Windom is not better than luverne. I wouldnt have put my marbles on them winning and rightfully so they didnt. People seeding Luverne over any of the top 4 are out of their minds. Luverne didnt even win the SW conference how can you seed them above Marshall? I'd be willing to bet they would lose to litchfield.
1.NU
2.Hutch
3.Marshall
4. Litch
5. Luverne
6. Windom

if you see it any other way then youre a lost cause.
How does winning the conference have anything to do with the two teams playing each other? They are a tie away from splitting the title; 1-1 against each other. What I see is two very similar teams on paper who have played twice, with Luverne winning the more recent game.
The head to head game Marshall won was Luverne's second game of the season. It's too bad Luverne and New Ulm don't play. This section is very close, but I'm simply going by the actual results of games played.
I know I haven't seen any of the teams play, but Marshall is 1-1 against Hutch, 1-1 against Luverne and 1-0 against LDC. The Luverne tie with MBA doesn't look great, but they didn't lose and they've beat some teams better than Marshall has. Based [mostly] on scores of section games, my opinion:
If Marshall wins tonight:
1. Luverne
2. Marshall
3. New Ulm
4. Hutch
5. LDC
If New Ulm wins tonight:
1. New Ulm
2. Luverne
3. Hutch
4. Marshall
5. LDC

Having seen the teams play, the above bolded scenario is probably the more accurate, but making such statements in this area gets a person chastised. 1-4 games against each other should be close, 5 & 6 are capable of upsets against 1-4. Windom makes an interesting argument for being #5 if LDC does not win a game the rest of the season.

Bender Question for you... Grant Sattler played on Marshall Varsity as an 8th grader. Now on St Thomas Academy... Why did he leave? Just think if Marshall's 4 D-man were Your brother & Walker, Buysse & Sattler... They would be going to State this year .... Still very well could. Just curious on what happened with him?
I'm not Bender but I will take a stab at it. Sattler was always looking to be challenged. He was playing bantams as a second year peewee, and traveling all over to play. I don't think his family is hindered by money. As he gets older there is an opportunity to join a top notch private school that is playing at the X almost every March. Not trying to take a shot at Marshall here, but you can either play at Marshall or St. Thomas, which one would you choose? Don't shoot me if I'm wrong but didn't his younger brother follow him to St. Thomas? The above is the conclusion I came to. Bender if I'm way out of bounds here step in please.

Grant Sattler is a senior defenseman with 8 pts and Austin Sattler is a junior forward, who is 6th in scoring on the team, has 19 pts.

Pretty confident that the Eagles will secure the #1 seed with a victory in Marshall tonight. My guess is a 3 goal victory in the area of 6-3. We are getting close to tournament time and that is when the Eagles play their best. The tough schedule pays off starting tonight!

I think New Ulm will handle Marshall tonight and Lock up the number one seed
Based on this assumption
1 New Ulm (Win over Hutch and LDC, and split with Marshall)
2 Hutch (Split with Marshall, 2 wins over LDC, and 2 top 20 wins Orono and Mound)
3 Marshall (splits with New Ulm, Hutch, Luverne)
4 Luverne (split with Marshall)
5 LDC
Unfortunately I think the biggest impact on who makes it out of this section may be the amount of major penalties a team receives. I do not think any of these teams have the fire power to overcome a significant amount of Majors though the playoff run.
From what I have seen I expect New Ulm and Hutch game in the section final.

New Ulm is a .500 team.
LDC is 5 and 15... FIVE AND FIFTEEN
Marshall is 14 and 5
Luverne is 15 and 3
New Ulm has no signature wins to seperate them. Luverne, and Marshall can lose to the same teams that New Ulm does, strength of schedule is preposterous when all you do is lose those games.
Marshall beat New ulm IN NEW ULM.
With a Marshall win tonight seedings Should be as follows.
1. Marshall
2. Luverne
3. New Ulm
4. Hutch
5. LDC
After that its a toss up.. If Marshall sweeps New Ulm, and Luverne split with Marshall, that settles it.

If you are correct with your seedings, this might come down to New Ulm not playing Luverne. That might cost New Ulm a home playoff game. They might think twice about who they are scheduling in the future.

And if they lose? Marshall number one seed in everyones mind then right? Marshall sweeps New ulm, and New Ulm beat both hutch and litch.

No, they wont change, It does New Ulm no good to head down to Luverne and risk the loss. It would be foolish to kill this Stigma that Luverne Hockey is vastly inferior than everyone else. This is evident by the mere thought that New Ulm inherintly deserves a higher seed just for being New Ulm...

New Ulm may start to schedule a game a year against Luverne since they do have a JV team. New Ulm played Windom once a year for 3 or 4 years when Windom had a JV team and they had played some close playoff games against Litchfield and Hutchinson in consecutive years. Luverne will start to get games against the big boys if they continue to improve their program the way they have.

hshockeywatcher if you actually watch high school hockey you would know that player that gets 6 pts at STA could get 50 pts playing in this section.
Marshall could be the top seed if they retained their good players
Wildung in net left for the NAHL and of course the Sattlers.
Austin Sattler would be the best forward in this section. yes above the GREAT brody peterson.

DID THIS SECTION NOT LEARN ITS LESSON A FEW YEARS AGO SEEDING REDWOOD NUMBER 2?! Luverne goes and beats redwood and then gets absolutely thrashed by new ulm 11-1 or something... these teams havent proven anything.
SORRY ALL. but luverne is just. not. on the same level as new ulm.... I dont care if they beat marshall. get with it people. I honestly hope luverne gets to play new ulm, they need a reality check.
If marshall and luverne are in the same conference. and marshall wins conference.... and the two teams are in the same section... it follows that the team that wins the conference should be seeded over the team that. does not. win the conference.

I'm not saying Luverne is on the same level as New Ulm I'm just saying that they will get to play them in future seasons. Gotta play the best to be the best and Luverne won't get into the top tier of this section until they can play against the top tier of the section. New Ulm beats Marshall 6-3 but is outshot 29-23 according to the hub. Anyone have details on the game?

Marshall split there season series with both New Ulm and Hutchinson this season and beat Litchfield in the lone game they played against them, so by all means explain how the teams you define as better are at the same time garbage!!! The conference New Ulm plays in is far and away worse than the Southwest Conference!!!!

When you say "these teams haven't proven anything what do you mean? Has anyone in this section proven anything?
My final section rankings
1.
New Ulm plays a fairly difficult schedule but has no meaningful wins. (5-1 with one section game remaining).
2.
Hutch plays a fairly difficult schedule, but it looks like they are going to enter the playoffs on a 5 game losing steak. (3-2 in sections games)
3.
Marshall plays a southern minny schedule, (11-3 in the section, no section games remaining)
.4
Luverne also plays a southern minny schedule, (9-1 in section, no section games remaining)
5.
Litchfield plays in the wcc and are 5-15, (1-4, with one section game remaining vs NU)
Bender to me looks like we could see your NU vs Luv match up, If Luv wins you never know what could happen

Strength of schedule according to pagestat for New Ulm=120
Strength of schedule according to pagestate for Marshall=140
So it appears that New Ulm's conference isn't weaker or at least doesn't make their overall schedule weaker than Marshall's.
I haven't seen any teams play personall, but going off of scores, strength of schedules, and records....
1-New Ulm
2-Luvurne
3-Hutchinson
4-Marshall
5-LDC

Marshall lost a hockey game tonight, and the biggest loser in the section was Luverne, a team that did not even play a game.

Still here...
New Ulm gets a nice win 6 to 3 over Marshall
Hutch gets blown out by Holy Family 9 to 0
LDC loses yet again to Waconia 7 to 4 .... 15 straight
This section will come down to the normal 4 New Ulm, LDC, Hutch or Marshall no one else really factors in...
