Yes.

He threw 28 pitches and they took him out. Garza pitching.

No details but he must have reinfjured it. 0-0 in the 4th.

Most likely shut down for the season....

Now we can be like Cubs fans, "Next year", as far as Liriano goes

FWIW, they were talking on Garage Logic this afternoon and some speculation that his ulnar (sp?) nerve was wrecked. Tommy John surgery was being bandied about which would mean you'd see him again in 2007.

By the way, this has been an outstanding topic to follow. Not being a Twins fan myself, it's been fun and educational to read about the team from my National League oriented standpoint. :P

[edit] Oops, I meant 2008, not 2007.

Well, all I can say is, with, or, without Liriano...the Twins are IN!

I told all of you well over a month ago that the baseball Gods spoke to me and I shall now repeat it...

"THE TWINS ARE GOING TO THE PLAY-OFFS!!!

My only regret is that I won't see the very, very, VERY nasty stuff that Mr. Liriano has to offer this ball club. Cy and Cy Jr. would be able to take down the timber of ANY ball club on the planet.

On the lighter side, it's such a tight race, would it not be crazy if Detroit didn't get in?

Lee, thanks for the Info...

U get Garage Logic up in Duluth Lee? Good Luck!

I've heard the same thing about Tommy John. It has been shown that some players throw harder following the surgery, but it takes at least 1 year to start throwing again and up to 2 for them to return to form. Just sucks because he was such a budding young star and has to be without a year or two.

The Twins can not count on anything from Liriano in '07, they must treat him as if he has as much to do with their future as Irishmans Shanty. There is a certain NL club who has waited and counted on the fact that a fireballer and a can't miss 1st rounder will eventually get healthy, they haven't and maybe never will.

On the brighter side, Garza's 5+, 1 run, 8 hits, 5 K, 0 BB effort in the wake of Liriano's exit is outstanding. That's a nice job for anyone, let alone a kid who started the year in A ball.

Big 10 game road swing begins today. Boston will not be easy, Baltimore makes me itchy, and the Indians at the Jake has not been kind since it's opening.

Go Twins

When da kid went down on Aug 7 , the Twins were 21games over .500. They are now 25 games over.

They are still a good team with out him. But with him, they are among the best in the league.

Thats not garage logic Lee, that is the result of highly scientific research. Socrates would be impressed. You NL fans should stick with watching pitchers hit or something really exciting like that.

Big road trip indeed IS.

Twins need a 6-4 roady at worst...7-3 is more what i'd like to see. 3 out of four, 2 of 3, and 2 of 3...

Yep, certain shows carried down there in the Cities are also carried up here on Duluth stations. Garage Logic is carried on KDAL 610AM. Shows such as PA & Dubay are carried on WEBC 560AM.

Liriano is out.

Been there, done that.

The resiliency of this team has been truely remarkable. I expect no less now.

They are not afraid.

They will not go silently into the night.

They have Santana. Thats a "W"

Between Silva, Boof, Garza, and Guerrier they will play .500 ball.

Not all games will be pretty, but they have enough decent arms to get them to the bullpen. And the Boofin' title.

Go Twinks...

Neut has it

You are absolutely Boofin right Neut.

There is no better example than yesterday.

As I've said many times, it will be the inconsistent to sometimes nonexistent offense that will keep them out of the playoffs. They have enough arms.

There is no better example than yesterday.

Losing 1-0 at home this time of year is not an option.

Hit the ball.

Lets go Twins.

Pick up .5 tonight on the Sox and Tigers.

packerboy,

It was a day game following a big night win. I think the "pirhanna's" were out late swimming with Captain Morgan. Made a below average pitcher seem like Sandy boofin Koufax!

I have since been advised that Mauer wasnt in the lineup.

What in the Boof is that all about? He cant DH?

He can rest in Novemeber.

Lets keep the league leading hitter out of the lineup. Great.

There are only 17 games left. What are we resting him for?

Will he rest him in the playoffs? If they do well, thay can play 15 or so.

"Yah we're restin Joe for the first game of the ACLS. We don't want him tired for the World Series."

An anudder thing...

Radkes season isn't over. Yet.

Like Bluto says, "Was it over when the Germans bombed Pearl Harbor?"

Hell no!

It's over when HE says its over! If he's half the man I think he says he is, then he's twice the man I think he knew he was!

You follow me?

As Otter would say:

Neuts right. Psychotic..but absolutely right.

We gotta take these Whiteys down. Now we could do it with conventional weapons but that could take years and cost millions of lives. No, I think we go all out...

Lets start tonight. Make that 3 game series at the end a really futile and stupid gesture on the part of Ozzie and his boys from the windy city who would never be accepted into Delta.

Boof is evolving into a legimate big league starter right before our very eyes. Is it me or is he a different guy in now his second spin around the big leagues? Boof's SO of Peralta in the 6th shows me that he is turning the corner. Boof paints a tailing fastball on the outside edge of the plate and Peralta quietly goes the bench knowing Boof's arm was better than his bat. The game seemed in hand after that second out but the 3 run homer was looming. Peralta's out turned out to be Boof's biggest out.

Believe it or not but Rondell is hitting. Not only is he hitting, but he is hitting the ball hard. 2Run job against the DRays won the game last week and 8 bases last night.

The single run in the 7th was huge because there was no way the Twins Bullpen was going to blow two leads in the same game. Crain responded very well in getting Sizemore and ending the inning right there. He returned for a great side in the 7th.

Phil Nevin looks like the early season Rondell. Is there a curse to being the Twins DH? My does Nevin looked confused at the plate.

If you were to knock back a few pops with the blond locked Jason Michaels, I think he would eventually admit that he does not like hitting against Neshek. Wow, has Neshek gotten him to swing at bad balls this year.

And finally, for any of you who are too young to really appreciate the Twins' last world championship, the old guy who kept going out to visit with Indian pitchers last night was a very important component to the Twins bullpen in '91. Though it's true, I hate to think I have aged as much as Willis since that glorius October. The time is right to do it again.

I remember Carl

That was a big win last night. The Twins won the 2 games that they had to play while the Tigers watched and 1 while the Whiteys rested.

Now everybody has 16 left to play.

Is the schedule important? Tigers have the edge there. They play KC 6 times and BAL 3. They have 9 at home. The only series with a contender is 3 in CHI.

Is how you are playing more important than the schedule? If so, I think the Twins have the edge.

Will 95 wins in the Central get you a playoff spot? IS predicted it would more than a month ago.

Has IS ever been right?

Lots of questions.

I think Detroit will make the playoffs. I dont know if they will win the division but they have a 3 game lead over CHW. That is a big lead with 16 games left. If DET just goes 8-8, CHW has to go 12-4 to have a better record.

Given the Tigers schedule, I dont thnk CHW will over take them. The Tigers are in.

I think the Twins will also make it. Their pitching staff has been decimated by injury but who in the Boof cares.

Bonser has give the team everything that Radke would have and more. He has been unreal.

Is there a replacement for Liriano? No. If Liriano doesnt go down, the Twins would have a 2 game lead in the division. But that doesnt mean they cant make the playoffs without him.

Garza is pitching well enough and Silva is a lot better now than he was when Liriano was healthy.

So, it will be the Tigers and the Twins.......I think.

The Tribe is not lookin like they are too interested. Lets get 3 out of 4.

Go Twins.

Boof!

Nice boofing start for Bonser, you're right Shanty he's pitching a lot better the second time up.

So I was at Wednesday's game and Liriano looked unhittable for the two innings, then all of a sudden it seemed like five or six guys came running on to check him out and he was gone. The good news is that apparently there's no structural damage, the MRI came back negative, but he's still done for the year.

Garza pitched very well. Though the A's aren't one of the best hitting teams, it did seem like he was getting some of his breaking pitches across. Mauer did not start, but did come in to pinch hit in the 8th I believe, and hit the ball hard but right at the left fielder.

One of the keys to the game was a huge baserunning blunder by Morneau in the 7th. With one out and Michael Cuddyer on first, he hit a single up the middle, tried to take second and was easily thrown out. There are times when you want to be aggressive, but that was not a good time. It may have been moot because Hunter came up and hit a weak grounder to 2nd to end the inning but you never know.

They came back with an important win last night and are now just a game behind Detroit and two ahead of Chicago. Johan starts tonight, if he gets a run or two the Twins should take it. Silva goes up against Sabathia on Saturday, I'd expect the Indians to take that one. Baker will be starting on Sunday, the Matt Guerrier experiment is over after one start as Gardy wants him in the pen. Paul Byrd starts for Cleveland so it'll likely be one of those 8-7 slugfests. Radke is looking to return, much to packerboy's chagrin, probably the weekend of September 22-24 in Baltimore.

The starter Boofed em, then Jesse had a Crainium to tie it back up.

3-19 with runners in scoring position. Need to do better.

Whats with Cleveland using 9 pitchers? Manager like being on TV?

Mail in the "W" today. Whats the over/under on K's today? 12?

Go Twinks...

A lot of time baseball stats are pretty Boofin meaningless.

Crain gets the W to improve his record to.....

The W? He comes in with 2 runners on and the score 4-1 after the starter doea a great job, gives up a tying 3 run homer and then gets the W because his team scores 5 more.

They did have a lot of LOB but they score 9 runs. When you put that many on, a lot are going to get left put there at the ML level.

How about Rondell? Having him 'back to normal' is like picking up a free agent for the stretch drive.

I am convinced that Nevin is Brett Boone in disguise.
