Grand Rapids just played CEC in the barn. The orange with 4 goals and my purple 1 goal. Lake Superior Conference jamboree on Tuesday then let the season begin

.....
Didn’t Rapids play CEC junior varsity? Rapids varsity played New Prague varsity and Greenway played New Prague junior varsity. Strange scrimmage format if that is true.
Yes. I think it was Rapids JV vs. CEC JV. It’s still a nice statement win by Rapids JV.
What I heard it was Rapids varsity that played CEC junior varsity and Greenway’s varsity that played New Prague’s junior varsity. That’s why it seemed like a strange setup for scrimmages.

Too pessimistic Raider
Yes , the road games are difficult . But the top kids got used to the road last year and Elite League.
If the top talent and two lines are humming strong and a with a little puck luck , on any given night they could beat any of those AA teams . So, wouldnt be at all surprised if they win two or three
I’m thinking they could be a 20-5 team, And give Hermantown just as tough a time at Amsoil that they did last year.

Why in the heck would Grand Rapids hockey Varsity play CEC JV. That is nuts. Heck they pounded CEC, Varsity vs. Varsity last game of the year.

They were 20 minute stop time (mini-games). Scores were Cloquet 1 Superior 0, Superior 2 DM 0, Hermantown 1 Superior 0. Hermantown 2 Cloquet 0, Hermantown 3 DM 0 Not sure on the Cloquet vs DM score. Suffice it to say, Hermantown has no business playing single a hockey...and hopefully opts up (like they should have after 2016-2017) following the 2018-2019 season.

Prior Lake scrimmaged Chaska yesterday. 1-1 tie but Chaska without 4 of their big guns like Koster, Pitlick, Lavelle, and several others only played half the game. Some decent depth from Chaska. Jutting for PL looked great as expected.

Not happening. They're staying in Single A.

Yes they did, but it was earlier in the evening, I didn’t arrive until 7:30pm.

Thanks 59. Boy oh boy. Those Hermantown Hawks are so unbelievably good each year. What an amazing program. Greenway vs. Hermantown should be interesting this year for sure. Hopefully Greenway can keep attracting the hockey players just like Hermantown. And Virginia and Proctor. In 2018, a program needs talent coming in from elsewhere to compete with the best programs, because those programs do it at a high level. Bring on the season

Not sure where this was directed...? NB JV team lost 0-7 to Flake... so pretty sure the other two weren't any better.
Varsity scores.. one team rolled their main line every other.

Seriously, NB has some cojones for even scrimmaging teams like Stillwater and CDH. I assumed NB would take a significant step back without Meyer and Moline, but perhaps they will be a contender in 5A again. Is there something in the water up there with NB churning out excellent goalies? Impressive for such a small program.

I'm trying to follow if and am getting confused. There was a 4-1 Grand Rapids over Cloquet reported and someone thought it might have been GR Varsity over C-E-C JV. Then a few days later it was identified as JV I think. ??
Nobody cares about JV. Reporting Varsity scrimmage scores has the potential of moving the line for upcoming games.

Bo, I read this as Grand Rapids 4-1 over Cloquet. I don't think that happened. They may not have even played each other.

Losing to Rapids 4-1 in a scrimmage doesn't bode well for them against St. Thomas & Lakeville North then this weekend. Hopefully they play better. I was expecting two good games.

Geez Rapids is small!
After years and years of decent sized teams they look bantam like in stature.

Outshot Monticello by a dozen last year in the final.. but Monticello is also strong this year. Lost 1-3 then tied 0-0 against them in scrimmages about a week ago.. They definately knew their players better.. but should be tight again this year. The goalie is absolutely elite and 5 or 6 other skaters would be in the HP programs with a big name program next to their own name.

Rosemount over Cretin 2-0 today. Irish Goalie played great, Rosemount’s top 4 D are extremely good and all underclassman, Gleason so fun to watch. Sophomore Luke Levandowski and Jr Mason Wheeler both scored.
Nick Davison our for Cretin
Two Sr Captains Ty Linneroth and Jackson Sabo were out for the Irish.
