I think he is just highly depressed. About what I have no idea but I hope he gets the help he needs with what ever is the problem.
A person with depression isn't necessarily depressed about anything inparticular. It is a feeling of hopelessness and not being able to find joy, satisfaction, or enjoyment, or excitement in anything no matter how good it is or much you thought you wanted it.
I hope he gets help. Not just because he can be an incredible hockey player but because it can be a very dangerous situation for a person. It can totally cloud the judgement and thought process. Good luck Tyler.
