If it is continued to be used teams could look at who they schedule if section games are not that important.
So I’m confused. Are the coaches meeting or not? I think it stinks when section games don’t mean much.
No coaches meeting, you can check it on the Minnesota-scores web site every Monday.
Ok.

I don't think a face-to-face meeting was one of the options offered. It was either QRF or an e-mail vote.

The tiebreaker margin should come out later in the process. If 2 teams are within the margin head to head comes into play.

Wow, GR at 8? If that holds, does that mean another home game for Rapids? Sweet!

Aside from the odd QRF love for St. Francis, is this really much different than how we would expect the coaches’ seeding to come out? Rapids and St. Francis would probably flip-flop, but that’s about it.

Not sure Andover would get that much love after losing to East and ER soundly.

4-2 Cloquet over Marshall.

Solid win by Cloquet tonight. The Jacks never trailed, applied good pressure, and seemed to wear down Marshall as the game went along, using their superior depth to control the puck more than the Toppers. Marshall got one quick strike from Grannis and Levi Stauber popped in another one to tie the game in the 2nd, but Anich's goal with 32 seconds left in that period seemed to settle things.
Cloquet has more work to do to prove they've turned a corner, but that was a step in the right direction, and they certainly showed they have the talent to run with one of the better teams in the section. For Marshall, I think it's a bit of a reality check...they've got talent, but not no-doubt top 10 talent, and need to find ways to generate more out of their lower lines to relieve the pressure on Grannis and Stauber to carry the load. It'll be hard to go deep in this section without more.
In other 7AA news, here's a blog on East at midseason:

So what’s the general consensus. Forget about QRF, pagestat, etc. what does your gut tell you. We all used to purely go on our hockey instincts before all the information overload/technology/data of the era we live in today.
Duluth East, Elk River, Andover, CEC, Duluth Marshall, Forest Lake, Grand Rapids.

That looks about right. I might be convinced to flip three and four.
And you say information overload like that's a bad thing.

Who has a better chance of taking down East in sections? Andover, Elk River, Duluth Marshall, Grand Rapids, or CEC? Do seedings really matter this year for East? 12 Elite League Players = It probably really doesn't matter....The Greyhounds appear to be rolling now, and they are steamrolling everybody.

So let’s say Grand Rapids lost zero players and Klatt was back. Would Rapids be dominating like East this year. Who would be having a better year - Hain or McGlauphn. Holum or Stagecoach having a better year. What if the current Rapids were I sophomores. Would they be super sophomores? Rapids vs. Bemidji in hockey day 2019 matchup in Bemidji? How long does Rapids have to wait to host hockey day again? Would Grand Rapids be an exception? Is it known when Rapids will be dominant again? Current peewee and bantams the next state champion?

Until they have exhausted all the other non-metro and metro host candidates and start the rotation over again. Except Baudette Bay would be skipped at the beginning of the second rotation since they already hosted twice. ;P

Agree on 1,2, and 3. 4 and 5 not really. Definitely 6 and 7. 8? Not a chance

I wouldn’t bet on it, but the Elks are my choice as the team with the best chance to pull off an upset against East. ER has not been consistent, but their offense has shown flashes of brilliance and could keep up with East in a higher scoring affair. They seem to have more upside than Andover or Marshall, and could put things together for a few games and get hot.
