I can't believe that the people from Luverne ever gave you a penny! You're a fraud!

This is a good example of records not having a lot of meaning. Most of the competition Luverne plays is Bantam A or below. This is not a knock against the kid just an illustration of a fairly meaningless record.

Hilarious because when Hanowski was going for the record people were bemoaning Little Falls weak schedule. Hell people were saying that John Pohl played class A back when he was making his run at Spehars record. I dont think anyone is saying these kids would be putting up these kinds of points if they played a schedule like Edina or BSM. What is a talented kid supposed to do when he's stuck playing weak competition?

I have seen this kid play. He is really a good player. If he was playing at Edina would he be setting a record, maybe. But because of schedules things get questioned.

The majority of the hockey community in our state would certainly be willing to recognize a nice accomplishment such as a 300+ career, BUT they would also be able to recognize that this marker does NOT carry the same weight in 3A as it would in some (all) other sections. Not the kids fault (15? really? thought he was a senior....). Come on 3A faithful, don't give people more reason to not take you seriously. Personal records are nice, team success more important. Hope to see you in St. Paul this year.

Jonny I do get what you're saying. But if someone put up 600 they would say 3A weak schedule etc. So let's just call it the trout affect for the cardinals poor schedule. We will just play all home games halfway next year so we can get the tough schedule. (Neutral sites)Bring back the GM as soon as possible!

No probably more like half. 300= 150 career pts for a tough AA schedule I would say.

Look, congrats to this kid but no offense to him but mentioning him in the same Breath as Johnny Pohl, Ben Hanowski (2 guys who were tremendous college players) and both played in the NHL and Dave Spehar who had a very respectable (although not as good as many anticipated) college career isn't fair. All 3 were much better HS players and I think it's a stretch for him to even play at.a lower tier D1.

Before you all get too excited and pissed off over nothing it's the truth. Bottom line.

Ummmm, Johnny Pohl played at a class A school in a weak class A conference and in the weakest Class A section. He put up a lot of points against some very bad teams. By no means was he a sure thing when he went to Minnesota. There were people complaining about him when he was in high school too, it worked out for him I think.

Did I say he played a tough HS schedule? I know you have a hard time usually goldy but open your eyes. Luverne kid has zero right being mentioned with someone like Pohl who proved his HS career was no fluke becoming one of top 10 scorers is gopher history and playing in the show.

Have seen both he and the Nelson kid play Elite and he is a good player. Nice hands and good net awareness. If I were a coach from Luverne I would be furious that you play some of these teams twice. Ridiculous. Hope to see the cards in March. And hopefully my underachieving THawks as well.

Why doesn't the Luverne kid get a chance to prove his high school career is no fluke? People were highly skeptical Pohl would even see much ice at Minnesota, first he was doing in southern Minnesota, then because it was against class A teams, there were excuses all over the place. Same with Hanowski.

Ironically, The year Pohl won Mr. Hockey his section opponents were Fairmont, Le Seuer, and New Ulm......all whom now play in the same conference as Luverne.
