It is a one game playoff, in hockey, there is a reason they play the games. But if you view point is that any time a higher ranked team looses it is either that they choked or that they were over rated it is hard to argue with you. I might even think your view point is moronic and that sharing it makes you look unintelligent but hey that is the beauty of the internet, every one has a voice even idiots.

If you look at all the posts about this being a difficult section you might even come to realize that Armstrong vs Hopkins may have been the championship game in two or three of the sections. In section 7 I think you could argue for Armstrong as the 2 seed. They are a good team, they have 2 solid lines with a good mix of speed and size. Hats off to them they played better than Hopkins on Saturday and deserved to win. I didnt think Hopkins played that poorly a couple big mistakes that Armstrong capitalized on.

Royal Dad, I feel for you and agree that anything can happen in one elimination hockey game. It isn't always the best team advancing, and it needn't be called choking when a favored team loses.

That being said, it was a little bit satisfying to see two Lake conference teams go down in the very first round considering how arrogant the fans on this forum have been this season. It must have been really satisfying for poor old Armstrong/Cooper to come back and eliminate one of the Lakes' big 5. And Buffalo tries to schedule all the Lake teams each year (even though the Lake teams consider them to be shoelees hicks) so it's a hoot for them to knock off one of their superiors in the first round.

I know you're not one of them Royal Dad, but everybody loves to see the arrogant fail.

No doubt, everyone loves to see the big school teams from the western suburbs fall. Just, through Os, training, and AAA we have gotten to know alot of these kids the last few years and believe it or not thier are a whole lot of really nice kids on every team. I hate when people critique them like they are pro's or even D1. The end comes really quickly for the kids, except those moving on to the X so people should have a smidge of empathy, even if it is BSM, Edina, or even Tonka. Yes there are some nice kids on those teams to.

As for Buffalo, 13 is the real deal and a great kid, thought she could have been a Ms hockey finalist. I thought they matched up better with BSM then with Tonka so I was hoping they would land on that side of the bracket. Probably would take 4 goals for them to win and that will be a tall order with the D and golaies for Tonka. I think Armstrong will have to take everything they did against Hopkins and get a bit more to beat the Red Knights, agresive in thier own zone and pounce on opportunities. That said I am hoping for a couple more upsets in section 6 a Buffalo vs Armstrong final would be a fun one.

There have been quite a few upsets already (not sure if there's a historian amongst us who can tell us how this compares to prior years) and there could certainly be a few more, not just in 6AA, either. The point is, any one of the "big teams" could have an off night and if their competition rises to the occasion, the higher seed is out of it. It's amazing that Tonka has won 13 straight playoff games, even with a few subpar nights sprinkled in, and still has managed to come out on top each time. That being said, this could probably be their most difficult year, since teams are gunning for them, and the margin of error seems to be even thinner. I'd still root for a Tonka-BSM final over Cooper-Buffalo, although it's sometimes nice to see some new blood.

36Guy, I am not sure I follow your logic. I have read your posts about how much more superior the 6AA section is, and within that section, how much better the Lake Conference teams are, especially Minnetonka.

Therefore, the winner of section 6AA will walk through the state tournament... So if either Buffalo or Armstrong-Cooper make it to state, how does that make the state tournament worse? If we apply your logic, that in fact would make the state tournament better, since according to your posts, the "upset" winner from section 6AA would be more on par with the rest of the field...

I would say, whichever team makes it out of section 6AA, they have earned their spot in the state tournament...

Sinbin - Without a 60 save shut out from the Hopkins goalie in the section final (1 to 0 OT win) two years ago. They may have been sitting at 19 in a row and looking for a 4 peat. Billadeau is CHA goaltender of the week this week, she still is pulling out wins when being out shot at the next level.

87fanman...not following someone is my line. But I do appreciate you spinning my blogs. Perhaps I should research yours and mislead everyone. You will not find a blog off mine boasting about section 6 or the lake conference and if you do please copy it and shove it in my face. You will find many about trying to find a better system to get all good teams to state in both boys and girls. No, I am not referring to upsets...if a good team loses to a bad one..so be it, play better! I have been promoting TRYING, to get a better system.

Your logic that sending lower seeds because lower seeds are making it to state would allow better games could be the worst thing I've ever read.

There is no vocabulary to get through to people that think the number #1 seed in a section is the 38th ranked team in state is a good thing.

I love the upsets and think any team is beatable. Just like the mens 64 team NCAA basketball tournament. When a 15 seed beats a 2 seed on a particular night...the 15 seed is the better team right???? And a bunch of clowns are shouting "Duke's not that good!!!"

I do know that I lose a ton of "street cred" for bringing up basketball in a hockey blog and will apologize now!!

Yes, I was at that game. Great goaltending, but at least several opportunities for Tonka with open nets, with the rebound pucks always seeming to bounce away from a ready stick (which was in part due to solid netminding). Billadeau is a great goalie, no doubt, but she's equally skilled at accidentally knocking the net off its moorings when things get dicey in the crease.

And I thought they trained all goalies that......in their very first class!!!!

Not that we ever wagered, of course, but I think the over/under for post knock-offs per game was 6. But a goalie of course makes use of all of the available tools in her/his arsenal.

Any score updates?

Well, Cooper and Buffalo had nice little mini-runs, but it appears that 6AA is much more predictable than most sections, at least at the top.
