They played I-Falls, Eveleth and a team from Grand Forks twice, which is a 2nd tier PWA team out of Forks. Eveleth won 1 game all year it was against I-Falls, enough said.

One interesting point. The emergence of Rosemount and Farmington at the lower levels (squirt and mites) coincide with the conversions of old grocery stores/malls located near the center of the "old town" of Rosemount and in the center of the "old town" of Lakeville. This provides year round access to ice for kids skating in Rosemount, Farmington and Lakeville where in years before, they had none. The sheet size is ideal for the smaller kids at a reasonable cost.

I believe they are privately own, but maybe the model to what happens in D4, D5, D8 and D10 towns experiencing similar growth patterns (increased population, but shift in shopping to the larger Walmarts, etc.). In either case, it creates a differing trend from community paid and managed arenas. If those arenas could be used to play games at the lower levels, they could reduce pressure on the community owned arenas. The younger kids don't need the big ice.

Cageballs, it's not enough said. What I'm saying is, didn't Eveleth and International Falls used to have competitive teams? Now they don't. I'll guess declining numbers which is almost impossible to turn around. Hockey in these small towns is dead. These are B2 teams at best. These small towns are toast. Grand Forks and East Grand Forks are weird because they seem to be trying to have 4-5 PWA teams, club and public, when towns like St. Cloud and Rochester only have 1. Frankly, Edina, OMG and Wayzata have 1.

Frederick's last point is confusing to me but the fact is all kids on top metro PWA and Bantam A teams skate on AAA teams in the summer. Or, at least, skate all year. All of them. The quality gap is widening too. The reason is an often missed one. Everyone always says Edina and Wayzata are strong because they have 1200-1600 kids in their association which is less than half right. The real reason, that is rarely mentioned, is that all their kids work harder than everyone else too. If you want to be on an A team, at a large metro association, you have to skate year around or there's not a chance. So, they have a large number of kids but they also outwork you too so they can make a team. Their B1 teams could beat absolutely 80% of all A teams in the state. They've got 10 PeeWee teams not one.

Time to Tier so coaches know who they should schedule against based on size of association.

I think it's time to get back to scores, or move this discussion to a different post.

Maybe not the correct place to post, but I knwo this one gets a lot of looks.

What is the tie breaking procedure in Regions after pool play in the case that you have 3 teams at 2-1?

Goal differential in the games involving the 3 tied teams. If still tied, divide goals for by goals against in the games involving the tied teams.

Where do the top MN peewee players go to summer hockey camp?

My son has been to camps in MN over the past couple of years and it seemed that the best kids in the division were not there. So where do the top players go?

Thanks

So if I have this right, Edina needs to beat Eastview/Eden Prairie tomorrow and then Burnsville/Chaska the next day to make it to the District final and advance to regions.

Winner of Burnsville/Chaska is in.

Sounds like you are catching some good hockey. I heard Edina was worse than putrid last night...will be interesting to see if they make it the hard way like last season.

Peewee A Score:

Eden Prairie 5
Eastview 0

Tonight Top 4 teams in D6 will square OFF!

1st game Edina vs EP 6:45 (Loser goes home fishing)
2nd game Chaska vs Burnsville (Winner goes to Regions)

Should be a great night for Peewee A hockey at Bloomington Ice Gardens.

So does the loser of the Bursville/Chaska game play the winner of Edina/EP for the #2 seed to regions?

No, they would play to get to the Championship game, that determines the 1 or 2 seed.

Playoff - You are correct.

In D6 this year the last 2 teams standing go to regions. So the 2 teams that play in the Championship game are Both in. Whoever wins or loses thr championshio game determines thier seeding in Regions.

1st gets D6 #1 region seed
2nd gets D6 #2 region seed

either way both are in region and have a excellent shot at State..

Edina came back and beat Eden Prairie. 5-3 with an empty netter I think.

Edina versus Chaska in an elimination game. I know it was 6-1 or something in favor of Chaska before Edina scored two late, but I did hear shots were actually in favor of Edina and they probably weren't outplayed as bad as the score indicates.

Rematch.
