Chuck when the Regionals Tournaments are set for all four (32 teams) Regions. Could you rank them overall even though some good team failed to make it? The Semi Finals Power Rankings. Nobody is outside looking in, they have made it to the porch and looking to dance.

It would also be interesting to see a double "AA" and a single "A" breakdown, as allot of kids head to high school? Kinda like who could be at the big show in two to three years for the respectable brackets.
Like that Hermantown loss to Duluth East for #1 seat. But one is 2A size school program and the other is 1A.

Who knows maybe there is a odd's maker in the group too?

Duluth East is a single A school based on their size.

They make an election to play in AA.
As does Cloquet (I believe - not sure of their co-op size).
Grand Rapids, Roseau, Bemidji and St Cloud Apollo in 7 & 8 played up this year.

Hey Chuck,
Buffalo is out. Think your missing a District 1 team?
Going thru the grid for Regions I just noticed that D2 #3 is in the South and 1 & 2 are in the East. Weird as my typing skills.

Buffalo

Both are pretty bad they should have a hard time even getting to the rinks for Regionals.

Seriously though "Do you read any of the other posts or rankings?" Both are ranked in the top 20 all year and have won some big games in districts. So to answer your question YES they are good and both could wind up in the State tournament.

East 1 GR 0. Maybe they should stay right where they are.

I think it is tough to change the rankings from here till the end. I would suspect teams that are probably top 5 or even 10 teams will lose games now. No one should be surprised by a 3 - 1 GR victory or a 1 - 0 Duluth East win, it is the playoffs, and everyone has a different attitude when the season is on the line. Now is not the time to be saying "oh we got screwed" or the Ref's *@#%ed us. That is the beauty of the playoffs. I encourage everyone to ENJOY the games coming up over the next few weeks. Appreciate a team that has no business against their opponents on paper, but is taking it to them for two periods now. That is fun, that is what hockey and more importantly playoffs are all about. Good luck to everyone out there, and when it's all said and done, the best teams will win because they'll have the trophy to prove, no amount of sour grapes can argue that.

Chuck, thank you for your service this season. You have done a great job. Like'em or hate'em your rankings have been honost. I don't think you had a hidden agenda, or an axe to grind with anyone. You put the teams that won up at the top and then adjusted accordingly. Thank you, it has been fun to follow.

Elliot?? Come on all north.... lets be real here. northern team doesn't lose except the finals with another nothern team!!!! I don't think that is what is going to happen, however I think Bemidji could beat the Trojans.

Elliot - Keep on dreaming. I may eat crow, but I don't think Bemidji will make it out of the first round.

I'm with Elliot on Bemidji winning the first round. After that, I think is too optimistic. I may be joining you for the crow feast, pucktime!

does fbo really deserve to be down at about 30? i mean they tied wbl and could have beat rochester if they could have stayed out of the box. i dont think your giving that team enough credit..

What is the most important postion in hockey, especially in tight games?
In play-off games?
Who can carry a team?
Who can win a game for a team?

The goalie?
Yes, the goalie.

Bemidji has two very good goalies.
They have some good D in front of them.
They have forwards that get back very well and focus on offense starting with good D zone coverage.
They have two coaches that preach good D.
They have parents that are proud of their kids for the number of blocked shots they have.

Solid defense gives you a chance to win.

I am being optimistic, but where is it written that the best teams are from big metro suburbs?
No where? Right, no where.

Bemidji has beat Moorhead twice and lost twice. Same to Roseau.
They went 2 and 1 with Grand Rapids. They have beat Brainerd.
And whether anyone wants to admit it, those four teams are four very good teams. Among the best in the state.
So doesn't that make Bemidji a top team?

Bemdiji may lose two and be done.
But then again........

Bemidji isnt a top 2 team they have one goalie that is probably one of the best in state and a few good players. I watched them a few times and most of the time they were in it because of their goalie. They are a good team but not top 2 in state

The question is not if Bemidij is one of the top two teams in the state.
The question is, "Can Bemidji win their next two games?"
Of course they can.
Burnsville vs AHA.......
Cretin vs Woodbury......
If your team is on the ice for the opening face-off, you have a chance to win.
Are they capable of beating any of the other seven teams at the state tournament?
That becomes an interesting question. Karl Gohring made how many saves against Dultuh East before his team finally scored the game winner?

As I briefly outlined, Bemidji plays good team D. Good D gives you a chance to win.

EP and Duluth East are the two top teams (probably). Centennial a very good team. But White Bear Lake, Wayzata, Roseau, and Rochester are not that good? Well, yes, I think they are. And someone could (should) come on this thread and make an argument as to why one of those teams ahs the ability to make it to the final game.

Good luck to all eight!
May they all play 'good hockey'.

Both Duluth East and Centennial are beatable....

We should know....
Elk River took Centennial into overtime in the district finials...
Elk River took DE into two overtimes in a game that could have gone either way....if it did then we won't even be discussing East...

Relax and enjoy the season, it is why all the kids play... oh yea....hockey is also a great teacher of lifes lessons....

Just an FYI.... Brainered and GR you sound like a bunch of sore losers...

In our case, I hope Duluth East takes it all, then we (Elk River) can then say we took the State Champs into overtime - twice.....
