Long rambling dissertation.

Greetings from Albert Lea, I'm sure you all have missed me
Until now I have been respecting our coach's request to refrain from posting on the board, but I'm at the end of my rope!!!!
Austin 4
AL 2
How do you define success in athletics? I guess it depends on who you ask as there are many factors and many levels of expectations. For me the simplest, most elementary level of success can/should be measured in terms of improvement. Are you a better player and/or team today than before the season started?
The AL girls are not better today than they were a year and a half ago. In fact, the team may even be worse. Even with the loss of #5 (very unfortunate for her) there is enough talent and ability on this squad to
at least compete for a top 2 seed in the Section, but after last night's loss the girls are now relegated to the #5 seed.
Apparently since it's a
girls hockey team it's just fine to have a coach with ZERO experience, one who has NEVER coached any sport at any level before! Had this been a boy's team, the AD would not have allowed this to happen. IMO, this would NEVER have happened to a football, basketball or baseball team.
Honestly, it is not my intention to throw the coach under the bus, but rather the AD. The coach has done a great job of keeping the girls on track academically, there was a divisive force last season that he eliminated, the girls seem to like and respect him. However, it was the AD who allowed (perhaps promoted) this to happen. I have to believe this teacher/coach was recruited for the position since there weren't ANY applicants up until a week before practice began.
I did a little googling of Title XI and found this, I thought is was quite interesting and brought it to the attention of our AD/Title XI Coordinator last year. His response to me was that Title XI was only about the opportunity to play. He must be right, he's the Title XI Coordiator!
How is Title IX applied to athletics?
There are three basic parts of Title IX as it applies to athletics:
· Participation: requires that women be provided an equitable opportunity to participate in sports as men (not necessarily the identical sports but an equal opportunity to play).
· Scholarships: requires that female athletes receive athletic scholarship dollars proportional to their participation (e.g., if there are 100 male athletes/100 female athletes and a $200,000 scholarship budget, then the budget must be split $100,000 to men/$100,000 to women)
· Other Benefits: requires equal treatment in the provision of (1) equipment and supplies, (2) scheduling of games and practice times, (3) travel and daily allowance, (4) access to tutoring, (5) coaching, (6) locker rooms, (7) practice and competitive facilities, (8.) medical and training facilities and services, (9) publicity and promotions, (10) recruitment of student athletes, and (11) support services.

Oh RSI, I can feel your pain. No not really.

Never been around a team without a coach. I hate to agree with you, but, in my most compassinate moments, I have felt sorry for Albert Lea. I wondered what has happened to Albert Lea. They seem to get worse as the season progresses. But oh well, RSI, you should of moved.
I do find the Censorship humorous. All those little obedient Albert Lea sheep. Keep your opinions to yourselves. LMAO. RSI, I do respect your American independence.

Is it ground hog's day? An actual sighting of RSI? Oh the turmoil of youth athletics. It was unfortunate when A.L. losses a player the caliber of Jenna, (We in Fbo do wish her a full recovery)however I did think the A.L would put up more of a fight this year. I was

when I learned they lost to Austin. After seeing the "Green Machine" roll over them, I thought there was no way A.L. would lose to them.
Sounds like the boat is sinking in A.L., quick jump off the ship RSI, while u still have a chance. Unfortunate the coach is censoring the citizens of A.L. and can't believe that they would listen.
Thought we might hear something from Taking meds, I mean Taking names, after the win, but probably still stinging for the hurting Fbo put on them.
Great win last night Green and as always Go Falcons89!!!!!!!!!!

I happened to be the person your talking about, she came out the locker room crying. I was not yelling at her, she was very nervous, there was a D1 scout in stands watching her. I was down there to reassure her she was doing fine and help her deal with the pressure she was feeling. She was upset that the team captian verbally abused her because she was appartenly not passing the puck to the captian enough. Her emotions were running wild.If you saw the game I thought New Ulm used there defensive numerous times throughout the game( and many of the shots never made it to the net) The player was playing very unselfish and fed the points numerous times, but appartenly not enough to make everybody happy.

After last year's debacle with the former asst. coach and her issues I was willing to give him the benefit of doubt, a second chance, and respect his request. I know on occasion the girls read this stuff so I just figured I would lead by example and not post. Those days are over!

What happened? The scouts must of had plenty to watch...heard Faribault dominated and it sounds as if the refs did all they could to help New Ulm on the board.

I'm not sure who dominted but I believe shots were 18-4 after 1 NU (which team dominated), 40-30 final in favor of NU. The game was called poorly, during regulation I think Fairbo was assessed 10 penalities and NU had 4. It was one of those games where some obvious penalties were not called and some questionable ones were made. NU was given a 5-3 advantage in the 3 period but couldn't capitilize. In O.T. Fairbo got the 5-3 and buried it.

Nfld lost again, RW & Fbo won. That #1 seed is looking like it may be up for grabs!!!!!
Fbo is hot at the right time and comming on strong.
Go Green Machine
Still no sign of life in Austin!!!!!!!!!!!!! (not that that is a bad thing)
RSI, are u ready for Thursday? I know Fbo will be.
My prediction:

Red Wing - Faribault seem headed for a showdown!
Fear Rosie and the Young Guns!!!

Young guns? Fbo has no seniors who play. Our goalie is a freshman and the top two in points are sophmores, with one being 5th in the state in goals. Who has the young guns?
Be very afraid of anything GREEN!!!!

Red Wing has no seniors and three of the top four point getters are 7th and 8th graders and both goalies are 9th and 10th graders. I rest my case.

For real...Red Wing has one gun and that is Rose. If her gun is jammed, Falcons will out shoot Red Wing 2-1. Faribault is getting some very good players next year, they will have 2 solid lines with the 14A team that is coming up. I hear they will have a JV and no 14.
I predict Falcons vs Redwing in Section final...I think the Falcons can take them if their goalie stays hot and they shut down Rose. The younger wingers are good but not quite there yet.

Does anyone who brags about their team on this feed ever stop to think about what is happening outside of the section? I know many people throughout the rest of the state will read the Section 1A 2008-2009 feed whenever we need a good chuckle-it's nice to know that you all seem to have some good fun and competition amongst each other down in your section, because as soon as you come up to play the rest of the state, none of your towns can seem to compete anymore. (just look at the state tournament last year!) Instead of tearing each other down, maybe all the regulars on this feed should get together and figure out how to develop a team that can compete at a state level. I sure hope my team is able to play the winner of section 1A as their first game at state! Then we are almost garenteed to have at least one win

Talk about tearing someone down, maybe you should reread your post. You sound very frustrated, not having a very good year up there. Man relax, these are kids- you may need an anger management course. I am sure there are 1000's up "nort"....relax and get off our section. Not one post said anything bad about a single person, all just fun and game.
Remember the old saying "if you can't say something nice-don't say anything at all"....Bye Bye

I have an idea

We could be Faribault, Red Wing, Northfield (FRWN)and then we will compete. Or better yet, combine with a private school. i.e. Shattuck and be like Breck, or Blake.
Seems to me Faribault beat the mighty Mound Westonka?
We will see how 1A does at state. Might be a
Go Green

I'm as ready as I need to be!

I've got my coat, my gloves and my camera battery charged
Without #5 AL struggles to score, even more so now with these "sweet" new line combinations. Talk about counter productive. I'll go 3-1.
I absolutely guarantee that Faribo
WILL NOT score an empty net goal.

Great 1st post snipeshow13. Did you stay up all night composing that one?
WOW! "many people throughout the rest of the state..." I'm honored.
So your season goal is to get to the state tourney and get "at least one win"?? That sounds a lot like all the Section 1A teams

I have a sneaking suspicion that snipe is from Austin and has realized they not going to be a factor for many years to come.
