Interesting side note, BSM has 26 games listed on their hub page, did they get a special exception to play SSM twice, or is there a mistake in the schedule.
It could be that one of their opponents got the exception to find opponents that already had a full schedule. That would allow them to play 26 I believe.

Or it could be that's why yesterday's game was cancelled - someone realized that they had scheduled one too many games.

Didn't read that part of the earlier post... That is probably why

According to minnesota-scores.net it was:

Moorhead 3, Thief River Falls 2

Yet another upset according to our panel of experts, as only two (Otter and woogieboogiewoogie) thought the Spuds would come out on top in this one.

So with the point woogieboogiewoogie moves into first place "all alone" and Otter moves up a spot into the logjam for second:

1. woogieboogiewoogie - 7

2. Hieronymus - 6
mnhockey3535 - 6
MNHockeyFan - 6
Silent But Deadly - 6
Otter - 6

7. hckynut12 - 5
Knight7 - 5
ayhfan - 5
D16Dad - 5
KRACH - 5

12. Four tied with 4

Our five games tomorrow will put a wrap on Week 8. It's still anybody's ballgame, and I have a feeling that it will take at least one correct score to come out on top.

My update will be a little later than normal today, as I will be out starting now until later on this evening (Go Gophers!).

Three of five games are now being reported on the Hub so here is a preliminary update:

Eden Prairie 5, Hopkins 1

EP's Josie Olson gets the hat trick and McKenzie Johnson stopped 26 of 27 shots to lead the Eagles over the Royals.

Our panel of prognosticators didn't see this one coming at all. Only D16Dad had Eden Prairie winning, and in the process gains a point on the rest of the field.

Elk River/Zimmerman 3, Champlin Park 2 (OT)

Jordan McLaughlin's overtime winner was the difference as the Elks edged the Rebels. Shots favored Champlin Park by a 29-25 margin.

All but one had the Elks winning this one, but there were two correct scores: MNHockeyFan and Silent But Deadly each pick up a bonus point. :)

Lakeville North 4, Lakeville South 3

Christi Vetter's two goals and one assist led the Panthers over the Cougars in a battle of crosstown rivals.

Yet another upset according to our prognosticators. Despite these two teams being almost exactly equal according to KRACH, only two - sinbin and ayhfan - thought LN would win. Amazingly, both nailed the 4-3 score and pick up two points on everyone else.

I'll wait for the other two games to post the final leaderboard, but with two games to go we have a four way tie for first place and five others trail by just a single point.

One more game reported:

White Bear Lake 3, Cretin-Derham Hall 2

Nobody misses this one, but perhaps a bit closer that most expected. There was one correct score: capitalpride.

Pending the result of our final game, Minnetonka vs. Wayzata, here is the leaderboard late Saturday evening:

1. MNHockeyFan - 9
Silent But Deadly -9
ayhfan - 9
woogieboogiewoogie - 9

5. Hieronymus - 8
sinbin - 8
mnhockey3535 - 8
Otter - 8
D16Dad - 8

10. Three with 7

13. Three with 6

The final standings for Week 8 will be posted as soon as the score from the Minnetonka/Wayzata game is confirmed!

Despite a big disadvantage on the shot clock, Wayzata was able to mount a late rally but it fell just short:

Minnetonka 3, Wayzata 2

A predictable outcome but Minnetonka's one goal margin of victory was closer than anyone here expected. Everybody picked up a single point so the standings are unchanged from what was posted late last night:

1. MNHockeyFan - 10
Silent But Deadly - 10
ayhfan - 10
woogieboogiewoogie - 10

5. Hieronymus - 9
sinbin - 9
mnhockey3535 - 9
Otter - 9
D16Dad - 9

10. Three with 8

13. Three with 7

With just a 3 point difference between first and last place, this was easily the closest of our weekly contests. All told there were just seven correct scores, and nobody got more than one.

The schedule of games for Week 9 has been finalized and will be posted very shortly!
