Stillwater looked very strong. Once again, they will be very tough to beat this year. For those in the NW Metro, Cable Channel 12 will rebroadcast the game the next three nights.

Eden Prairie 3 Minnetonka 2

EP outshot Mtka 34-13 but took way too many penalties. Feste with a breakaway goal. Tonka hung tough and had some good chances. Ramsey scores on a rocket from the face off circle and Katie Kelly with battle goal with her and a defender ending up in the net. Lauren O'Laughlin with an outstanding 31 save effort.

Alot of doubt out there regarding Stillwater's legitamacy. Convincing win over Wayzata to start. Like a couple previous reply's noted goaltending wasn't the best on both ends of this game. Stillwater has to figure that one out; they have 3 strong tenders in the program, they just have to dial in on the one that can maintain that goalie MOJO. Next weeks game agianst Hill will allow a good look into the future as well. Many of these kids played on opposing 12A state champ and runner up programs the past few years.

Would really like you to answer to your statement on stillwaters ligitamacy? And dialing in to the MOJO I belive if you go back and look at the history of goaltending in stillwater the past few years Sobczek has had a good run since I belive correct me if wrong she started the team at 12? Guess I really don't understand your remarks??
New team new year 1st game jitters out of the way I thought they did awesome from the net out. Returning players and new gelled, passes were on it was fun to see them start out and have a fun on the ice (and bond as a team). The season only has no were to go but up.
I thaught both goalies made some big saves for their teams and the 1st goal on Sobczek well lets give credit where credit is due "Laurinaitis what a beautiful shot it was"!!! Shes alot of fun to watch! Great player.
Good luck to both teams!!

StillH20fan, sorry didn't mean to offend you! My whole (objective) point was that StillH20 proved they are the real deal with the convincing win. Nobody seems to be giving them the credit they deserve for what they accomplished last year. (papers, rankings, etc) They put it together when it counted. Fortunately, I was in the area and was able to stop by and catch the game and witness some better hockey in the area. As far as goalies they looked a little tenative. I believe Plumm was the horse the last couple of years at H20. No doubt Sobezak is a player, I also saw the girl (name?) wearing #1 play for Walser this summer and she can play too. Best to decide on the new horse early on. Yes I agree, it is refreshing to see kids have fun when playing, I too hope your H20 team has alot of it this season. Looking forward to White Bear.

Not offended, and no offense taken.
Stillwater (last years team) has never been given the credit they are due
for the title they won as a team. I don't think Plum persoanlly was the horse you speak of. Girls on the team (with Jones graduated) were able to step up and show the talent and skill they have as players not given the chance to during Jones's high school career. It takes a team to win a title not an individual player.
Thats why stillwater didn't make it in pervious years IMHO.
You can't rely on one player to do it all it just doesn't work. If that were true as you say then Nixon should of lead her team to a title every year! Shes awesome (nixon) but if you don't have it in front of you as a net minder it ain't goin to happen no matter how good you are! After a serious rocky start last year, stillwaters players relized I can do this and stepped up to the plate and gave it all. It was awesome hockey to watch.
Good luck to the girls this year, new team, new goals and a whole season ahead to make things happen............GO PONIES!!!
