wow. what an experience. i really hope AL gets to go to state next year, because the whole week was absolutely amazing. The Xcel Center is incredible; the locker rooms are huge and the atmosphere (though the arena was far from full) was....
when i stepped on the ice, i was speechless. that's all i can say. it's something every high school player should be able to experience. the austin fans really showed up on wednesday to support us. even though we lost, it was the experience of a lifetime.
we weren't the best team there. but we played our hearts out. wednesday was not our night. especially the first line. it just wasn't clicking. and anyone who's played hockey knows how that feels. it's very frustrating. on another night, we could have beat Farmington. and we were very close to beating Breck. the breakout we used at the tournament was the same one we used all season. it worked a few times. i was one of the left wings up high, and i wanted to go down and help, believe me, but i stuck to my assignment. it was a frustrating night on both ends for us. we couldn't seem to get shots and we couldn't get control in our own zone.
if gopher9 can't post anything positive, they should stick their very upturned nose somewhere else (maybe somewhere the sun don't shine, since they seem so stuck on themselves anyway). just because we don't have a big talent pool to pick and choose from doesn't give you a right to insult us or the way we play the game. at least we MADE it to the state tournament. if you were happy to leave us alone, then why didn't you? oh yeah, you just like to make yourself feel superior by knocking us "lowly southern" teams...
as for me and my team, we're proud just to be a part of girls hockey. we were proud to play against the best in the state. it was a lot of fun, even if it was disappointing at times. good luck to section 1A next year.

Wow, nothing like not supporting the rest of Section 1 or your previous teammates. I wonder how #12,#7, #2,#3,#6,#11,#16,#17#18,#27,#30 from Austin feel about you not wanting them to repeat.
Better yet, the girls of Faribault that supported you at Section championship and state. I should remind you where, AL sat at section championship and state. Hint it was as far away from you as possible and maybe you don't realize they cheered for the other team.
The target is on AL, they are the favorite, but really, don't forget your roots.

I can't speak to where Faribo or AL sat during the Section Final or at State because I wan't there, but you're right about supporting the home team first. Where did the Faribo girls sit during the Austin vs. AL game?
You have AL as the favorite???? AL's a top 3 team in the Section at this point. I'm going with West, Faribo and then AL.

At this time, I will not venture a guess as to next seasons rankings...
I will wait until next November...

Did I read the box scores right? Taylor Jenkins broke some records up there.
Most asssists in a game 5, knocking out Darwitz and few others.
Tied most assists in a period 3.
Tied most points in a game 7.
Congrats.

How come Faber didn't show up for the presenting of the All-tournament Teams?

Congratulations to Austin for making it to the State Tournament. Not a bad showing, but the outcome could have been different had #15 not been such a selfish player. SHe needs to remember there is no I in TEAM.
Congratulations to #12 for breaking the state tournament assist record. That's what team work is all about!!

i don't think falcons can read.
it's something every high school player should be able to experience.
he got so excited at finding something wrong with my post that he momentarily didn't comprehend what he was reading. Or blacked out or something. that sentence about every high school player comes 4 sentences after the one about AL. don't get me wrong falcons, i'm still a packer fan to the core. all i'm saying is everyone should be able to experience playing in the state tournament. both AL and Faribault are esteemed opponents, best of of luck to ALL teams in Section 1A. go out there and get some respect for southern MN.
Also, thanks to anyone who showed up to the section final game. even the west fans

talk about putting fuel on the fire. it was really cool to see Faribault come out and support us, especially with those signs. we took pictures and everything.
tsmi9, Austin had to go home early because of the weather. they went about half speed the whole way; it took 3 hours

It's too bad. Would have loved to watch the championship.

You beat me to the punch...Congrats to all.
Why are there
0 Faribo players on that list???
There seems to be a glaring oversight...
Alli Miller 41g 19a
Ally Foley 26g 24a
Erin Kastner 22g 26a

Maybe the selection committee was all refs...we know how much FB likes refs...seriously, at least one of the FB ladies should be on the list.

I realize you are a child, and I do not want to get to intellectual with you, with what you meant, but what you really said. However; how special would the State Tournament be if everyone went? Peace, Love and happiness is a great idea, but it is not reality.

I do not put much hype in this list. Congrats to those that made it. However many good players were left out and many average players were put in it. It is a press poll. When the coaches poll comes out, there will be more legitimacy. However, when will any southern Minnesota players ever get any respect?

good point... it's something people should experience but what makes you special if everyone goes? nothing
(Those Faribault education systems again...

oh yeah, you're right, I AM a child, aren't I? that means i must know nothing, then, huh? shoot, i might as well just commit myself right now.
i think you might want to just go maybe defenestrate yourself. maybe.
seriously, i was just trying to be a good sport. i'm sorry if i set you off, or if you're bitter (do you want my section medal? i'll give it to you, what's your address?), or if you're just determined to hate me and my team. i'm sorry, but i was just trying to be a "good person," if there is such a thing. peace, love, and happiness can be a reality if we work at it, and if we really believe. but what do i know, right? i'm just a CHILD.
ok, i'm going to have my mommy read to me now, since i apparently can't do it myself.
p.s. i'm sorry to the other participants of this forum. it must be annoying...

I forgot to add this to the forum and this goes out to who ever said that a team cannot beat another team 3 times. I do not recall on that persons name but AUSTIN BEAT 2 TEAMS 3 TIMES! Who ever said it couldnt be done was wrong obviously.
Nice season Packers!

Hate to be the bearer of bad news but that was most likely the last "nice" season the Packers will be having for a while... unless Jenkins can carry the entire team on her back this year
and Swiss I don't doubt you'll have splinters to pick next summer yet again

Jenkins works hard and she will be the leader no doubt about that one. Wagner is a good forward too and you cant for get Swancutt she played a lot during sections and state she too is a really good hockey player.
And every team needs a BW i guess im coaches first pick. I dont care anymore. You get used to sitting after a while.

I've read on this board that she's supposed to be pretty good. I've seen
6 Austin vs. Albert Lea games in the past 2 years and I can honestly say I've never seen her on the ice for a shift. What gives?

During sections she was out about every other shift to give the other forwards a break.
And another thing to tigerpower what even makes you think swiss will be playing next year??

if you are weak enough of a person not to play a sport just because a bunch of senile old fools give you a hard time and because of your limited playing time...you're right, you don't belong on the team, if you quit a sport because of that motive you will go absolutely nowhere in life... just my two cents though
unless there is trouble in the gene pool we don't know about...

Obvious genes. Your dad is fairly normal, but we'll leave it at that. Swiss you can switch to the new thread now.
