Apparently everyone just wants more fans at the X, not the best teams. Thank you for clarifying some of the delusional minds on the forum.
Nice of you to refer to high school girls as garbage, including the current #11 team in the state.

The Wolfman was in St. Paul Thursday and this is his take. Hill was the best team on the ice yesterday and they should get by Edina no prob. Tonka and Lakeville should be the game of the night. The nod goes to Tonka by a goal. Andover-Eastview had no chance. I think Buffalo and the goalie might have played there best game of the year. Blaine is a year away from making some serious noise at state. On a side note 36Guy is not such a bad dude. I will be watching on my 60" in the wolf den tonight. Good luck to all the girls.

The color commentator is horrible. She hardly knows the rules of the game. I've only watched like 5 minutes of the game but she's already made that apparent.

Classic Hill-Murray tonight. Outshoot someone 20-1 in the 3rd period and only score one goal. That's how Hill rolls. Their strength is on defense and when you give up 15 shots a game, you don't give up many goals. Too bad it had to be decided on a cheap shot by Edina's best players, but that happens sometimes. 3 straight title game appearances for HM. I know the private school hate is out there, but I've watched this team through the 8 win years and struggle to beat anyone good. Watched them go like 1-10 against Roseville while in the same conference (and the one game the did win was 1-0 and outshot 50-12 or so). It took 20 years to build the program up and I'm just excited to watch them. Should be a fun one tomorrow no matter who they play.

And it will be the No. 1 seed Tonka. Should be an epic battle - I don't think there's any question that the best two defensive teams will be playing for the championship.
I do think that if it's the Pioneers they will need to alter their approach in the offensive end. I thought they rushed the play on too many occasions when a little patience and playmaking would have been more productive. They certainly have the skill to create more of the true high quality chances...

When you say it took 20 years to build the program, is that to say that it took that long for the youth program of HM to get established?

I see that Darwitz got her desire to play at Ridder. One should be careful what one wished for.

Of course. Can't win without a great feeder program. I know the bias against private schools, but it's not like they've dominated at the AA level. One championship in 20 years. As I've said before, I'm not making excuses for the single a private schools. I'm just hoping to see good hockey tonight.

Will the Pioneers put an end to Tonka's streak of never having lost a State Tournament game?

Really hard to say. HM clearly is playing really good hockey right now. They still have the problem of not scoring a lot. Likely a one goal game all the way until the end. If either team gets up two it might be lights out as both are so darn good defensively.

Was 49-17 in shots against a good Edina team indicative of Hill peaking or of an Edina team that struggled to beat Buffalo? Likely a little of both. Tonka won rather easily last night, but the game looked a lot more even to me. Anyway, I've convinced the wife to go, so we'll be there to see.

Congrats to the Wingers. And here's to hoping they don't get Blake in the semis again next year.

And, on a goal by Lauren Niska, Alexandria edges Hibbing/Chisholm 1-0 to take home the Consolation Championship trophy.

In Class AA, Edina takes 3rd, besting Lakeville South 3-1. Taylor Williamson bounces back from her ill-advised major penalty last night, netting two goals for the Hornets.

And a major feeder program to Hill Murray is Centennial :-)
Anderson, Steffen, and Wemple all played on Centennial's 12A State Championship team 4 years ago. Zerembinski was on their 14A State Runner-up team that year too. Anderson and Wemple stuck around for another year, but Zarembinski left the next year for Hill, and Steffen left for her 2 year stint at Benilde.
I wonder where Centennial would be at today if they had those 4 along with Hughes and Linser who lead Centennial in scoring again this year.

Lace don't forget about Harris at Breck. Also a kid on MV and I think a kid or two on CDH. Cent imo would have won multiple HS champ games for years.

Bringing this up again because she's as bad as Phil Housley. Talking about how TRF's senior goalie is up for the senior goalie of the year award and on the other side Blake's freshman goal tender is equally as impressive. She than said she expects Blake's goalie, the freshman, to be up for the same award in a year or two. That would be quite the trick.

You are correct Wolf. Harris (Breck), Moen (MV), Olmschenk (CDH), and LeClaire were all on that same 12A Championship team for Centennial. LeClaire is the only one that came back to Centennial (from CDH).

21,365, new state tournament attendance record. Just think if you had the best 8 teams? Although Buffalo over Roseau might have put them over the top.

The last 9 years section 4AA has been in the state championship game 7 times, winning the state title 5 times and finishing 2nd twice.
Stillwater 2007 & 2009
Roseville 2010
Hill-Murray 2014 & 2015
