Keys for Stillwater:
-Weather the first few minutes. That's been the toughest part for many first-time entrants, especially against a team like Edina that isn't going to look back if it grabs the early edge.
-Bring the same energy they had against WBL and Hill
-Do not allow odd-man rushes--Edina is so lethal in transition
Keys for Edina:
-Play like you've been there before--no panic or penalties that might let the Ponies think they have a chance.
-Forecheck aggresively...Hill didn't do that, and it cost them. Wear down those good Stillwater defensemen.
-Basically, just be themselves, and pound Stillwater into submission.

Don't recall seeing such a lopsided game at state. Bizarre to think Hill couldn't score on this team. Consisering both upsets, there must've really been ghosts in the Coliseum that night.

When you reference letting the ponies run are you talking about running time? Can't happen until the 3rd period.

Stillwater has to go out and execute some kind of a game plan because all they are doing is reacting to whatever Edina is doing.
They are in a tough conference and section so I expected more than this. I think they were just wound too tight about this trip to the Tourney.
These kids have been playing against Edina since they were in youth hockey, this game should be much closer.

Edina is hotdogging now, everyone is trying to score themselves, not passing much. Too bad SW gave up that last goal because if they could have gotten within 2 going into the 3rd period this could be a different game.

Well Ponies a better effort would have been nice but you could sense the nerves were on full tilt. 3 bad bounces that lead to goals and a very good Edina team were just too much to ask for in the first trip to State. Congrats on getting there and remember you can still make this a trip to remember.
Embarrassing!
