Under no circumstances can AV be consider a "Top Team for '22-'23." They gave up 22 goals to Rosemount. Gave up 20 to Burnsville. Got beat by Tonka 9-2. Beat by Lakeville South 9-2.
They literally gave up the 4th highest goals in the state last year! I don't care how good your first line is. You are not a top team when you give up 126 goals in 26 games.

But what if the team scores 152 and goes 26-0?

In AV's defense, they gave up 33 goals when the 7th grade backup filled in for their main goalie when she missed four games. I do agree AV is not a "top team" in the state. They will likely be one of the contenders for the South Suburban returning just about everyone, but that's not saying a lot of course. As weak as the conference has been recently, a lot of talent graduated. The youngest Moran should flirt with 80 points this year.

Looks like Burnsville merged with Minnehaha United and the team is now known as "Metro-South". Lot of effort put into that name...

It's actually a co-op with Faribault, Burnsville, SPA, De Lasalle and St. Agnes. Home game last night was in Faribault. If I'm a player or parent from St. Paul, I'd be longing for "road" games.

55 miles to a home game, that is something when you consider it's a mostly metro area co-op.

Did a very quick count of home games for the South Metro co-op, so I could be off. Looks like 8 at Burnsville, 3 at Drake (SPA) and 2 at Faribault.

This co-op didn't have to happen. Suburban East conference allowed the BV/AV Boys' teams to co-op but denied the Girls' request.
My insiders tell me SPA had an invite to re-unite St. Paul United and go with Visitation. Vis demanded all practices and games be at the STA rink (early AM practices because the Cadets get prime time). SPA declined because Vis wouldn't budge on the ice times. United was once a fantastic program until the adults got involved and blew it up. So dumb.

On the YHH girls preview podcast, Tony discussed the Burnsville/Apple Valley attempted merger. Sounds like a somewhat complicated situation and ultimately I understand the decision by the South Suburban. Which is ironic because the "super team" idea is happening elsewhere by way of transfers which is ruining girls hockey.

Looks like the hubris of the Visitation administration is already coming home to roost. Outscored 23-2 in first two games. Way to go, I'm sure this is best for the girls.

Nice to see Holy Family picking up right where they left off. On pace for over 400 PIMs. As usual. I've said this before but if you ever watch Randy on the bench it's absolutely insane. The screaming at officials starts from the drop of the puck. I can only imagine what tonight's game was like with Grossman on the Shakopee bench.

Only 4 more months until the mission is complete and he retires from the bench.

The Mission? What exactly is his mission? And do you think he will retire? I don't know the man. Only what I have seen from across the rink. #outofcontrol

Randy really cares about the game and girls. I am not sure if this is envy or jealous of where this program is headed. I wish my daughter was still playing for Coach Koeppel. They are very young this year by the end of the year Randy will have the girls in the section championship game. He is incredible recruiter/ promoter of girls hockey and gets them on to the next level. That is why the admin hired him. Randy will do what it takes to get his kids to reach their goals, most coaches are not willing to sacrifice like he does. That’s why he is getting kids from Andover and has an endless pool of talent that he is sharing in Minnetonka!
Let’s give some credit he is changing the game, for the better!

I've seen the Lakeland News highlights and it looks like they have a pretty nice infusion of some young talent. Good to see Bemidji off to a fast start.
