bsm was the better team...
Mittelstadt was not noticeable most of the time he was on the ice...
ep tries to balance its lines. it will have to abondon that to make it to state.... but ep has a horrible coach so it is possible he doesn't realize he is the problem....
tufte is the man this year....
Fun game

If the EP goalie didn't let in 2 soft goals and if his team could have stayed out of the box, they would have won.
Can't wait for their next match up.
These are some talented kids. Fun game to watch.

Just got back from game. Very fun game to watch with plenty of things to clean up on both sides. Both PK units struggled. Benilde was the better team tonight, have a bit more depth and better D core and goalie. Both teams still have room for growth and will be major factor come playoff time.

Oh, how I wish I was the next generation. Mr. Oldtimer, your thin veiled insults are hurled at an old goalie that has no dog in any fight. My point of view will always come from the position that I loved to play. I have just as many IF's about the current MN Gopher goalie too.
It was the kindness of my neighbor inviting me to watch a scrimmage this summer that I got involved in HS hockey again. He picks the games we attend. Forgive me if getting back into the atmosphere has made me feel that competitive spirit again.
In any case, I stand by my last statement, no IF's, AND's or BUT's.

Some belated thoughts here: nice, packed house for the game, which started slowly but delivered by the end. These teams don't like each other and there was plenty of emotion on both sides, though it never boiled over--we just got to enjoy some very good hockey.
BSM continues to impress the most of anyone so far. Being able to roll 4 lines was key against a physical Eden Prairie team, and they did a good job of playing keepaway and keeping Mittelstadt from getting loose very often. Bischel made a huge save to keep it level in the 3rd. The D wasn't great, but it was good enough. The refs called a tight game (too tight, in my opinion), which I think suited BSM a bit more than EP, but credit them for capitalizing.
Eden Prairie seemed unsettled. I don't think they ran the same lines out there twice in the first period, and I don't get the decision to break up Mittelstadt and Graham. Durocher looked shaky and gave up some juicy rebounds. Sticking Graham/Mittelstadt on the point on PPs gave BSM several breakaways, one of them leading to a shorthanded goal. I'll stick by calling them the most talented team out there, but their flaws aren't hard to find. It just goes to show how wide open things are this year.
