luck.

Again, I think you missed his sarcasm. I dont think that he was saying the game should not be played at the MAC - you just wasted a lot of time justifying against that statement!

The game could be played on the Ritschie rink at the MAC (that's the second rink) since technically it isn't SCC's home rink (that would be the Torrey rink at the MAC), and like Cloquet, it would be a partial-neutral rink.

I don't think he should risk it.

I think if it's really dislocated, he probably SHOULDN'T play. His personality from what I've gathered is that he probably will play. After all, it is his senior year. I don't know how effective a person could be with a dislocated shoulder, but I guess we'll see.

I don't want to be watching if he handles the puck along the boards or in the corner as this is going to be a physical game.
