Perhaps there's alot more to the story than any of us know. Who knows what the acceptance standards are at UMASS? Every single year kids who were early commits suddenly become "available" the spring before they are supposed to play for Ivy's and other private schools with very high admission standards, why? Because they can't get into the school regardless of talent. I'm not saying that's the case in Wahlin, I'm saying it happens regularly.
The overrecruiting this is a pretty common occurance in college hockey. Hell, the Gophers let Ryan Walters walk the year after he was a USHL All-Star because there wasnt a spot for him (Granted he was only 18 at the time, despite already having two years of the USHL under his belt)

Not according to this...

Of course, this list used to include Riley Tufte, but apparently that was premature so they pulled him off.

No Bellows? Tufte? Wait?

This year's roster shows 15 Fs and 12 Ds were on the roster at various times.

Pretty standard to move kids in and out for injury replacement and the like. Unlike D1 or the pros, the NTDP tries not to roster kids it doesn't plan on playing. So, when the inevitable injury occurs, they just grab a kid from HS or midgets to fill in. Instead of bringing in the same kid time and again, they grab different kids from different areas to try them out.

So, the good news is, Bellows, Tufte, or Wait may still get a chance to skate with Team USA without ditching their respective HS teams. A win-win!

Some kids turn the offer down.

Edquist did not make this team and was not offered a spot.

He is a great goalie however, not trying to bash him at all, just the facts.

Someone labeled Dave Aus tweeted that Tufte is returning to the Bengals next year. Leads me to believe Tufte was offered a spot and declined.

That is interesting. Looking further at it they Tender 4 on top of Ahrens - all for this coming season - Wonder how that works out...

His rights are also owned by Des Moines in the USHL, who needs 1 possibly 2 goalies next season. If he has a good weekend next week I can see him on the 30 man preliminary roster.

I wonder if the likes of Versich will follow. Donahue will probably stay in my opinion, with his commitment to the Air Force Academy.

A tender in the NAHL means little to nothing. If memory serves me correct the Magicians tendered yet another goalie last year that didn't make the roster.

If others leave, how long before you move back down to the JV class?

If you look at the players tendered vs the players roster in either the NA or USHL, it is about a 50/50 chance of sticking from a tendered spot

Heard Rasmussen (G) for Holy Family is off to play U16 Midgets in Colorado..

Looks like Holy Family will be looking for some goalies - Great opportunity for a kid to get alot of games and attend a top notch school with a great coaching staff.

Agree, especially with experience being regulated to jv.
