Their coach abandoned the team and decided to join the Blades. If you can't beat them, might as well join them. Plus the red helmet kid was going Blades and the coach followed.

Machine still class of this age group :D . After that probably Icemen, Torspo and Blades but no idea what order. May be a few dark horses that got better in the next tier like STE, Synergy, Legacy.
It is disappointing that it seems common on this forum for people to fabricate stories. This story is simply not true. For anyone who is interested in why I/we made the change I would be more than happy to share our reasons with you. Feel free to pm me or email me at competitiveedgescott@gmail.com

Beyond that I look forward to the opportunity to coach and watch some great youth hockey this spring/summer. Good luck to everyone!

The Edge can also be a team mentioned that could create some noise if they kept there team together and/or tweaked it a bit.

If my memory is correct, the 2000 Blades beat Torspo in the Caribou Cup Championship game last year. Didn't the Pumpkins lose to Torspo in the semi's?? Oops!

I'd say that the 2000 Blades are way out in front, Icemen next and Machine Orange/Black are well positioned in third.

In any case, Torspo (Machine Black) got gutted last year and the roster is being subsidized by at least three Machine Orange players per game. Machine Orange's roster will be very fluid going forward...suiting up the best 15 players, of two combined rosters.

It sure is funny as an outsider looking in that all Monopolyman does is work hard and try to build a good business and talk good about people and look what it gets him - ANOTHER top player from the machine, Orange nation you might want to learn something from this guy - quit trying to bash people its NOT working for you.

The Edge beat both the Icemen and STE in the Caribou Cup last year. I have heard they have added some players.

Yes - the Blades are seemingly WAAAAYYY out front along with the other teams! I would say that the head to head records prove the point:

Machine vs Blades - Machine 2 wins, 0 losses.
Machine vs Torspo/Deuce - Machine 8 wins, 1 loss.
Machine vs Icemen - Machine 1 win, 0 losses.
Machine vs Edge - Machine 2 wins, 0 losses.
Machine vs Monopoly - Machine 2 wins, 0 losses.

Admittedly, I believe this year everything will tighten up and become more competitive and look forward to some closer games but I think it's useless to draw comparisons using common opponents. Here's an example - 00 Icemen win the first tourney of 2010 last spring and then later in the year lose to the Machine 9 - 1 - so does that make the Machine 8+ goals better than every team that was in that tourney? No, they still have to play the games and anything can happen as was proven in the Caribou. If you are going to use common opponents as a measuring stick I think you'll find that in the past couple of years the everything will be HEAVILY tilted in the Machine direction - just look at the common opponents that the Blades lost to last year in the Brick - Machine beat them all just earlier the year at the Subway.

I wasn't saying the Edge are at the Machine or Blades level. They would have to prove that first. Just thought they should be in the mix behind them. I saw them play a few times last year. Could be pretty solid if they added a few players.

I don't think anyone thinks you did. I noted they should be in the mix already with an earlier post. Agree.

How are these other team's (Icemen, Blades) go the match up to the speed and size of the Machine, with the introduction of checking at the 2000 level this year.

Anyone know any ratios for the number of fifth graders compared to fourth graders on some of these teams?

Historically the top teams are almost entirely before July 1.

Mnmade is what is wrong with hockey in mn. No parity. Kids are not allowed to play multiple sports.

Kids are certainly allowed to. Many choose not to.

What a fine example of ignorance.

The top teams are asked to make a pretty significant commitment, but are not required to only play hockey. True, they do not want you to miss a team event for anything other than illness, but that is not the same thing as disallowing a child's participation in another sport.

Getting back on topic, I see that the Blades and Machine are in different pools for the Chi-town tourney. I hope they get a chance to meet in the championship.

They are encouraged to play dodgeball.

Anyone have the actual numbers of fourth graders on these 2000 teams?

Early results are in. They didn't get to play but had one common opponent the Bauer Selects. Blades lost 8-0 and Machine won 3-0. Blades went 2 and 2, Machine went 5 and 1.

When is the next time they could meet up? I noticed the Blades are not entered in the Stars and Stripes. Are they somewhere else that weekend?

Change coaches, lose key kids, and destroy probably the best 2000 Hockey Team in Minnesota last year? For what? Can't get anybody to go with u to the Brick this year to shore up the much weaker team u have this year, eh? It's all about Coaching and ego Terry(yours in that regard), I don't even know last years Coach, but I saw the boys play and they were the best passing and position playing 9 year old team I've ever seen in my 40 years of coaching and playing hockey. If they had been kept together the Machine would have been an afterthought this year. BIG MISTAKE TERRY BOY!

As I recall, didn't the 2000 Blades make it to the finals in Chicago? Not bad if you ask me. As far as last years 2000 coach being the "best coach in youth hockey in Minnesota" Ask someone how he's doing with a certain other team now. You are right on one point however, it's all about coaching and Stephens is a great coach with a proven track record. Keep bashing and cheering for failure up at the Brick, it's all you Machine people have left.
Stephens is a great coach and I would like to see two great coaches go at it...Blades vs Machine. Seems like at every other level they scrimmage all the time and have great competitive games.

Why don't they do it at the '00 level....I would buy a ticket for that one! Seems to me that the Blades need to have a fundraiser first to pay for plane tickets to get their kids to the scrimmage. The odd thing to me is that I heard the Blades scrimmaged the '00 Torspo squad is that true?
O:)

Is this mostly at the younger levels or do the the later birthdates(grade younger) start to catch up as they get to their teen years? There are many top notch high school teams that their best player could be a Jr or even a So.

Are there no current fourth graders on the 2000 Blades or Machine or any other higher caliber teams?

Anyone have any examples...............?

I have no idea what the answer is to your question, but this may be the summer for it, as both 5th grade and 4th grade 2000 played squirt hockey in the 10-11 season. Next summer you'll have 6th grade 2000's coming off of a year of peewees and 5th grade 2000's coming off of their last year of squirts. It's not impossible, but pretty difficult for 4th graders to compete on teams of this caliber. I'm sure there are many 4th grade 2000's on other metro aaa teams.

I was just looking at the 2000 Super Elite Division for the NAC and noticed that these two teams will not play each other in pool play. Is there some sort of unwritten rule that the only way these teams will meet is in post pool play?

I will assume you are talking about the Machine and Blades. I highly doubt these 2 MN teams really want to spend $1900, travel 6 hours, reserve a hotel for 4 days to play each other in pool play. These teams , egos aside, could play each other once a week all Spring and Fall and really improve each others competitive play. When going to the "Subway" you want to play the Vancouver teams, Calgary teams, Saskatoon teams, Manitoba teams..etc not your local MN teams.
