Running time through the 3rd period

absolute domination by the eagles. fischer had a hat trick, loose had two, hoffmann, banal and peterson also had goals.

Redwood 3
Luverne 6
Oh how the mighty have fallen....not haha shows how good they really were. if you recall i did call that luverne would give them a run for their money and beat them. They really deserved that 2 seed huh..

well it will be luverne at new ulm on tuesday at 7. playing on the regulation size rink so it should very fast paced with alot of scoring.
my prediction
new ulm 6
luverne 2
gotta love playoff hockey

I wanted them to make a nice run. What happened to them at the end of the year, too much pressure?

Hutchinson 8, Sleepy Eye 1

SOG - Hutch 58, SE 6

SE had two good scoring chanes and did get one in. Goalie form SE played very well. Too bad he was out most of the season. SE could have won some more games. Nice run anyway.

LDC at Hutch next Tuesday. That should be the game to watch in 3A that night.

I honestly didnt think luverne would beat redwood..... NO way possible i thought that would happen... even with redwoods recent struggles..... Luverne get ready to get rocked.

and honestly i think luverne is garbage from what i see...

They beat redwood by more than they beat worthington???
New Ulm... you guys get a free pass to the section championship

well congrats to sleepy eye on winning a section game. :D

Marshall loses 3-1 very good game.. electric atmosphere..... Litch outshot Marshall 33-20 according to the hub. Most of marshall's shots came from outside the blueline. but very intense game overall, crazy fans, massive pepband from 2 schools... had a section championship atmosphere almost.

Hutch will only give up 2 more goals in the section tournament
4 - 2

New Ulm will win in a laugher. 11 - 0

Hutch goes back to state with a 4-0 win over the Eagles

The Litch/Hutch game will be a classic. Two solid clubs. Already a rivalry, this will make it even bigger.
The atmosphere in Litchfield last night was fantastic. Felt like northern Minnesota or at least a GAC final. Loud and wild all night, but respectful. The reffing was great, the players were giving all on both sides, and everyone was respectful before, during, and after. Section playoffs at it's finest.

Once and for all, let's remember something -
Don't base section seedings on win/loss records ever again.
Everyone who played or saw all 5 teams - Redwood/Marshall/Hutch/New Ulm/Litch - knew that one team wasn't in the same class as the other 4.
And that was Redwood. I don't know what Marshall's problem with Redwood was, but it screwed up everyone's thought process in the rankings. Basically gave New Ulm a free ride to the final.
Not the way you want your section tournament to play out.

100% agreement here.... it would have been nice for redwood hockey to make some noise in section play...... but when push came to shove. they should not have got that number 4 seed... Marshall, NU, LITCH, and hutch are better teams. no doubt and luverne i guess too.....

Ok As I have stated before I am from Luverne. My opinion is biased…. But truthfully Marshall has no one to blame but themselves they lost to Redwood Twice…And They lost to Luverne Once as well. If you really look at the seeding they are correct because in all honesty New Ulm is the 2 seed and they played the 7 seed last night. Luverne is better then Windom they should of never got the 6 seed ahead of them. Luverne has a better record and beat them head to head the second meeting in Feb. when everyone was finally healthy. So really if you look it Redwood was the three seed playing Luverne who should of been the 6 seed. Just another way of looking at it.

Like I said I am from Luverne but I am not stupid in terms of hockey. I know that they got a gift and getting to play Redwood as a 2 seed last night. But still these kids were 0-9-1 after two months of hockey. Many around this area were just hoping they would win a game. Redwood came to Luverne in late January and just destroyed our boys 7 to1. For them to win last night was a major testament to the steps they have taken this year. They only have one senior. They deserved that win last night they outplayed and outshoot redwood it was not a fluke upset. So for today as a Luverne Hockey nut I am going to enjoy it. For southwest hockey this is a big milestone for our hockey program. The Section Semi-Finals is the farthest we have ever gone. First time since 2001!

I know New Ulm is a lot better then us this year. It will take a very rare and crazy set of events for the Luverne boys to beat them however, the tide is changing with our program. Like I said I our A Bantams beat New Ulm all 4 times they played so did the A pee Wees and A squirts. So for the Luverne program last night was a huge step in the right direction. We are looking, if not Tuesday night, hopefully in the future to be in the same breath as those teams. We want to become competitive on a regular basis. So for one day instead of being called garbage… and we will get rocked…Its just is proud day for Luverne hockey.

Like I said I have a high respect fro New Ulm I know they are very good High School team. But as the years go by I think Luverne might be closing the gap. And Folks the goal here is for all these Southwest teams to get better hockey. Better competition breads better hockey players. Because if you haven’t figured it out we are the laughing stock section of the state. Maybe and instead of constantly tearing other teams down we should stick together and encourage our teams to get better. Just a thought…

Redwood had a great hockey club this year, which is a good thing for Southwest hockey. They hit a slump at the wrong time unfortunately and Luverne was able to capitalize on it last night. Still doesn’t take away what they accomplished. Another Southwest Crown and motivation to build on next year. They will return Hanson, Miller and Welch so again good season!! Lets keep trying to see areas like Redwood and Luverne get better at hockey so that they can get programs like New Ulm and Hutch more competition and get then more tested come the State Tournament.

Just my thoughts on the matter…Down to 4 Teams playing in March that’s what High school hockey is all about!!

Litch vs. marshall could go either way on any given day. The strengths of each team are opposite - litch has some key, solid scorers, and a weaker goalie and Marshall does not have key, solid scorers but a good goalie. ya gotta give it to the Marshall goalie for keeping them in most of their games this year. I don't think they would have done much of anything without Campion. Marshall has a good first line of defensive players, and weaker as they go. #8 for Marshall and #25 are solid players too. They have kids that hustle, but can't get it together. #8 for Litch is great, as is their entire first line. Litch will always put up a good fight. Looking forward to the competition.

I think the Hutch goalie will be able to stop Litch, and we have more depth than Litch. Should be a good game. Happy not to meet the Marshall goalie, and preparing for meeting the first line of Litch. The Hutch fans will be ready for a dog fight Tuesday night!

BTW - Luverne got lucky (have to say it is sort of funny)...Redwood was overrated (tried hard, good season, but overrated)...Buffalo Ridge - prove it on the ice - can't wait to see what you say next year. Play in a conference like ours, and you won't stand a chance.
