Eden Prairie 1, Edina 2
CC Bowlby scored two goals, including the game winner with 4:21 left in the game, to lead the second ranked Hornets past the fifth ranked Eagles at
Braemar Arena. Edina's Lolita Fidler had two assists while Lauren Oberle scored the only goal for Eden Prairie. Shots on goal were just about even at 23-22 Edina.
Correctly called by 19 of 20 in our group, of which more than a quarter also predicting the score: Hansonbrother, clutterbucket, MNHockeyFan, hugo_lucas and easthockeydad. Sometimes our participants aren't so good, but then there are moments when we aspire to greatness LOL.

St. Paul United 2, Blake 3
Carly Bullock's two goals led No. 2A Blake to narrow 3-2 win over No. 5A St. Paul United at Blake Arena. Bullock now has 41 goals on the season to go with her 13 assists. Scoring for SPU were Ella Hommeyer and Catherine Kerin, with Joie Phelps assisting on both goals. Shots heavily favored Blake by a 39-21 margin.
Another superb effort by our panel with everyone adding points. But again there were five - puckdreams, mnhockey3535, rascalbrock, READYtoPLAY and nu2hockey - who predicted the score and add the bonus.

Mound Westonka 2, New Prague 4
Jordan Anderson scored all four goals to lead the Trojans to a 4-2 home victory over the White Hawks. U of M recruit Catie Skaja and freshman Kaitlyn Blair each recorded three assists. New Prague held a wide 45-23 shot advantage.
All but 2 had New Prague winning, with correct scores posted by Hansonbrother and panpan111. These perfect predictions enabled both to climb into a tie at the top of the Leaderboard after Tuesday's first four games:
1. Hansonbrother – 5 (3/4 + 2 scores)
panpan111 – 5 (4/4 + 1 score)
3. clutterbucket – 4
MNHockeyFan – 4
puckdreams – 4
mnhockey3535 – 4
rascalbrock – 4
easthockeydad – 4
nu2hockey – 4
10. Ten with 3

Dodge County 1, Minnetonka 3
Minnetonka overcame a slow start to come from behind and overtake a determined Dodge County team at Pagel Arena. After a scoreless first period Molly Shelton got Dodge County on the board six minutes into the second, and the Wildcats carried that 1-0 lead into the third. But the Skippers came back strong in the third, finally solving Wildcats netminder Gabby Suhr to score three unanswered goals, by Kippin Keller, Katie McMillan and Presley Norby. After the Wildcats outshot Tonka 10-4 in the first, the Skippers got their offense going in the second and third and finished with 30 shots to the Wildcats' 20.
The Skippers win didn't surprise anyone in our panel, and there were four especially smart ones who got the score right: GoalieDefense, clutterbucket, puckdreams and READYtoPLAY.
Updated point totals will be posted as soon as the SPU/Breck game is declared a final.

St. Paul United 4, Breck 7
Sydney Breza scored three goals and Grace Zumwinkle added two more to lead Breck over St. Paul United at the Breck School Anderson Arena. Joie Phelps scored twice for the United. Shots on goal were very even, with SPU holding a slight 34-32 edge.
All but two favored the Mustangs to win, but as you would expect with such an offensive battle, nobody came close to guessing the score.
So, heading into Friday's three big games, with six more following those, no one is running away with it, and with a little luck anyone could still win it:
1. Hansonbrother - 7
clutterbucket - 7
panpan111 - 7
4. MNHockeyFan - 6
puckdreams - 6
mnhockey3535 - 6
rascalbrock - 6

The first of this evening's three "Big Games" is now reported as a final:
Maple Grove 4, Wayzata 2
Maple Grove came back from a two goal deficit, scoring two goals in the 2nd period and two more in the 3rd, to defeat Wayzata 4-2 at the Plymouth Ice Center. Pacing the Crimson was Maia Martinez, who scored the winning goal and added one assist, and Taylor Wente, who also had a goal and an assist. For the game Wayzata had a rather decisive edge in shots on goal - 32 to 20 - outshooting Maple Grove in each period.
19 of 20 favored the Crimson, with the average predicted score coming close to the actual, at 4.0 to 1.7. clutterbucket, 36Guy, sinbin and hugo_lucas got it just right, each having predicted the 4-2 score.

Edina 1, Blake 4
Carly Bullock scored two goals - her 42nd and 43rd of the season - to lead the Class A 2nd ranked Blake Bears over the Class AA 3rd ranked Edina Hornets. Sara McClanahan was also a major contributor to Blake's offense with a goal and an assist. Shots on goal were almost even, with Edina holding a narrow 28-25 edge.
Our panel wisely favored Blake by a 16-3 margin, with one predicting a tie...although most expected a tighter game based on the average predicted score of 3.0 - 1.9. However one "rascal" got the 4-1 score just right to pick up the extra bonus point.
Still waiting on the Mounds View/CDH result...

All 20 contestants went with CDH to win, and SIX (30%) also nailed the score! Congrats to Knight7, The Bone, puckdreams, mnhockey3535, rascalbrock and sinbin on their prescient call!

Looking at today's schedule a real difference-maker will be the Elk River/EP game, where our panel is pretty evenly split. Eight like the Elks, 10 favor the Eagles and two are predicting a tie. The average score? Dead even at 2.60 to 2.60!
Also as an FYI I'll be at the Xcel much of today so I won't be able to post updates until this evening.

Two of today's three games are posted as finals:
Dodge County 2, Breck 3 (OT)
After a scoreless 1st period Gopher recruit Katie Robinson scored two goals in the first 1:19 of the 2nd to put Dodge County ahead 2-0. But fellow Gopher recruit Grace Zumwinkle responded less than a minute later to narrow the gap to one, and Cassidy Holzer scored later in the 2nd to tie the game at 2-2. Neither team could find the net in the 3rd, but Grace Zumwinkle did in the overtime to win it for the Class A No. 1 Mustangs. Zumwinkle finished the regular season with 28 goals in 20 games, and Breck finished with a 21-4 regular season record.
Our entire panel went with Breck to win, and there were two - Knight7 and puckdreams - who added the extra point for calling the correct score.
Forest Lake 2, Stillwater 4
Stillwater netted the first four goals of the game to go ahead 4-0 before Forest Lake answered with two goals of their own, both on the power play, but not until the second half of the third period. Lilia Scheid and Lauren Greeder each had a goal and an assist for the Ponies while Kaitlyn VanTassel had the same for the Rangers. Shots on goal were close with Stillwater holding a slight 32-29 edge.
Only 4 of 20 had Stillwater winning, but one of those four was puckdreams who used his pick to go ahead of the rest of the field by one point, pending the outcome of the ER/Z - EP game which, despite a 3:00pm start, still hasn't been posted.

According to Minnesota-Scores.net it was:
Elk River/Zimmerman 0, Eden Prairie 4
(Game stats not yet available)
As mentioned yesterday our group was nearly evenly divided on this one so it was a difference-maker in our standings. But since nobody came close to getting the score right it did only cost the Elks supporters a single point. With three games left it's not over just yet...
1. puckdreams - 13 (four correct scores in 12 games!)
2. Hansonbrother - 12

Final score from Roseau:
Roseau 1, Warroad 4
Madison Oelkers scored two goals, including the game winner, and added an assist to lead the Warriors over the Rams. Emma Brunelle stopped all but one of Roseau's 25 shots on net, while Warroad fired 39 at Rams goalie Jenna Baumgartner.
Three quarters of our group - 15 of 20 - predicted a Warroad victory by an average score of 3.5 to 2.2, quite a bit closer than it turned out to be. But there were two also getting the score right: THEBUCKSTOPSHERE and READYtoPLAY.
As we head into tomorrow's final two "Big Games" of the regular season we have clutterbucket, sinbin and panpan111 all moving into a 1st place tie with puckdreams, who had Roseau winning tonight:

Interesting: our four leaders are evenly split on the Tonka/Blaine game tomorrow. It just might come down to one of them calling the score!

Tonight's scheduled game between Alexandria and Wayzata has been cancelled and it doesn't appear that it will be re-scheduled. So that game is out.
However it appears that this evening's Minnetonka/Blaine game has been rescheduled for tomorrow at 3:00pm, so the outcome of that game will determine our Week 11 winner!

And the final game of the 2015-16 regular season is a bit of an upset:
Minnetonka 1, Blaine 4
The Bengals got goals from four different players and soundly defeated the Skippers 4-1 at Fogerty Arena. Shots were even at 24 apiece, but Blaine goalie Jaela O'Brien stopped all but one to keep Tonka's high scoring offense at bay. It was just Tonka's third loss on the season, and they finish at 20-3-2. The Bengals closed out their regular season at 21-4.
As I mentioned in my last post the four prognosticators who were tied at 13 points each were split down the middle on this game. And it was puckdreams and panpan111 (along with four others) making the great call, picking the Bengals to win. With no one getting the score right, they finish in a first place tie in our last regular season contest of 2015-16. Well done guys!
