Good news for all teams and fans in Section 1A.

Austin, Mankato West and New Ulm have to love this. I don't know much about the teams in the SW, but I got to believe New Ulm is loving that section assignment.

Edited by: <A HREF=http://p100.ezboard.com/bmnhs.showUserP ... herdude at: 2/3/06 9:19 am

I believe these are set.

The Novas may be an error? I know that one Mpls school always appears in A and they are part of the Novas co-op... Hmm...

One thing I woudl like to see is the ability for even the largest AA schools to opt down if they finish with a very poor record the year prior and especially if they have decent to poor SOS.

I know it will never happen, and some would argue that staying AA give an incentive to make a program stronger, but there are some AA programs that are rebuilding/building and a year or two @ A may be better as they begin that process.

Of course, I'd use Krach to identify these teams, but I suppose this would upset some true class A teams too...

Edited by: <A HREF=http://p100.ezboard.com/bmnhs.showUserP ... ckeyfan at: 2/3/06 10:03 am

If it's set then it's set.

Looks like Section 3 could of been reworked somehow as in competition level.
www.rebelhockey.com

Lakeville South

Lakeville South has no senior class this season. MSHSL counts only grades 10, 11, & 12. So South will grow by about 50% next season. I don't have numbers, but I would guess they are going from about 800 this year to about 1200 next year.

And I would guess that next year South and North will be close to the same size.

the sections are set based on this year's teams. Other things could factor in, such as a cooperative breaking up, creating two teams, one or both of which could be in Class A. Last year after they announced the boys sections, which had delano/watertown-mayer/rockford in Class AA, they dropped Watertown from their coop and moved back to Class A, while Watertown cooped with Mound instead.

The league always has to tweak the sections right up until the start of the school year, but this will be the main set up. Keep in mind they re-do all the sections again in the spring of 07 for the 0708 year, so this will be for one year only.

HOW CAN YOU NOT PUT I FALLS IN SEC 7? MOVE LITTLE FALLS IN SEC 8 AND PUT I FALLS IN SEC 7. THIS IS A DISGRACE. THE MSHSL SHOULD BE TAKEN TO THE WOOD SHED!!!! AND WHY ISN'T HIBBING MOVING TO AA?

Well I agree with the Hibbing comment! Must want to be like their boys program and stay in "A".
www.rebelhockey.com

Hey Rocketman.

They're actually a little below the bubble per se even for the numbers they have within Dist. 206.

I know it's been posted before, but what is the cutoff #?

The guys opted up for years, but couldn't be as competitive as they used to be anymore, so opted back down.

The girls program just doesn't have the near numbers for the strength to do it (opt up).

It would be nice...but not feasible.

Edited by: <A HREF=http://p100.ezboard.com/bmnhs.showUserP ... d@mnhs>Big Red at: 2/6/06 1:09 pm

maybe tough to make the MSHSL required 4 year commitment to opt up? Hard to see that far into the future, I know...

Girl's hockey is relatively new in Alex; as in many areas.

We've had a good run the last few years, but we graduate 13 seniors this year.

We have some terrific talent in next year's juniors, but not the numbers needed to have anything close to the strength needed to opt up.

Edited by: <A HREF=http://p100.ezboard.com/bmnhs.showUserP ... d@mnhs>Big Red at: 2/6/06 1:05 pm

The biggest enrollments in A are:

Farmington 1109
Richfield 1105
Shakopee 1098
Alexandria 1088

The smallest in AA are:

AHA 665
BSM 667
Hill Murray 671
CDH 984
CEC 1000 (this is the coop total)
Duluth East 1006
Bemidji 1113
Rogers 1151 (this is the coop total)
St Cloud Tech 1198

If we have 71 teams in AA then 7 are move ups? So Bemidji at 1113 is a move up?

the mshsl website has the section assignments posted. They differ from what was in the paper, with Lakeville South and Minneapolis Novas not there, which means two sections have just six teams.
