Gee I wonder why Grand Rapids would cheer for Cloquet against East?

Well, Mr. Shot. It would be because of Grand Rapids hatred for the Greyhounds.

Because, in Rapids case, they need all the help they can get against East in the playoffs. Historically speaking, that is. :P

Umm, because they don't want any part of East in the playoffs? Just a guess.

This isn't true. And neither is the history peice. Last two playoff meetings (both section finals)

#2 Duluth East 2
#4 Grand Rapids 1 OT

#1? Duluth East 5
#3? Grand Rapids 2 (2-2 midway through third)

Both wins for East. Did I say or imply they were blowouts? Nope. But the fact is, I can find no instance of Rapids ever beating East in the playoffs in a quarterfinal, semifinal or section/region final game. That's 5-0. Not a huge number of games, but East has been perfect against the Thunderhawks in those games.

In fact, if you go back to 1990, East is 22-3-1 in all games against Rapids. That's a substantial advantage. Some would term it an "owning". Face it; Rapids has faired very poorly against East since the Hounds and Cloquet rejoined Section 7.

In the 90's, East was 12-1. Prior to 1990, we're talking a different story here.

Funny thing was, when East and Cloquet moved to Region/Section 2, East didn't play Rapids for a long time. 13 years, to be exact. Rapids won two close ones in the 88-89 and 89-90 season, and then they didn't play again for three years.

Looking at the dates of those two games in the last 80's, they both happened between Christmas and New Year's, where East was involved in a tournament somewhere up north. Where it was, I don't know, but teams such as Rapids, Greenway, Bemidi and Bloomington Kennedy were involved. Perhaps someone with more history on that can fill in the gaps which I'm missing.

Yes East has been Rapids daddy. But as boblee has pointed out WE PLAY WITH EAST! No reason in hell we can't beat them especially with this Rapids team. The game this year sounded like most of East's goals were flukey. This decade has seen alot of trends broken:

Twins '02
Red Sox ' 04
T'wolves '04
Rapids '06

3-22-1 that is an UGLY record against the Eastsiders OUCH! Curious to know what the Worriors and CEC's record against East might be? East Hockey there used to be a Christmas Tournament in Grand Rapids back in the late 80's and early 90's. However I do not recall East being in those tournaments but that had to be it.

I am gonna guess that DE has a good record against a lot of teams since 1990- The biggest reason is because they have had a heck of a good team for the last 17 years. I would like to see their overall record since 1990. I would bet it is up there with everyone in the state. Jefferson, Moorhead, Hill Murray, Roseau included.
Just my thoughts.

I think he meant Forest er um Cam, no um Brainerd.....

but East is going to be tough to stop, but Cloquet is capable.

And, of course, everyone's favorite.....

the gr.(TH).indians will have something to say about it.

The Warriors...Ty's got to get the ship straightened out and then we will see if (can't remember the goalies name) can carry them to the promised land.
