This clown is not a Machine Guy. It is most likely John Byers or maybe even Terry Moore himself! Oh My! What a Fake!
One thing you can be sure of is that Bernie would cut a kid a in a second. His thought is if you want to be a Blade then go be a Blade.
You hit this one right on the head, desperate attempts to make a competitive team. How many monikers do you have john? I count around 5 or 6 now.

A 9 year old committed player from the Machine would tell his parents that he would rather go to the Brick than skate for Bernie. Come on...
Of course it sounds "Cool" to a 9 year old! It is cool no doubt!! I think it is a little more important to the parents than the kids. My opinion.
The Brick team will be made up of majority of Blades players. Fact. Blades played Machine three times last season and won one game with an adjusted line up and skating 13 players. Fact... Machine came back and one the last one that really counted.
Why am I wrong thinking that the top 7 players from Machine couldn't make the Brick team on a true tryout??? Machine top players are really strong and have proved it. Even the open minded MrBoDangles has to see that this makes sense????

Your first couple sentences are all over the map... Sarcasm? Brick or Bernie at 9?
Blades have proved it too.... but you've forgot about all the other talent out there.

Every year the same thing.
The Blades get on their knee to beg the Machine players to go to The Brick.
Every year Bernie is the Bad guy.
Every year the Blades do not get Machine Kids
Every year the Blades go and have a poor showing.
Every year come back with their tall between their legs.
You Blades People just don’t get it. Those 02 families that are on both the Orange and Black teams really like his training. You think for one second they are going to risk that to skate on a losing team at the Brick? Not a chance. Not one of them will come.
That 02 Machine is way stronger than it was last year and they will tear the 02 Blade up.
Five Hole is a fraud.

I must admit that I'm being closed minded about other talent out there. I do honestly believe that the 02 Machine Orange team has roughly 6-7 kids that are as good as it gets in the state.
I also feel that the 02' Machine Orange is stronger than the 02' Blades, but don't feel like "hockeydad11" that they will by no means "tear" up the '02 Blades. The 02' Blades will be strong.
I actually believe the Brick team will fair pretty well as planned. I think with the addition of the Machine top players, and time on ice together, the Team Minnesota Brick team would be very difficult to beat. No question. not going to happen though..........

Why is this topic so important to you? Every year you seem to post about this and how terrible the tournament is. Without ever going to it, how are you so opposed to it? Just curious.

All this talk about a group of 10 year old boys.......
You need to step back and gain a little perspective.

C'mon Muck your telling me after 1500 post you have not figured it out yet Blades and Machine parents have no perspective?
Same crap every year, just a whole new set of fresh wallets at the 02 age. I know plenty of 95 to 99 year former Machine & Blades parents these newbies should talk to.

You're right.....It's like "Ground Hog Day" and "Deja vu all over again" wrapped into one. Every year the same arguments from parents of these teams, only it's just the newer parents doing it.
And you're also right that these parents should seek out the advice of others that have been there and done that.
Folks, the Brick is a nice tournament. Not "prestigous" by any stretch. It doesn't give your kid a leg up in the scouting department. In fact, I doubt the kid will have any more fun playing the Brick versus playing a tournament in Rochester. It's the parents that build it up and make a huge deal out of it.
Give the kids a situation where they can stay at a hotel with a swimming pool, eat a ton of pizza, play knee hockey in the hallways, and they will have a blast no matter what or where the tournament takes place.
And I would never have my 10 year old son play for someone who tried to exhibit that much control over who and where my son plays hockey. Now if playing in the Brick meant that your son would have to miss a lot of ice time for the Machine, then I can see where a program might not want you around. Is that the situation here? How much of a time committment would it be to play in this tournament?

Muck, I believe they practice almost daily for the better part of a month in preparation for this tournament.

Don't necessarily like the heavy handed approach but what are the Machine to do? They have a team, they're trying to practice and get ready for the tournaments they're signed up for and don't want to be missing 4-5 Team Minnesota worthy players or it makes everything difficult. And the Machine and the Blades aren't the only two teams in town. But, even Easton or Miracle, or whoever, wouldn't want to lose their best players for a month. Tricky situation that a lot of people wish could be handled better.

A solution may be have the brick tryouts before most aaa teams have there team picked and have the brick team play the whole summer. That way kids who make the brick are only committed to one team. Then after the season the brick kids can filter back into their teams. This would mean the blades would have a 02 brick team and a 02 blades team.. Just a thought..

That's so simple that it just might work.

This is a very simple issue. The Blades have their team. The Machine has their team. The Machine team has for the most part been together for over two years. When they join the Machine they know up front that they don't play on other team or programs.
Velocity teams do not allow their players to play on other teams, no different than the Machine.
The problem as I see it that the Blades model does not work. The top AAA teams Minnesota have a huge commitment between players and teams and if the Blades need players from other teams they will always have a problem.
Looking at the past post of the people on the thread who seem to be most concerned about this issue clearly fall into the Blades camp. My thought is this why the Blades don’t take their normal roster. The confidence of the players that end up staying home has to take a big hit. I would think that they should be able to competitive.

They should sue if they can't play for 2 teams...isn't that what Bernie does
